Two quick adds to this excellent video. 1. Mark where attaching bolts are in relation to the fender so you can get everything back together and lined up perfectly. 2. Always remove the negative cable from the battery first and replace it last. That avoids big blue sparks if your wrench happens to touch a metal body part while loosening the positive cable.
Alex. Thanks for the video. I was having issues where my Sky would barely crank over. So, thought I should try and replace the battery first given it’s been 6 years since I did. You’re video was super helpful where I was able to do all this in the dark winter night without light and it having snowed earlier today. The battery swap went fine. But, issue with cranking over continued and after I tried one more time it seems like the starter or starter solenoid went. So, stuck having to get it towed and replace. Regardless, your video was a savior.
@@alexchavez1011 yeah. Starter only. Once replaced it’s fine. Will still be looking for another car to have on the side for these situations as the miles increase on the sky.
Its really not that bad at all but you do in fact need to be mechanically inclined or you will pay. Once every 5 years on a nice decent good quality battery... its expected.
even my older Sebring convertibles were not that involved. utterly ridiculous that any Automotive Engineers would come up with something that complicated ,, really !
I hope whoever designed the front end of this car got fired. Imagine having to disassemble the front end to replace a battery. How the hell are you even supposed to jump start it.
besides... Are you not maintaining it or just running it till it dies? Self service and accountability goes a long way on these cars. Running them blind till they drop may not be a good idea....

Never set battery on the ground..

There's a positive and negative post in the engine bay easily accessible for jumps, people don't have to remove the fender for a jump

Haha! One of the jobs I did at the GM (boxwood ) factory was installing the battery. Of course the fender hadn’t been installed yet.
The battery is placed there for weight distribution. It's not that hard of a job.
I did not need the video on how to remove the battery for my Pontiac I needed how to charge it
