    And yet again Mr. Warrack, you've come through for me. I've been trying to figure out a method of using magnets and had a tiny bit of an idea of what/how I wanted to do it. Thanks to you I feel quite invigorated and encouraged in the use of them through the means I had originally thought I'd like to go. Thank you so much for your tutorials!

    neodymium magnets aka rare earth magnets. I use them or try to use them as much as I can. You can get them on Amazon or eBay is your best bet. I myself always use the same size magnets. The best size for 1:12 (6 Inch or ML scale) are probably 2mm x 1mm.
    Super Glue works just fine as long as you add enough to it. Too little and it won't stick. If you happen to apply too much it's fine but it does take a bit longer to dry.
    You can use multiple magnets to kinda hold guns or other things in place to prevent it from shifting with the weight. Such as Captain America's shield. I use a total of 5-6 magnets. 2x on the Shield, two on the arm and one or two on the back.

      Good tip if you used a large amount of glue it can harden faster with a bit of baking soda or any other powder

    Thanks for the video,haven't used magnets in any of my customs so far but now that I'm sculpting most of the heads from scratch myself, it just seems like the best/easiest option for me and I had no clue about using them or which to buy so your video was a tremendous help that will save me a lot of time foregoing all the trial and errors.subscribed and going to go watch some more of your videos. Thanks again.

    @JDMeg6314 - Absolutely. It's nicely weighted and I've used a few rotary tools, but the Dremel ones are the most reliable. Cordless is absolutely essential so I don't end up trailing the cord through some unhardened sculpt or something.

    Great vid man. I've been wantin to use mags for a while and this really helped. I use the stylus as well so nice to not have a cord on the dremel and i think its just so much easier to use.

    Fair enough. Still i am really looking foward to seeing this custom. Nothing is 100% accurate but you can get it pretty close to the characters overall look in the comic even if he has different colored straps and is drawn different from panel to panel.

  • @warrack
    @warrack  13 років тому

    @PJcustoms13 - Always happy to help. Hmm, I'm not sure where else you could buy them. Perhaps you could phone Maplin or something and ask them if they have them in stock. Apart from that, I'm not sure. If you know any model shops they might stock them or be able to order them in for you.

    11:00 So your magnets rotate yers they will that is why one the arm ( Detachable part ) you include a locating pin or recessed part to push into the arm so the pin and magnet keeps the arm from rotating. Now depending on how much room you have you could drill 2 or four hole in main body so you can replace arm at 90: 180: 240 degrees. Hope this makes sense ARM magnet + pin------- Main body magnet + hole for pin with holes at 12-3-6-9 ( simple )

    Would the magnets lose their attraction under a thin layer of sculpt? I imagine that'd be the best way to disguise the magnets and achieve clean paint apps, but not sure if they'd hold.

    @salemjuggalo - I use Games Workshop paints. The aren't that many tips for detailing to be honest. Just take it slow, have a fine, clean, small brush and relax.
    I'm going to be doing more video guides to customising, with a feature length one coming in December. I'll try and do a paint techniques one before that.

    Um can you put those magnets in the oven because I'm using this oven bake clay to make an poseable figure and I'm gonna use magnets to make it poseable so it will be a help if you can answer my question

      I don’t know sorry.

  • @warrack
    @warrack  13 років тому

    @ThePsycho117 - Well, he's not going to be comic accurate as you know I don't think anything can ever be comic accurate. He's just going to be the best version I can make for myself and I'm going to focus more on making his 'action features' work better. I don't really care whether he has a white strap here instead of there or the same shoes he wore in whatever issue.
