With Blaze prior dealings with Capcom... it would seem likely that they could make a Resident Evil Collection 1 with the first three games just like this Tomb Raider set. That would be EPIC!!!!
But if the existing deal with Capcom for the built in games has expired and not been renewed, then is this likely to happen?
Maybe november hardware is just this?

It's amazing how I witnessed the release the Tomb Raider cart. Though obviously, I was still hoping for a simple Konami cart.
Would of prefered a limited edition themed console than just the standard grey one

It surprises me that they are putting the Tomb Raider Collection in with both the VS-R and EXP-R. Surely that's going to put people off buying both of those consoles... Why not have them different, like how the EXP came with the Irem cart and the VS had Technos Arcade etc...? 🤷♂I'm still pretty hyped for the Tomb Raider Collection though
Agreed. They should sell a bundle with both the handheld and the console and provide a discount due to only giving out one copy of Tomb Raider.
@@mayo-monster, that’s what I’m surprised about… individual releases are needed and I’m sure preferred by most, but I’m still really surprised there isn’t a £175 bundle for people to fully jump into the ecosystem with.

Crash and Spyro Bundle would be amazing to see too, but im still hoping we see more arcade games.
My feeling is that a soulus VS-R would make sense as there's nothing new with the hardware, whereas the EXP-R has some hardware updates and is the more premium product, so having a Giga Cart pack-in game makes sense and if you want the two consoles you wouldn't end up with 2 Tomb Raider Collections. Keep up the awesome work!
Speak for yourself, I'm an EXP owner who needs both a non-ugly VS and the TR cart.
Removing features isn't a selling point for another EXP if you already own one lmao

EXP-R looks like a light version of EXP with basically the same design, no Capcom games and PROBABLY a slightly better battery
Tomb Raider Collection looks cool though
I have the original handheld, VS and Taito pocket. Ill definitely pull the trigger on the EXP-R if the Canadian price is similar to the current exp. I only have about 40 carts and many are not compatible with the OG Handheld.

The Tomb Raider / EXP-R bundle is going to be $139.99CAD. I don't know if the console will be sold a la cart, but maybe that's one of the hardware announcements coming in Nov 2024.
Which carts are not compatible with the OG handheld? I have 35 cartridges and all of mine work perfectly in the handheld.
Us Tomb Raider fans are THRILLED this is happening, we've been begging for the original versions to be available easily like this for ages.
I have them on my modded Xbox and my Playstation classic and I don't even like tomb raider you could even play these on your phone easily

I'm not even a Tomb Raider fan, but was going to buy this cart, so I'm glad to see that it's the pack-in because I was planning to get a second VS (the R model now) for another room anyway (also to keep the old one hacked and the new one running stock firmware)...
@@bill4376this is just a ridiculous statement not everyone has the same access like you do nor do they have the ability to do what your doing.
Having games preserved is important and having them easily accessible literally doesn’t hurt you at all. Good for you but let others be excited THEY HAVE ACCESS to this.

At this point I'm holding off on buying games like the Tomb Raider collection just to see if Evercade picks them up. If they could get some old N64 games like Turok or the Soul Reaver games that were on Playstation, my budget would be ruined.
Seriously considering the new exp-r with the tomb raider cart. I still have my original handheld and when the exp runs out I go to it to continue play while the exp is charging. So it makes sense to me to get the new one.

I don’t own an Evercade machine, I’m leaning towards getting the Super Pocket. $60 is a great price point
I kinda like my Super Pocket more than my EXP. Not great for every game, but works pretty well and feels good to hold.
I bought my Taito edition on launch day mate, don't regret it a bit. IMO the Capcom comes with more appealing games for most people but I went Taito because their stuff is not as commonly available, and I prefer the colour scheme. They're not perfect but they are good, a few games require a firmware update to play on Superpocket, for example, but mostly everything is just plug 'n' play. The rear buttons take a bit of getting used to though but with the form factor being that of a Gameboy Colour they are true pocket devices.
I do hope they start doing cart reprints at some point.
As long as they've removed the texture warping like on the PC versions, that's a level of authenticity I don't need. Not a bad bundle pack in in all honesty, I know you could get all three for a couple of Quid in a Steam sale (I have noticed the price of the OGs have shot up, no doubt to promote the remakes) but these are the first official physical releases of the OG trilogy in over two decades. I do hope they release these as standalone carts, not for me but for people who already have Blaze products and want them without having to buy another console to get the cart. I'm sure Blaze will do that, there's likely a lot of excitement over this license coming to Evercade.
I have every handheld version and I will gladly be suckered into a new EXP-R version bundled with these 3 classic Tomb Raider games. I have always been a huge Tomb Raider fan since the beginning though owning the original on the PS1 in 1996. Love the new color scheme of the EXP-R too. Will pass on another VS as I am into the handhelds on the go more.
Great reaction vid. I agree, the hardware and indeed Tomb Raider is all about attracting new users and build up the Evercade fanbase, so we can see more investment in games. Glad, in a way, they aren’t messing too much with the winning hardware formula and it might be enough to push me into a VS purchase. Do wonder what the final game announcements are going to look like for Christmas though…

The VSR seems very reasonably priced with the Tomb Raider physical cart. Was going to hold out on hardware to see what was coming in Autumn and stick to my super pocket, However at that price it’s worth picking up anyway.

I called it! The console colors looking like Laura's clothes was too coincidental lol, Im glad I held off on getting the original EXP as I already had the IREM cart and I wouldn't even use the EXPs HDMI out. The EXP-R removing the HDMI and coming with a new game makes this a far better purchase.

The place I order all my Evercade games from advised they will be taking pre-orders for just the cart shortly.
This is great, I love the original ps1 tomb raider games and it would be awesome if they'd done a super pocket special edition as well but I'm just being greedy, the new consoles look great
I thought that would be the pack-in! I don't see what the point was of denying it for a few days...
I'm not excited by this at all because I really don't like the Tomb Raider games, but having said that, this could open up more possibilities with Crystal Dynamics. How about a Legacy of Kain or Pandemonium collection? Now I would definitely be interested in those!

Might buy into the EXP-R, but I'll definitely wait until the Next Big Thing if there's an alternate bundle around the corner (or even no bundle). My EXP hates my network and gets pretty warm.
As suspected there are very little changes to the VS-R. It's essential a reskin. The EXP-R sounds more substantial with a new board and possibly a reduced manufacturing process for the SOC.
I am tempted by the VS-R as i don't currently have one and want the Tomb Raider collection. However I am wondering what the November hardware will be? Part of me suspects they could just be bundles.
The exclusion of the Capcom games could also signify the license for those titles is lapsing. So we might see the retirement of the current Super Pocket later this year too. I wouldn't be surprised if both the Capcom and Taito editions are discontinued, with two new SP's later this year.
Now we know what Blaze classes as new hardware, is not really new, more a re-skin. So i can't see a V.2 coming this year, maybe in 2025 we will get some more power under the hood. As processing chips get cheaper and more advanced.
So what could we get this Christmas? I think its the long rumoured gun. Blaze did say "a new way to play" in one press release. A gun is a new way to play, and it would help push Christmas sales.
So maybe a Namco Time Crisis and Project Titan, giga cart is possible sold with a gun, and a VS reskin pack with gun and cart.
Interesting thoughts. You never know.
@@CrazyBurger I think with more cheap Chinese light gun consoles we see on the market, the more likely it is Blaze will see an opportunity to make sales. Not to mention that the licence holders are looking for a way to cash in on the market.
Do I really think we will get a gun, I'm 50/50. We do have "Bang" as a cart combo hidden game. The game that sparked the rumours of a light gun in the works.
I will wait and see, but I know what I'm asking Father Christmas for this year.
(But could make a fun video looking at game we could see if Blaze released a light gun)
I think I will get an EXP-R. Something about the original EXP seemed rushed or maybe the theft had something to do with it, but it seems like if you had an overheating unit/battery that could lead to a host of other problems. I’m glad that they have addressed this.
Never really got into Tomb Raider, but open to checking them out. I’m glad Blaze mentioned in the FAQ that most 32 bit games did not have analogue sticks. I see that as a frequent “want” from the community, but this whole Evercade experience has been about enjoying classic games and collecting physical media like it used to be.
I know a lot of people enjoy more modern ways to play games, but EverSDs and analogue controls and stuff just kind of seems beyond the point.
Hopefully Giga carts open up the entire PS1 library because there are a literal ton of games and licenses in that space that should now be open to Blaze.
Sadly, I think the Sega and Konami wish lists are not likely. Those conglomerates seem to be plenty happy with what they have going so far.
Sorry for the long comment! I just got a lot of direction/information from Blaze and CB today and am much more confident in the Evercade brand!

Being that the console is Evercade, I would expect the Tomb Raider games to be the originals. I'm sure I will enjoy their chunky-3D-pixel-goodness.
Super chuffed Blaze are getting bigger licenses. 😊 Not 100% sure if I'll get this though as the PS1 versions are £5 each on PSN.
Tomb Raider is a fascinating game, but to me, it was way too frustrating. I never got past the third level, or something. It also had something to do with the weird save system, where the save would always throw you back to the last invisible save point, but you never had a clear indication of where that savepoint was. Hopefully, savestates will resolve this problem. Also, Tomb Raider 1 gets quite disturbing in the last levels with all the flesh and gore on the walls.
If I could list my wishes for PS1 games, then I think we really need some of the excellent racing games, the system was so much known for. Games like Ridge Racer or Destruction Derby would be great. Unfortunately, Ridge Racer is Namco, so the likelyhood is small.
Lol yeah. It was janky. But for the time, they were very new and different.
Good luck capturing some Tomb Raider footage, I played the original Tomb Raider 1 last night and it feels painfully slow now. Hopefully these tweaks will speed it up for Evercade.
It was fine on my steam deck when I played it a few months ago.

The TR1 footage shown by Evercade ran at the correct 60 Hz speed, it shouldn't be an issue.
@@calypsisI'm too used to 3d person games being a bit more faster s half the problem. I've since had another bash and I was getting more used to it at 50hz. I died on the swinging blades tho as I forgot they were there. 😀
Tomb Raider at 60hz will be a first for me but yeah does look faster in the footage. 👍
Hopefully this is the start of some real big names games due in this year . this already eclipses the Duke Nukem cartridges

I think I would definitely go for the new one. The old EXP has many flaws. Hopefully this new model will address those. Ah.. what's bigger than Tomb Raider? Doom? Sonic?

Why is the EXP-R so more expensive in the UK than America. £100 & $100 ($100 = £80).
The standard and the Giga carts and the VS-R are cheaper in the UK. So why the hell is the EXP-R £20 more in the UK????
I know.. whilst I was reading that I paused cause it seemed a bit odd..
US prices never included tax as it varies by State.
At the end of the day thanks to exchange rate etc we're still usually probably paying more than them but yeah, it's not the full price.
@@IHeart16BitYou are *DEFINITELY* pay much more in the U.K. The highest sales tax rate in the U.S. is about 9.5% so $100 + tax = $109.50 which is still much cheaper than £100 (approx. $125).

If it isn't enough of an improvement to justify upgrading and it doesn't have a stand alone release, then I'm not interested. I don't want to waste my money on another piece of faulty hardware like the EXP, which I primarily caught interest in for the new features and Capcom ports. And I'm also not interested in the Tomb Raider series, especially if it's going to cost more than the other carts, which are already expensive as is in Australia, with high shipping costs added in..
Did everyone hear about how the newly released Tomb Raider Remastered collections were *censored* after they were released? 😡 This news broke yesterday. Does anyone know if this Evercade Tomb Raider Collection will also be censored so it appeals to a “modern audience”? 🙄

I expect the 2nd giga cart will be a bundle with both R consoles too, so if you buy tomb raider VSR come November you could buy a GTA or resident evil EXPR
