- Friday May 12 saw ferry operator, CalMac running its first commercial sailing from Brodick to Ardrossan utilising MV Alfred which is being leased from Pentland Ferries on a nine month charter. The Arran Banner sailed on that very first sailing and have created this video report of the historic occasion.
Wonderful to see the beautiful Isle of Arran again. Brings back some wonderful memories of holidaying for 10 summers on Arran. Traveling over on Cal Mac MV Glen Sannox (1957). And trips around the Kyle's of Bute on the paddle steamer Waverley.
I love the Isle of Arran 😊❤
Sorry to say. That when we tried to book for Arran, there was only one ferry in service, and it wasn't looking reliable. So we booked somewhere else. This must be frustrating for the businesses on this island, and other Scottish islands. Who wants to be stranded on an island.
Does this crossing take the same time as the normal CalMac Ferries? Going on this route in Seprember.
A million a month?😯
Could’ve been purchased for little more than the total leasing cost.
Scottish economics.
Absolutely right as some body pointed the facilities at ardrossan are not the greatest northern ireland
Ah! A Scottish ferry that actually works! Obviously not CalMac.
The organisation at Ardrossan pier looked a bit lacking?
And how bad does that pier look!
The least they could've done was get rid of the weeds & tidied it up a bit 🥴🥴
