    At 69 years--I was looking for comfort and stability. My racing frame days are long over. After researching in the trek family the low step Verve 1 came up- got one--- then got a Verve 2 a month later. I alternate them. With MIK racks.... they have been exactly what I was looking for!

    Awesome review, I have the 2022 Trek Verve 3 size S in Mulsanne Blue. I got it a few months back and have put in so far around 700 miles. It is an excellent commuter bike and got me through the NYC 5 boro bike tour. This bike rides very smooth. The more I cycle, I notice it is quite nimble on pavement, reaching speeds of 15-20mph with ease. I like how the Verve 3 combines features from the FX and dualsport and still allows for a comfortable ride

    • @HKX_ORANGECHICKEN

      Looking to get the verve 1. Would you recommend the verve over the fx1 and dual sport 1? Just looking for a bike to ride.... no need for super fast speed or crazy mountain biking

    • @malikrthr1
      @malikrthr1 2 роки тому +1

      I'd prefer the Verve 1. I have never ridden the dual sport but have test rode rhe FX. With the FX, you'll reach higher speeds with ease but you would be sitting in a neutral position while cycling. With the Verve, it is more comfortable in my opinion but requires slightly more effort to pick up speed, but still the Verve is a quick and comfortable bike. I'd go for the Verve series if your looking for a bike to ride

    • @gustavogo2915

      Nice! I got an FX3 but returned it since my back is messed up. What’s the furthest you take your verve 3 on a single ride? I’m planning on 30 to 40 mile rides but not sure if the Verve 3 is good for such distances. I used to do 30 milers on my folding bike but it made my back worse

    • @malikrthr1
      @malikrthr1 Рік тому +1

      The FX3 looks like a great bike but for the back, I am not sure how it would be long term. I do sometimes get back spasms so I thought the Verve 3 would be a good alternative to the FX3 since it is designed for both relaxed rides and fitness rides.I have been able to keep up with a few FX bikes on my Verve 3. The furthest I have been on my Verve 3 for a single ride is 45 miles. The Trek Verve 3 is definitely good for distances of 30-40 miles. I exchanged the stock seat for a more comfortable seat from Amazon because the stock seat had no cushion. Padded bicycle shorts may also help as well for a bit more of a comfortable ride.

    • @imprisonedone8054
      @imprisonedone8054 Рік тому

      @@Steven_Falcon The pros its comfortable against back and neck pain and has an upright position, this bike is like the Dualsport model but except its upright, it can also take rough terrain and also you can destroy people uphill. Cons you may feel that the saddle is terrible I got the Sell Royale that came with the bike and that almost destroyed my perineum (but this is different for everyone else), so you gotta buy a new saddle if it doesn’t fit your ass, You have too many gears its understandable, because this is an trekking bike, but so confusing for me, you don’t have a lot of speed and its a pretty heavy bike in comparison with the ds and fx models, but great for commuting.

    I'm hoping to pick mine up today. Interesting that not only the grips are swapped out due to supply chain issues, but also the disc calipers were switched from the Shimano ones shown on Trek's website. Are these cheaper components? Should we be paying less because of that?

    • @Mike-up6go
      @Mike-up6go 2 роки тому +2

      If you would complain hard enough to your Trek dealer, they more then likely will order the original spec'd parts for you and swap them out when they come in. I have personally seen that happen . If not, I would demand somewhat of a price reduction since the parts substituted for the most part are always a cheaper build and price.

    Out of curiousity, does having a rear rack with utility trunk bag mounted to the Trek Verve 3 weigh down the bike or wear out the frame over time I was just curious because as I had my rear rack with the utility trunk bag on back, it added some weight to the bicycle when it was full. Debating between using a drawstring bag vs utility trunk bag for picnics.

    • @imprisonedone8054

    • @malikrthr1
      @malikrthr1 Рік тому

      Adding the rack and packing the trunk bag will increase the overall weight. The bike alone without the rack/frame bag will have a reduced total weight. I agree, the quality of Trek is high with their alpha gold aluminum

    I've got this bike for almost 6 months. Everything is fine, except that I feel it is too heavy and slow. I also have a 2018 DS2 and it feels lighter to ride. I am thinking of maybe changing tires to something like the FX tire, 700x35. Do you think that would be OK or is it too slim for the body of verve 3?

    • @Mike-up6go
      @Mike-up6go 2 роки тому +3

      Thinking same thing. I have the Verve 3 in XL frame Mulsanne Blue. I called Trek dealer and was told you can go as narrow as 700x32 in tire size. ( I will probably go to the 700x35) Also loosen the quill stem, drop the entire handlebar down as far as it will go and rotate the stem extension so it is parallel to the ground. That way I will be stretched out more forward on the bike and in a much more efficient aero type position ( as much as one can be on a bike like this ) Also, the Trek website states the rims on the Verve 3 are tubeless ready. A bit more weight can be lost going that direction. If you want to ride really upright you can plus with a couple minutes of adjustments you can make your position more stretched out and aerodynamic. Very versatile that way.

    The 11-36 will mess up cadence, big gaps in gearing especially in low gears. "Hard gear for better workout" is stupid. Good workout is a steady cadence and whatever speed you can handle on the terrain. Hard gear and less than 65 rpm (pedals) is hard on knees, a bad idea. Cadence should be 70+ rpm on pedals and faster if you have shoes with cleats that lock in.

      During the time of this review, it was incredibly common for spec changes like that. For the most part the spec changes are working their way through, but certainly something to look at for those of us buying used bikes over the next couple of years

    The handlebars are too far in front of the seat. So a rider has to lean forward with straight arms, elbows locked, and bend their neck back to see ahead. Just like a road racer. So I would say it cannot be defined as a comfort bike because the rider cannot sit upright and still reach the grips.
