Just to clarify, I would argue to score to both athletes. However is head touchs the ground which is why they gave the score to the french judoka. Also we can see that the french stops the attack before trying to counter... it is not one motion, it´s two separate motions. Still, for me, no score for both
I thought the first was FRA going for a sumi gaeshi and failing, while the second was FRA going for ura nage and also failing. It can be argued about who initiated the throw, but I thought it looked like FRA was active and moving into his throw just a moment before the japanese hooked the leg in both cases.
I have heard referee explain that they look at the logo/letters in the middle of the back. If they can see it at all times, the back did not touch the mat, so it is not ippon. But to me this is a silly rule: such a big throw with control--that should be the criterion, not whether the middle of the back touched the mat.
Excellent explanation, maruyama made some very beautiful uchimata. If you want to see something more about the world of judo you can watch my channel ;)
Takeoka's back dont even touches the ground

Благодарю за подборку! 👍🙏
Thoughts on Ono retiring ?
what do u think about japan barely sending judokas to the masters
-66KG ....always interesting..👍👏👏
For me both situations are no score, in both the japanese tries a throw and in both the other one try to counter it but they fail, so no score.
1.46 is sumi gaeshi not sumi otoshi. I agree the first two scores should have gone to the Japanese player.
Breaking news,
Ono considering his retirement from major competitions...
4.22 is 100% ippon
