PoT's dinosaur models aren't especially unique, but are more grounded and informed by modern science, thus attracts a certain audience who don't want to see dinosaurs thirty years out of date (cough, omniraptor)

@@goldfishmentality PoT's realism ends with the accuracy of it's dinosaur designs. Because when you try to make everything else realistic you get The Isle's performance and along with pretty much every balance problem it has.
@@alunaticwithashotgun9840 Realism works on a "good enough" principle, and even the biggest realism nut will prefer optimisation and 'game design existing whatsoever' over "realism". What you want is immersion; not realism.
Paths designs aren’t perfect. While for the most part they are good, there’s a few nitpicks. For one ankylosaurs cannot move their tails that high vertically, so Anos tail slam in reality would be unfeasible to achieve. Hadrosaurs also likely couldn’t kick like horses. Maybe a cow like kick if anything but their forelimbs are far too small for them to do what they do in game.
Tbf they do update the models like with lambeo and struthio. And if they're still not updated you can have modded redesigns like with pachy, eotrike and rex. Modding can be a mixed bag but there are still some pretty impressive designs that have come out or are in development.
Ignoring the lags and bad optimisation.
I think we all can agree that the reasons that Path of Titans is more popular is either because it’s more accessible or arguably more developed, relatively speaking. Not a solid superiority.

The isle is still a bad game. Bad gameplay loop and it’s infested with hackers. No amount of graphics and animations can change that.
@@MrTickles445 I mean, It doesnt have a bad gameplay loop, although it needs more 'end game' content. People can nest, they just choose to be impatient pvp trolls. Also, not everyone feels that way anyways(that the gameplay loop is bad, even with 'bad' 'endgame').
I think the gameplay loop is not only fine, its WAY more finished and WAY better than POT by every metric and its not even close in any way.
And that has nothing at all to do with graphics or animations.(or movement, or combat more broadly and dynamically, or resource management, all of which the isle has in spades over pot)

The game play loop is quite boring because you spend a few hours growing which only when you’re fully grown is when you start having fun and I wish there was customization to your Dino’s in terms of abilities and gameplay styles like BoB or pot.

imo path of titans is better its gotten more updates in a year then the isle could ever have in 14 years
More doesn't necessarily mean better. Quality > Quantity. And both games suffer from opposite ends of that spectrum.

@@SamuRhino2023 the isle has objectively better graphics/lighting/effects. And Path of Titans has a significantly more amount of content. Both games however suffer from their fair share of bugs and connectivity issues. The Isle has horrible optimization and fps... Whereas PoT has incredible desync problems.
But you can't randomly die to cliffs
The isle struggles with the lack of content (dinos) + a map that is completlely empty, you can run for hours without finding ANYTHING
2:02 Eeeeh, launch day Cyberpunk was worse in my opinion, and it was made by a massive tripple-A studio like CD Project Red, they messed up so bad that they completely abandoned some of the very big promises they made, the game turned out pretty good anyway but that's not my point here, with The Isle devs we are yet to see how the game ends up, so far it looks like they are making slow but steady progress towards what they have promised.
Also I'd make features category a tie, mostly because it's subjective, for example if I was going off of my own prefferences I'd give The Isle 1 point and then give PoT a -2, not because it's bad but because it's just not what I prefer in what's supposed to be a dinosaur survival game.
Edit: Also an important thing that needs to be mentioned is that even if there was a scenario where both games fixed literally all their problems and were completely perfect a lot of people would probably dislike one of them. The Isle will at the end of the day be a hardcore horror survival game, and PoT is... Well I don't really know what PoT is trying to be but it's certainly not THAT.
And that's an awesome thing to have, because this way technically everyone should be happy, like if you like one of them and don't like the other it is quite pointless to argue about which one is better, people should just enjoy what they enjoy and STOP BEING AN ASS, and that applies to both PoT's community and The Isle's. Like yea I don't like PoT AND THAT'S WHY I DON'T PLAY IT, IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL !
PoT community servers are becoming a VRChat but with dinosaurs.
I’d say none of these games are worth buying until more content gets added. If you really feel inclined to buy one of these early access games, then path has more freedom and is more forgiving
I can't say for ISLE but i can say you are missing out in PoT 😉
One important thing every creator misses about afordability is regionalization. While to (i.e) US players 20 to 30 dollars isn't THAT much of a difference, for third world players using steam the difference is MUCH bigger. In Brazil, The Isle costs 37 reais (Roughly 4,5 dollars) while Path of Titans is 150 reais (30 dollars).

This is a very well summed up video, well establishing why people play one game or the other.
A point I wanna add is that performance for the isle, at least in my experience, isn’t always bad, but granted I have good specs. It differs per update, but there have been times for me where it ran amazingly. It’s also great seeing that the devs have said and shown that they want to improve performance and eliminate bugs. This is the whole point of the next update that is currently hoardetesting.
In the end though, I honestly don’t think there’s much to compare with both games as they are very different experiences from one another. Just play what you like. There is nothing wrong if you dislike the other, OR if someone likes the other and you don’t.
I agree with you, there are very different games. Sometimes I feel like POT players that were previously playing The Isle were playing The Isle because there were no games like POT at the time.
I mean the isle will be great... in 10 years at current dev time. Don't ever be hyped up for promised features in it and take it for what is in it right now. After you get bored return to it in a couple years and get a a couple new viable dinos to try out.
POT with its modding scene and faster dev time lets you experience vastly more content with the drawback that its lower quality and much less immersive.
Finally any comparrison would be pointless without mentioning that path has something to do whilst you grow, its repetative and literally collecting rocks flowers etc, but it forces people to not sit in bushes for up to 5 hours taking up afk slots (for a fatal error to occur or constant frame drops to kill you, then repeat) such as what you see in the isle.
This causes much more pvp hunts to occur with dinos below full adult stage and makes the game not just a glorified waiting simulator.
I'd personally never play Path Of Titans unless I was gifted it, and even then it wouldn't replace the time I spend in The Isle mostly because of the base game growth being an absurdly long fetch quest. My other reason is community servers since like you said lots of players don't treat it like a survival game and I've dealt with enough rule servers and admin abuse in my legacy Isle days to ever want to touch it again and no rule servers tend to be just as painful if not worse.
Isle growth takes waay longer and is way more boring imo
tbh when it comes to quality between the isle and path I always think that the isle is more realistic looking while path always seemed a bit cartoony to me.
In my personal experience I enjoy The Isle far more than PoT (No I’m not saying I support the Dondi or anything like that), it’s just my kind of game.
PoT I will admit is in a far better place than The Isle I just find PoT…Bland. It doesn’t feel like an actual survival game. (Yes I know it’s an MMO but everyone calls it a survival game)
The Isle and Path of Titans are two completely different beasts and sometimes I feel like it’s rather unnecessary to compare the two.
Ive always glanced in from the outskirts when it comes to the isle and ended up getting path first last year until enough videos and the summer sale drove me to buy the isle recently. I am glad I did cause I heavily prefer it even through the issues and my pc barely managing to run the game. It just hits that survival itch so much better
I tried to play officials on Pot and things I noticed is herbis will attack carnis to the death just for fun. And most carnivores r chill. Apex’s love to mix pack and raptors r the only ones who play it like a survival. The hitboxes + the lag could cost u ur life
what servers are ermvia servers in the isle
i always wanted to play dinosaur survival game in realistic way, got about 30 hours on the isle, couldnt find any good realism servers, and i disliked some designs. Suprisingly i found many great hard realism servers on PoT and im still enjoying them.
Bob feels the most complete imo. But can feel clunkier. POT takes the piss with some of its DLC, but the Isle's dev teams leaves something to be desired. And my laptop cant run it anywhere near as well as BOB or POT. So for me, POT is maybe more fun, but BOB is a better game.
But as much as POT can be a walking sim, ive had the most fun with it
I've finally given up on the Isle.
I think the isle will turn out to be a pretty good game if the devs actually do what they say they're planning, and server owners will be able to customize basically everything about the game in their server so it'll be rlly hard for the game to actually be bad when u have so much customization to it imo.
I get 60-100 frames in the isle, I play on max graphics and yet I use a gtx 1070, maybe its because I have really good CPU memory etc. Also the isle is gonna have mods as some point last time I checked. I also personally think that the isle has increased its development by allot recently. Also for the completeness of path of titans I already find the isle to just barely surpass path of titans, that might just be prefference on my end but I do own both games. (btw I love your content:) )
I think mods are subjective in the isle, half the dev team hate mods with a passion so it's difficult to say whether or not they would be implemented.
In the video you said u only have to buy the pot once? Is that a mistake i bought pot on console but then switched over to pc so i was just Wondering how that would work ? (Edit) So I figured it out thanks to this vid just saved 30$ and earned a new subscriber

Path and the Isle are totally different proposals from each other, the Isle is unfortunately a very good and much superior game, but today Path is a much more enjoyable game because of the mods, the mods help make players more patient, the island unfortunately doesn't have mods and when the update comes, people play for about 4 weeks and stop and go back to the path because of the mods, which makes me upset and the island is still in beta and will continue in 10 years and until then path will continue to grow and the island also I think that with rex arriving I think it will boom
Ah, talks about superiority again. None of these games is superior over another. It is all about preferences and, what is more important, about the accessibility. I have friends who told me straightaway that they would like to play TI more, but they simply cannot enjoy the game with such low framerate. The game cannot be even launched due to the Dx12 issue for vast numbers of players. Someone who can either play one or look at desktop icon of the other one is going to make very quick decision and that is pretty much it.

When I brought Path of Titans it cost £25.99 or £26.99 and it included mark thing so I could purchase the all dino pack so can get all official dinos. I dont have a pc so cant play the isle

Well that's not really a fault of the game, that's just how it's designed, and the result of having so many options for each dinosaur. If you want more uniqueness, play the isle. That's what the game is made to do. PoT tries to make every dinosaur into a template for people to create their own dinosaur
@@goldfishmentality I'm calling it a lazy approach, like it wouldnt take much effort for isle developers to release popular dinos like rex, spino, allo, etc. And make an easy profit from it without putting much effort, but they rather trying to make it as complicated as they possibly can, which is really pushing the genre the most I think and like that approch. I think it's better to wait and eventually get something better rather then get smth quickly which is bad quility. Whatever, from this point I'm just curious what pot will be able to show since they roll out all the major dino and hasn't introduced something unique, they squashed out the lemon as much as they can, while the isle has plenty to offer

i started on the isle legacy because i always wanted to play as a dinosaur since like 2017 😭🙏 but overall i like PoT better i like the fact it at least has stego and you can outrun apexes if you need to, the legacy stego has no chance against giga or rex when it comes to fleeing. i know there’s evirma but i don’t even wanna die and restart lmao official PoT makes it feel like you own the dinosaur considering when you die you only lose like half a bar of growth. the isle if good for the views and realism but not the combat fr

I like both games i like the isle for the true survival experience and i play it more often but i play pot time to time
I tried so hard to enjoy the isle after having probably 1000’s of hours in pot but I just cannot get into it. I find it odd that they made such a good looking game then turn the lights off 80% of the time so it’s black and white. The start to grow is fill up on food at a hot spot then hide is just boring as hell and even if you decide “right I’m going to go out into the world a bit” instantly killed by a mix pack or a herbi player who just wants to kill everything. Then back to the start. The furthest I ever grew a dino was cera that got to about 80% by getting a perfect diet then hiding and going shopping leaving the game running 😂 it’s just missing the fun part of the game for me.

sry mate, but, the 2070 super is a 5 years old mid range GPU. I have the RTX 3080, which is also almost 4 years old and it runs the isle with ease at 60 FPS. not to mention any (2 years old) RTX 40** GPU. in general your argument that a PC is more expensive than a mobile phone and so you give 2 points to PoT is strange to me. with this logic every mobile game gets a 2 points lead to every PC game.
you have 60 FPS at star citizen? how many do you have at the beginning of a quantum drive? 2-3 FPS? I guess you know what I am up to ;-)
another point I disagree are the features. PoT just looks like they have much more in my opinion. for example, the whole quest system is nothing else than collect 25 flowers, pick 20 branches and so on. the diet system of the isle is pretty much the same. you have many different plants to go for. yes, doing all the quests offers more gameplay than getting your diet. but, the whole quest gameplay is repetitive up to a point where it is nothing but annoying anymore. even more because it is exactly the same for each dino.
your feature arguments for PoT were, homebase, growth, complex character optimization, moding, replay features and much more.
well, you can put them in comparison to features the isle offers. like the scent feature, a nesting feature, a night vision (yeah, it's a bad one, still a feature), different forms of venom effects (incl. hallucinations), a gore feature, the migration feature and much more ;-)
these games offer very different features, but, I don't feel like PoT offers more. feature complete? none of them is any close to it. the isle still has many things to come and PoT also has many features to still complete. like the growth (I guess you mean quests) and the complex character optimization (abilities). both aren't close to be feature complete. didn't PoT also aim for a nesting feature in the past? what happened? XD
anyway, even if I disagree at some points, it's a good video and in the end you made the most important point which I couldn't agree more on. the different communities. in my opinion you can't compare these two games at all because of that. like you said very well in the end, it very much depends on what type of game you are looking for. PoT is a fun dino game delivered in a RPG style. the isle is a sandbox survival game with a tendency towards simulation. it really depends on what type of game you prefer.

11:30 more development time? It's been in development for almost 10 years now, I thinks it's safe to say that the Isle will forever be a broken promise. My guess is that another bigger developer will fill the needs of both POT and The Isle and ultimately make the Isle dead and POT a very niche game. Hopefully we get a triple A dino survival game in the vein of these two but I don't think that will be for a while unfortunately

You need to check your PC settings bc my 2070 Super get me wayyyy more than 40 fps on The Isle Evrima. You made it sound like the game is unplayable..
Today in PoT i was a sarco at ic in the jurassichub server with 2 sachis, 2 sarcos and lots of anos, the anos were killing everything so i decided to grab a ano and pull it into the water, everything in the water attacked but they immediately changed there mind and one sarco put it on land and the sachis killed me.... does that sound right? The care bear mixpackers in PoT are the most annoying thing ever.. and i never played the isle but from what it seems like, theres lots of hackers, mixpackers, toxic people, and lag both games are not perfect and i think it is because the people playing them.. they ruin the game imo, all the isles problems are manely caused by the people playing and people playing PoT treat the game like roblox, none of the game are perfect and i hope for the best of both of them, but i dont know if that can happen and if both games competing with eachother were both extremely popular that could create i even mkre toxic situation between the 2 games imo. If i were to try to "fix/change" PoT i would most definitely make the quests more interesting and you will get very slow passive growth but quests will help (i know they will change the quests but im still inculding it) if you were juvie/adolescent you would get quests to hide from big creatures if they were near-by, if you get a sertent amount of distance away from the bigger creature you complete the quest and get extra growth and marks for abilitys, there would be nesting (i know they will ad that to) and as a parent you will get a quest to raise your kids to a age and kick them out or live with them depending on the creature you are or the quest, as a lone carnivore you will get quests to kill a certain species (almost a diet system but not) like allos get quests to kill stegos or something, if your a lone herbivore you get quests to make nests and mate.. i never played the isle so idk exactly what to do for this game to "fix/change" but ill do my best, first off the new camera system will not happen at all, i would do my best to make it able to play it on consle and other devises but there may not be enough controls on a controller to do so for the isle, i would make nesting easier and more simple, there will be a tutorial for new players and i would add apexs such as, rex, trike, and duck, i would change (this will be an option for community servers) if you die you dont lose everything and admins for community servers will chose how much you lose depending for each creature. And thats what i would change and how i feel about both games,

I do want to point out in the isle evrima you can only talk to people of the same dino and you dont meet that much toxic people. But in path of titans theres a global chat with super toxic people and you have huge mixpacks in pot way more than evrima. The most egrigous thing is these huge mixpacks dont get punished even if u fought and slowly win theyll just switch dinos from closest hc and kill you. Then when they do kill you. They go into global chat and be toxic to you and the mixpacking has been getting worse and worse in pot. And pot punishes you for being an adult by giving you a debuff when u first spawn in. Also the hc debuff can kill you when your just trying to get food near a hc then someone who dosent have the debuff comes and kill you. These are just a few problems i have with pot that are not as prevalent or even nonexistent issues in evrima.
The only reason why I enjoy Path of Titans more is because it has a larger variety of dinosaurs that I forgot even exist

I say one can't compare these two, because PoT isn't even finished yet. I've been playing and supporting it since the earliest alpha ( back when there wasn't even a multiplayer yet ).
Since then it's been worked on constantly with changes being added every 3-4 months. New game modes will come, nesting, bigger roster, more skins and quest types + rewards and achievements.
I do not agree with Anodontosaurus being made an example of, while TI has things like the hyper-mega-ultra-sayan-hybrids. None of the dinosaur designs of TI are natural. They are roaring scifi monsters. I would've understood if you mentioned PoTs Metri, becaue they completely made up the design. (Only a hipbone or a vertibrae was found I think.)
Cerato is also not accurate I've been told.
I like pot better because its devs can handle criticism and listen to feedback from the community. I still can't trust the isle devs to do much of anything after the many years of Dondi and his temper tantrums along with the paradigm shift incident from a while back. im sure im forgetting many more instances of the isle devs many MANY issues but honestly the whole thing could fill out half a bible on it's own and i would rather just forget that the isle even existed

i prefer the isle and latest hordetesting gives me a lot of hope for it in the future. i bought pot.. just doesnt do it for me. its too hectic a game i feel, not bad at all just not the dino survival i want and enjoy

I just don’t like the bugs and devs choices (most of them) of the isle path is fun but I don’t like walking sims lol so I’ve been playing the isle mostly even though I play it on laptop and I play path on ps5 the devs of path make good choices the roster is meh like you said they could just add anky to the roster who cares if the isle already has it on there roster it’s a damm dinosaur
Played the Isle a couple times, never grew to adult because of the lack of anything the game gives you lol and the night lighting was unbearable, while I understand its realistic I don't wanna play a game that I cant see half the time

honestly i would say that path of titans is better but i still love the isle they are trying to go for quality over quantity but more going for over quality so most can’t play over quantity because the deinonychus mode alone will stutter your fps they can reduce the polygons without making it ugly very easily but over time path of titans puts more updates out with the same level of quality (because the models although ugly the coding they put in out ways the isle) path of titans will succeed over the isle and i’d hate to see that because how much i love both games
Saying you only need to buy the game once is strictly false. If you bought it on PlayStation but want to play on the switch you will have to buy it again just so you can login to the same account and play. To be fair PC you can download just the launcher and login with your account but this is not an option for consoles.

Im sticking with the Isle because, it encapsulates everything I want in a dinosaur. Sure SOME of the developers are assholes but, some of them aren't. Also some people don't understand how hard it is to make pretty in-depth mechanics. What I love about the Isle is that each dino has a unique playstyle and character. I will happily wait a bit longer for dinosaurs when they actually have unique mechanics. Path of Titans feels just really bland for me and I absolutely despise the quest system and the game just feels way less immersive which is what I want in a dinosaur game.

path of titans has much relaxed players and nice dinosaurs sound like nice dinosaurs and has mods too, dinosaurs have maaany attacks and buffs but it can be sometimes laggy becausd when you play on computer and you try to catch a laggy nintendo player or something, has not the best grafics and weather like the grow and questsystem and the jump, swim and runningspeed are not really too goos like a deinonychus cant jump over a sarco or something bigger bc the hitbox is too big and the jumphigh is nah and the dlcs cost too much
the isle has very nice grafict with very nice abilities like the ability by all the dinos and every dinosaur has his own ability and strength like the weather is nice, looks nice and is much more realistic, costs less than path of titans and has legacy and evrima so you dknt need to buy all the dlcs, in legacy are soooo many dinosaurs and there are mods too and hypos, quetz, developer, unoffizial servers like offizial, very good growsystem and even nesting and the scent thing and you can even buy dinosaurs on some discord servers but has very toxic players, on evrima there are not so much dinos like on legacy, has slow development, too many players on some server sometimes, no globalchqt on offizial evrimaservers now
i hope if someone read this he will be able to buy the best game for him of these 2

It's so funny how Path of Titans is a barely viable minimum product and still the undisputed king of the subgenre. No story, barely any gameplay loop, just enough realism to fit in with modern sciences aesthetics while also ever so often betraying that they either don't actually do any research or will readily slap more group-stereotypical gameplay styles on more unique animals "just because", and a "free trial" mobile game ass monetization structure...
All that, and the Isle, which has been in the works for a decade, is being left in the dust.
It would just be sad at this point if you couldn't trace every single problem the game has back to hasty, uninformed, headass decisions the developers made. This way it's just aggravating instead.
Man, at least the isle has PASSIVE GROWTH. Man, I wasted my money on P.O.T. PLEASE, if you want to play a good dino game, then play literaly any dino game other than P.O.T

I don't hate Path of Titans but I'll always put the isle first. That's not because I'm an isle stan, but because I don't even consider path of titans to be a creature survival game. It's survival mechanics are mid at best and the questing system is completely pointless. When I play pot it tastes like a big fat nothing burger. There's quite a lot of mechanics but none of them feel satisfying to engage with. From a fundamental level, I think the pot gameplay loop is dull and repetitive. While The Isle tries and fails most of the time to create a creature survival game, Path of Titans doesn't even try. It's essentially a roleplaying game pretending to be a survival game.
It's really just not a survival game, or at least, the community prevents it from being one

But it isnt a survival game at all, and its not like.... a REAL game. Its a game in the way minigames and phone games are games.... Sure.... its technically a game. Sort of.

I wish I had a good computer to play the Isle. Path of Titans is not really what I thought it was going to be, I’ve learned to like it. But I would like to try a real Dino survival game, Path of Titans is definitely not that.
They’re actually reworking the Questing system to be better currently and are reworking planning to rework dinosaurs. Also PoT is only around 4 years old, it’s still a new game. PoT is a MMO RBG not technically a straight survival game and the developers update the game frequently, the game actually got a huge update a few days ago.
You forgot that The isle have no way to save your progress once you die making you lose hours of grownth in mere seconds

The main problem with The Isle for me is that the game is veeeery boring 90% of the time.
And yes, everybody can joke with the "lol, picking flowers, lol" but at least i CAN do something other than eating and then afk-ing for two hours and eat again, and afk for another two hours, and again, and again.

How so? The precise movement is really nice. I prefer evrimas momentum based movement, but I don't think POT's is even remotely as limiting as legacy
For me it just boils down to Path of Titans being infinitely more enjoyable than The Isle. I don't care if it has arguably worse graphics or fewer mechanics, POT is just so much more fun (in my opinion), which is why its popularity has increased so drastically in the last year or so.

The isle better graphics better models better animations but pot time playing is worth it cause you progress and get stuff earn stuff keep dinos and can grow multiple but the isle feels like worthless very fun time
In path of titans u can lose apex’s to 2-3 latens not to mention the fact this is literally update isle legacy with mods saying its better is a genuine lie
Combat is absolutely not it's strongsuit. The point of this video is to prove that these games are good at entirely different things, and that comparing them isn't all that useful

As a player who owns both games, the only reason path of Titans is more popular is because of accessibility. If you’re looking for realism or even a trace of a survival game, don’t even bother with Path of Titans. That’s not at all what it is. If you wanna run around for hours, searching for collecting pinecones and mushrooms as a dinosaur. Then path of Titans is for you. All of the detractors from evrima complain about the fact that you have to restart when you die. Surprise! that’s what happens when you’re playing a survival game. If I could get my money back for Path of Titans, I would. Oh sidenote, the community in path of Titans isn’t any more welcoming than the Isle. I’ve had way more toxic interactions with other players in path of Titans.
