Thank God for our military. A U.S. marine literally saved me from drowning at the beach at Camp Pendleton (San Diego county, California) when I was a teenager. My family and I were there visiting my stepdad's brother-in-law, a marine, and we were spending the day at the private beach when I decided to do some swimming and body surfing and got pushed under by a big wave. This process is a lot more humane than it was in my era. During Vietnam, training time was cut because of the dire need for replacements in the field. That's where the Full Metal Jacket intensity comes from. The Corps wants recruits to succeed but they also want to spot those who can't make it or might be problems before live fire exercises start. That's a big part of induction "hell night". Most are terrified and confused. A few truly get it and take it in stride. A good DI can spot the wash-outs usually in that first half hour. That said, in an era where "boots on the ground" is no longer a deciding factor, we are still teaching recruits to fight WW1, but this is only initial training. From here they move on across the country to various specialty schools ranging from cyber warfare to PSYOPS. This is just the foundation and literally "the basics". The Corps has changed since my day and I see good changes. Respect for the individual is growing as is the idea of looking for personal strengths and abilities to be cultivated and developed. The DIs are not beasts. They seek to develop spinal-reflex actions that will keep recruits alive.
+Mikephx See also the Army's "Shark Attack" and the Navy's "Un-Smurfing", assuming they still exist. Last time I was at the Veteran's Hospital I had (unsurprisingly) a long wait, so I read the latest Army Times. It was basically "kids these days are all internet and ipods and ain't got no gumption harumph harumph" versus "kids these days are all internet and ipods and can fix a drone warrior but we'll unnecessarily piss off the best ones and make them refuse to re-up if we yell at them all day".

I met with my recruiter today. I am currently signing up to become a marine. I am nervous and anxious but also looking forward to this new opportunity and transformation.
You arent gonna have fun but I guarantee you will learn some semblance of humility. If you had parents that let you walk all over them your whole life or you are spoiled, the corps will fix you up. If you had a hard life from a broken home, it will be easier for you. Just remember this isnt about YOU. Its about ALL recruits. You are there together. It will be much easier if you become close and work together. Good luck!
Watered down from when I entered the Corps in 69. I personally went back and thanked my D.I.s Gunnery Sgt. Fox, S/Sgt Cooper, and S/Sgt White for saving my ass in Vietnam, I was 16 years old when I entered boot camp.
I was a marine for 30 minutes then realized when the Marine Recruit Depot bus pulled up I was in the wrong line. I stepped out, instructed the Marine of my mistake. After a good tongue lashing I found the Navy kiosk in the airport and was on my way to the right training.
For many, the hardest moment in USMC boot camp: waking up on day 2. Luckily, though, there's not much time to weep or piss and moan. For many, the best moment in USMC boot camp: witnessing your SDI actually offering you a handshake. Many have cried right there. (Well.... immediately after he's moved on.) My dad, who's just short of being a Marine Corps motard, admitted this to me.
I went to marine boot camp in 1995 still the hardest thing I've ever had to do but it's made me push myself beyond what most people think they can do when my car broke down I jumped on my bicycle and rode 34 miles round trip at 48 I have a different mind set from boot camp alone would do it again

been watching a ton of marine videos lately. I have been wanting to join the military since high school ( graduated 2018 ), I just need to get down to the required weight ( never was good at letting go of junk food til recently ) to go to boot camp. Loosing weight is hard. but I started my current diet at 330lbs a few months ago. i am a male 22yrs at 5'5. I am now 284lbs. I spoke to a recruiter over the phone a few days ago, and said I'd need to get down to at least 173lbs in order for boot camp. Looking to Join in winter 2023/2024. depending how quickly I loose weight.
It's almost tragic that human existence is just not possibly as elegant as Marine Corps recruit training. It's hard to express the longing I feel for those days.

ACEGaming coward and this is gold from someone who is a past by nature and still determined to join the marines corps or coastal guard
Ľøŕď Šâťáņ Jőņëş really the Marines are just naval infantry
ACEGaming and another thing it looks runs as hell
ACEGaming I'll do it for college money but I'm too much of a pussy and my left ear is damaged.
I have so much respect for these young men. Thanks for your service!
I went to Parris Island for Marine bootcamp in 1988....BEST experience in my life! Would gladly go back and do it again! Semper Fi!!! Unit, core, God, country!! Helmet 🪖
Every time i hear i jet fly overhead, I flash back to being a recruit at MCRD San Diego.

This was the greatest time of my life. The Marine Corp will always be my family.
You are correct. I am 74, I joint in 1971 in Maine Corp. The corp made a man out of me. I will die , but the Corp won’t die. I fought the Vietnam War. I survive from the war, and when I die, my grave stone will mark me U S Marine corporal.
15:21 guy made sure to sing on camera to secure that sick album deal lmao XD
R3Dtxt the black drill instructors usually had the best cadences. But my knowledge hat Drill Instructor Sgt Bonekamp had theeee best cadence I have ever heard.
His cadence was good
In another life this man probably was a lead singer
@@japdcp9619 that's racist.
I was a DI and it has been the hardest job but the most rewarding. Nothing compares to that experience.
I'd do terrible at this, not cuz of the physical stuff, but because I can't understand 80% of what they're saying.
in my country its the same shit. you aint understand half of what they are saying, its part of the process. follow the herd dont ask why lol
woswas den
woswas denni I wouldn't be asking why, I'd be asking what. "Sir, I'll do what you say sir, but I don't have a clue what you're asking, sir! I can't understand you!"
Believe me u can't hear well in the video but once they are screaming next your ear, u will

Early on, "Your knees are slightly bent." Good advice. I was at a change of command ceremony where a couple of Marines passed out. Never lock out your knees!
P.S. Never let the incoming general talk too long.
I am soooo glad I joined the Army LOL!!! Mad respect to the Marines, they don't cut corners for ANYONE!
Ah, the memories. To be a graduate of MCRD San Diego means everything in the world.
Just graduated July 31 India Company 3209 3rd battalion ooorraahhh! What a fucking roller coaster bootcam is!
Woohoo alexx!!
+Alex Morales looking back on it, it was one of the funniest experinces of my life and congrats marine
I just graduated October 9th. fox company. I remember hearing you guys every morning "we are india!" freakin loud and motivating. fox company after yall graduated then became the loudest due to us looking up to India so early on.
Hahha the This, is, India!!! Bro my friend just graduated from

Must join. What else do I have to lose. Going to work hard to earn that title. Everytime I see something like this I feel the chills down my spine. I must serve America. 🎖
KeemsLife getting pumped off a UA-cam video doesn't mean you your marine ready . Think about it lol
Did you
I'm hoping it's A LOT easier to hear them in person.

After the 1st day, when you are in your actual platoon during black friday, the Drill Instructors lose their voices, so much screaming is done that day 😂
its not
Marines we never compromise we never surrender we never quit..
I met with my recruiter today. I am currently signing up to become a marine. I am nervous and anxious but also looking forward to this new opportunity and transformation.
I ship out to San Diego this Monday, never been so excited and nervous for anything like this
When do you graduate?
OMG that drill instructions have beatiful voice
I have no idea how.... after all those years of screaming his head off
Yessss
Who Cares? Like oh my goddess.

Imagine if you went through all that training lol.
Definitely a life experience, but this is just the beginning. Keep moving forward in something, don't turn back for nobody.
This video really helps me know what to expect when I get there. I am a poolee and I am shipping off this summer. Semper Fi
How was it?

I signed this year, this video motivates me more to achieve my dream!
I'll be doing this 2 days after my highschool graduation, I'm pumped!
Leaving for recruit training in 3 weeks and this gives me goosebumps but can't wait to become a marine!

I went to marine boot camp in 1995 still the hardest thing I've ever had to do but it's made me push myself beyond what most people think they can do when my car broke down I jumped on my bicycle and rode 34 miles round trip at 48 I have a different mind set from boot camp alone would do it again
Thank God for the united States Marines
!!
That scared guy at 7:45..... "What the fuck did I just sign up for???"
Lol Ikr 😂
rofl I had the same feeling yearsss ago on the yellow footprints
My thoughts in my first few days, "I'm not supposed to be here..." and, "What the **** am I doing here..."
+Linus Herr I know that MJROTC has training beforehand for the marching drills but how would I be if I'd never done it in my life? might be joining after high school.
Should have a good reason to go. Usually have a 4-5 year contract, depending on your MOS and such. If you have friends or family that know or have been in the Marine Corps, they can give you more information and such.
If you think this is hell, grow a pair, I’m going to boot camp in 3 months and I cannot wait, it’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do with your life, achieve and overcome a damn challenge in your life, let’s get it

Very proud of these fine young men. It is these brave boys that keep America and world to be free.
James P mmmmmm what ?
You mean bringing chaos to every country you invade and afterwards pissing off? Good job...
Believe me that training has gotten me through a lot of tough spots in life. 1974 platoon 1074 Camp Pendleton.
been watching a ton of marine videos lately.
Run and work outside
It's almost tragic that human existence is just not possibly as elegant as Marine Corps recruit training. It's hard to express the longing I feel for those days.
Awesome Teachers. They make this country strong

+Foxtrot Alpha I'm curious why do they have the new guys cross their arms over their chest in the beginning of the video?
+Kitten Soft i believe it is because the guys crossing their arms are holding their stuff (extra clothes, personal information, books, etc.) if you look you can see that there is something in their arms.
Oh that makes sense!
+Foxtrot Alpha Do you always tell or is it a perpetual remnant of your intellect to use anger over reason.
We are dumb compared to Singapore........
Jesse E. Andrew ok
I have always wanted to join the marine corps badly ever since I was little but after seeing this I feel like i'd be that one recruit that gets smoked constantly for f**king up lol
Daniel Sanchez it's alright that's all of them Man
Daniel Sanchez don't let that scare you from joining. Everyone gets yelled at just part of the training
It's a challenge, but you can minimize issues. Do what you're told, do your best, and don't f*** up, and you'll have a good chance to be off the Senior Drill Instructor's radar.
From now on your gomer pyle

some of them look so young they remind me of my little brother. he wants to join in 4 yrs when he's out of school. he's only been talking about it since he was 5. ...I'm going to fall apart if I lose my best friend :(
he'll be fine. don't worry.
:/ now I'm hearing about ISIS attacks all the time. To think he could be face to face with those soulless monsters scares the hell out of me. But, that's what he wants. To be apart of stopping them.
+Jordan Meyer being a marine is a way of life. it takes a different breed to be a marine, an even more hard core breed to be infantry and special forces. yes, sometimes Marines die.. but that's war. it's sad, but they did not die and will not die in vein. if I die for my country, I will take as many of them to go meet their virgins with me.
+Jordan Meyer your brother will be fine.
+Anthony Ortega I agree with you. My brother is in the Marines and he's lucky that's he's alive and his friends are as well
Boot camp is about getting rid of your bad habits and get you mentally ready on what's to come for you.But the Marine Corps is not for everybody, thats why we only have about 200,000 men and women that are in the Marine Corps in the US.
10:07 that was the best delivery of "Hit Em" i've ever heard

with aircraft flying over constantly it’s pretty good training for picking out who’s saying what in tense situations
Despite me being a AFJROTC cadet, I really want to join the marines. The Airforce seems more academic then hands on.. To me at least, this seems more physical and that's my goal.
You would be correct on both accounts
There is very good reasons why one is called the Chair Force and one is called the War Corps
Damn this is what im gonna have to endure.. Atleast i know.. Itll pay off
+Gerardo Pulido Joining USMC?
+RonniePoleCasper no he's joining the Taliban you idiot
One Great Bill lol taliban training is different then this lol

I just watched the entire video.... i feel proud... am i a marine now?
I wanted to do this so bad. They wouldn't take me tho being I have epilepsy. Tried my hardest but they just wouldn't let it happen :( Hats off to you guys tho!
Damn another awesome video. Long ass one too. Thanks
Am i the only one that thinks this looks like fun?
No one Here no
I’m planning on enlisting after high school in 2020 I’m starting to work out now anyone young really dedicated should start working out and running now best of luck to anyone enlisting soon 💪
Really weighing whether or not I am going to join the marines after getting my bachelor's... it terrifys me thinking I'd be apart of this, but also weirdly excites me. Thankfully I still have time before I graduate and decide.
If you are getting your bachelors first then you might as well just become an officer bro
R Nordy Yeah I've been thinking I'm going to go that route.
Wouldn't be a bad option, Officers don't have to deal with a lot of the bs that new enlisted members do so your quality of life after boot camp would be significantly better than if you went enlisted. Plus you would get paid more. But hey nothing wrong with just going enlisted either! Semper Fi! -Former USMC Sgt

I used to think the marine corps was stupid, i always thought "do they have to scream at them like that", and if i were ever to join the military i would join the army, but now i'm 16 and i'm enlisting when i turn 17, i'm joining the marine corps! Semper Fi to all veterans.
