Toughest training cycle. October-January. I witnessed the recruits away from home for the first time, during the holidays, in the winter. It really tested them physically and mentally. Bootcamp is tough year round but the winter cycle is different.
Lol, I will be leaving to boot camp next month for the winter cycle. But, I already am 1,000 miles away from home since August. So, I am kind of fine with being away from home much longer. Let's say college didn't work for me, and I don't have anything left to do, I got nothing back home, nothing here, and I just want to find my purpose, or at least find where I stand in life.

I remember the D. I. Yelling so close to me that his spittle went in my ear and I caught whatever he had. Memories.🙂
Shindrithar Griethrat I also thought that my receiving D. I. was just my D. I., so I was confused by being turned over to them. But honestly, the receiving D.I. was crazier than they were, so the shock wasn’t that great.
I was watching the Black Friday bit when I realized that my Black Friday was exactly 11 years ago today. I don't remember a lot of the details but I remember not having fun.

When I was in the MARINES. I started thinking like a MARINE from beginning to the end.
I’m trying to think like one before I even turn 18 lmao
How Marine's think: Food, Pussy, Colored Crayons, Blind indoctrination, roid rage (without the roids), how many kids they can have with their baby momma before deployment.
For the Marines out their don't get butt hurt, you know it's true.

What dose a marine think like. I'm two years in my contract and I have no clue what he is saying.
Thank you to each and everyone of you...I lost a great friend over in afganistan...4 years ago....he was a marine....thank for your service...
Ex Vietnam Navy vet who became Exec Chef at the Bay View Restaurant at MCRD. Fed thousands of Marines weekly and their families during my 18 years on the base. Most touching thing in my career was to go to Pendleton and witness Marines completing the Crucible.
43 years younger. Empathy rules the days. It's astonishing even uncanny that we lived that lifestyle. It was a privilege indelibly. Goodluck recruits. I'm very proud of you. Thank you. 1997-2006 Marine Sgt. infantryman 100P.T. disabled.......lol. Semper Fi......edited....A Drill instructors life is more intense then a recruits training. I became a S.O.I. instructor.
I did it - 1986 - Parris Island - 3rd Batallion - Platoon 3062. I probably weighed 140 lbs. soaking wet back then so you don't have to be some kind of super athlete to go. You just have to have a good mindset and take it day by day and be motivated to get through and you will make it. The guys that quit along the way - I feel sorry for them because I bet they never live that down. There was no way in hell I was not making it. Then you get to the Fleet (03 MOS here) and you realize Boot Camp was a cake walk. Then the real works starts. Changed my life for the better and once you are in, you are in for life and no one can take that title away from you. Not a lot of people can claim the title so go for it! Semper Fi - Do or Die!

Man this brings me memories of the hardest and greatest times in bootcamp. And now I’m getting out of the USMC in a year. Don’t be afraid ! Always strive for the best !
That soundtrack when arriving the yellow footprints is tough
Toughest training cycle. October-January. I witnessed the recruits away from home for the first time, during the holidays, in the winter. It really tested them physically and mentally. Bootcamp is tough year round but the winter cycle is different.
I’m generally used to the freezing cold but it would be hell to have boot camp in the hot sun
@@Jay_Pell04i went through the winter cycle back in 2018-2019. It wasn’t too bad but it did rain a lot and actually snowed a couple times. Missing Christmas- new years and even valentines did suck but while your in there you have bigger things to worry about so it’s not to bad. Have fun and keep your head up. It’s honestly a great time and you will enjoy it if you have a good attitude about it. Remember nothing is personal from the Drill Instructors it’s all to get you into the shape and mental form you need to be to sucede in your career!
@@Lou_sassel315 I know, and I am actually pretty excited! I can't wait to get to boot camp, and earn the title of Marine and get my EGA. Which MCRD did you go to?
@@Jay_Pell04 i went to San Diego. It’s beautiful both there and in Camp Pendleton but the hills do suck when hiking. Nothing compared to actual infantry training but it was definitely a shock to me when I first started. I do highly recommend you begin hiking with weight and speed as well as hills.
I signed up for Walmart. I start next week.
I'm nervous.
What should I expect?
@John Doe expect the worst of the worst. Every man and woman for themselves. Dumb ass questions left and right. Shitty management. Listen to the elders tho. They know how to skate and give some good pointers on surviving... I was actually there for the last 2 months before shipping to boot camp lol

They forgot the part after MEPS where you wanna blast your head off which ends when your contract ends.
the first 5 minutes scared the life out me. finally started feeling relaxed when they had their first hike
Im a very proud Marine mom!! Love you son. Thanks to all who serve, served and payed the ultimate price for our freedom.
Shit I slept like a baby at receiving week, we had Ssgt Micheal B. Jordan (Ssgt Smiley) as our receiving drill instructor. Still miss him to this day.
I had at absolute flippin TYRANT during receiving week...I couldn’t WAIT to get picked up and get the hell outta there. Our days in receiving were about 0400 to 2200- horrible. I got more sleep after I left receiving. I fully admit that we had it easier than other platoons in Alpha Company Follow Series; we were the last platoon for our SDI before he went to Warrant Officer School....he went light on us as long as we didn’t mess up. He would send his green belts away on fridays and stay with us all weekend, it was incredibly nice....you just get through the week so you get senior on the weekends. He didn’t show up one friday because we messed up all goddamn week- we acted right from then on.
The toughest thing I have ever done is go through Marine Corps Bootcamp. But it is also the best thing I have ever done.
what part of marine bootcamp do you say was the hardest
@@Doc_of_derp the first week. Processing. What a f'ing nightmare. Total shock to the system.

It sucked, but if I made it, anyone reading this can make it. Push through the bullshit; make yourself into a US Marine. It'll be for the better.
The confidence course reminded me of Full Metal Jacket
Remember when after the crucilbe you were still a recruit for another month?
We didn’t really get yelled at too much after the crucible because we had earned the title, I only remember being on the island about 2 more weeks after we got our EGA....I think so, but it’s been awhile. I do remember that 3rd phase was cake, and it definitely got easier after rifle range weeks at weapons training battalion. A-line and BWT wasn’t that bad either. The barracks sucked out at the rifle range though, we were glad to be back home.
I regret telling my di who handed my ega that the hardest part of bootcamp was receiving week... I felt like what told him was that he didn't do his job correctly when he was my knowledge hat who taught us about about everything we needed to know.

I’m so nervous, I always wanted to join the Marines since I was little, I have to get a lil older more than I can go for basic training
What is the distance for the run?
And what is the time length to get the 100 crunches and 21 pull-ups?
3 miles and 2 min for crunches and for pull ups it is till you drop (if you max crunches and pull ups you can take it easy on the run) you can also search up the scores for the pft. You also have to do the cft which is a 880 run, ammo can lifts, and you have to do another run with other implements.
I am planning to join Marines right after high school.
