Apparently he wrote this for a family member who was suffering with depression. He is an amazing singer and an absolutly nice guy too.
He sounds even better live. Check out his battle scars live performance for the ANZACS and he also has a live performance for this song that he performed on the voice last year. Also performed one of his newer songs on the voice this year called ‘believer’ and it is a 10/10.

It’s crazy that other country’s don’t really know him. It’s like Scar by Missy Higgins. There’s barely any Aussies that can’t sing at least the chorus, but no-one outside of the country knows her! Love our boy Guy! I love pretty much all of his songs.

"Battle Scars" is Guys song, he did a collaboration with Lupe Fiasco, released a few years ago, and sang it in his home studio. In fact has been on quite a few American shows with Battle Scars, check it out.

The song deals with depression and the difficulty heartache when one you love has depression and you can’t fix it for them you can only be there for them.

I've heard other Amaricans say people sing with Amarican accents but I think its just English for the most part and the style of music.
Just been getting back into Guy Sebastian, he is an awesome song writer and this one definitely gets ya in the feels!!! Check out him and johnny Manuel duet on the voice, amazing two power houses!!!!

I’m Australian and I can tell you now you probably don’t want us to sing with our accents, some people do and it can sound good but most of the time especially with pop songs it can sound a bit silly, also it’s way easier to sing with an American accent because of the way the Australian accent can affect the vowel sounds.
"Before I Go" by Guy Sebastian is a great song that you should react to.

He was singing in an Australian accent, but I know what you mean. For instance when they end up in Hollywood they tend to take up a few vowels that are American in their singing like Olivia Newton John. Good example is the word 'can't' which is pronounced as 'cant' in America and 'cahnt' in Australia. They drop the 'ah' and make it a straight 'ay' sound.
