    2. September 23, 1982. Magazine show on HBO.
    3. December 30, 1982.
    4. June 28 1983. Museum of Weapons cameo.
    5. September 1, 1983. Book: _Eye on Cavett_.
    6. December 4, 1984.
    7. July 30, 1985. Bumped but comes out at end. With Julia Nickson.
    8. August 28, 1985. With Eddie Murphy. Talk show on USA Network.
    9. April 1, 1986.

Glad I watched all the way to the end: that jazzy 1960s theme with Terry Gilliam-esque animation, what a hoot!

Almost makes you cry to see two pros like Cavett and Dave kibitz compared to the lightweights ruling late night these days.

I'm having such a great time watching these, thanks so much! IIRC the phone bit Dick was referring to when he was bumped was hilarious.

Cavett is so good at teasing and doing dry, calm, complete BS on the spot that you never know when he’s kidding. So good. Him and Eddie Murphy hanging around just shooting the breeze would be a great 400-episode series.

That's about what he looked like when I briefly met him..I really didn't know what to say to him but he was extremely polite and very handsome. I said something silly like "what a great looking jawline you have!"...instantly thinking what an odd thing to say..but I'm odd anyway. I really don't remember his retort because I was so embarrassed by my own bizarre remark.

But I'd bet he remembered the unusual remark you made, and thus, you. Great anecdote

Don this is great. Thanks so much for this. I hope you can do a Colbert one someday, but it is a lot of appearances.

I saw the name Michael Stanislavsky during the end of What's In. He later went on to be a driving force as not just one of the heads of Gracie Films, but a production manager in his own right, but not in NYC, but in LA instead.

I wholeheartedly DO NOT agree with any of the sentiments you have communicated in your: last, put-down, insultory, remark, Ms. Winters;... so, therefore, you've forced us into: a, locked-in position; of: the obligatory >requirement, that: we >must agree to disagree!!.

I can only speculate about why Dick Cavett never made any more appearances... but there's not much to speculate on? Any reason why Cavett didnt appear after this, or on the late show?

26:22, surprised him not making some remark about him feeling at least a little queasy at this point here, telling this story to another talk show host (kinda putting himself on the spot).

Maybe you can shed some light on this.. But why on earth did they end some guests segments, like Cavett's at 46:00 at the beginning or the middle of the segment? It's very awkward.

THANK YOU!!!!!! For all these. I remember many of the Cavett shows, and had the biggest crush on him.

From what I've read, the footage never aired, and supposedly Dick holds the only copy of the footage.
