    Brilliant. Replaced our 9-10 year old adus ac68u with a ax4200. It's another world with a 1gbps line. Not only is everything more snappy, we get full speed compared to about 600 Mbps with old one. I didn't know routers could get too old and I really don't know why that is. The new router keeps the super menu system, clearly the best in the market.

  • @kreaweb-be
    @kreaweb-be 2 роки тому +2

    Just leave the Enable Smart Connect setting to enabled. This way the router and client can negotiate the fastest way to communicate and the router can automatically avoid the WiFi channels your neighbours routers are occupying. There's no reason to force this excellent router to use fixed 2.4 and 5 GHz channels, except if you use IoT devices that only work on a separated 2.4 GHz band. I get transfer speeds between 95 and 105 MB/s on Auto. Also use Authentification Method WPA3 if all clients support it, if not then use WPA3/WPA2. Also disable the old 11b protocol.

    • @stanleybujak5260
      @stanleybujak5260 Рік тому

      That is correct until you encounter a stubborn device that will not connect to 2.4 GHz unless it is separated on the router first. I have two one is a camera system and another is a security alarm. It simply refuses to see 2.4 GHz, but once the setup is completed I can turn the "Smart Connect" back on and they stay connected.

    • @CheeseOnEverything
      @CheeseOnEverything  Рік тому

      Yes this is why I'm telling people to separate it, cuz the router has problems switching back and forth between the two. It's been more than a year now so I don't know if updates have fixed it, but I'm still using the 2.4ghz cuz the 5ghz only works for close proximities.

    In the U.S., you shouldn't use an overlapping 2.4GHz channel like Channel 2 as you are causing interference. Stick with Channels 1, 6, and 11 for 2.4GHz.

    Hey man thanks! I just bought this router. I hope mine works and fix the issue I'm having with my rented router. I was told I cannot disable the smart connect. That sucks because when you're playing a game on your phone and your router change signal for example from 5ghz to 2.4, you get disconnect. It happened multiple times already and it pisses me of. And no matter what device I'm using I'm getting disconnected.

    People add or change routers all the time. An "unused" channel today may be busy tomorrow. Unless you plan on watching over this like a Mother Hen, I think "auto" is more likely to give the best results long-term.

      That is true if u live in a condo where there are hundreds of connections around but in my case, my router is in the basement and there are only a couple of signals around. With recent updates tho, they shoulda fixed the problem by now so auto should work again.

    Nice video. Can I ask you to do some test with multiple devices?
    I currently have an ASUS AC86U and while I can get 200Mbps from a
    single device (my internet speed) if I run speed tests from two WiFi
    devices that bandwidth gets split between the two. This would be
    running my phone, or laptop from my desk. If I just run a speed test
    from either one, I get 200-220Mbps, if I run both I still get 200-220
    but this is combined. Usually the first device to start gets around
    160Mbps, while the other only gets 40Mbps. I am hoping these new WF6
    routers improve upon this. Thx

    Great review...my question is the current ISP plan that I have is only 150 Mbps. I'm using an AC router ( wifi 5 ) which gives me about 140 Mbps down. So even if I do change and upgrade to a wifi 6 router it won't really benefit me in terms of speed since my ISP is capped at 150 Mbps right? So apart from the transfer speed improvements nothing much really unless I upgrade my plan to say a 1 Gbps one right?
