God cyclocross is so hard! Love the race videos Giorgio, I'm more excited when your race vids come out than when GCN posts a new video. Keep racing hard!
😂 not sure if it’s going to work when we start doing bike changes 😬 but it was good to get a full race with power just to see how hard I’m actually going 😂
"bloody steam train" 😁 ayy I'll take that. Good race tho and a well flowing course. Were you on the limus tyres? I hope not because they're slow af in these conditions. I was on small birds (epic tyre) and ngl they helped so much with the speed, esp in the tacky mud wood in the first lap. Dugast do clincher versions of them now too. It's easy to overthink tactics in CX but what I've been realising recently and trying to do better in the UCI races is not to overcomplicate things: - position is EVERYTHING - always make a pass if you can and don't give up a position easily - fight for it into important sections - momentum is second everything - if you're coming up on a rider with speed (as you do a couple times here) hit them hard straight away, make them chase. You've earned all the speed you get through a cross race by spending your own energy - don't waste any. - race for time as well as position - keeping the race hard and consistent is more likely to tire others out and force mistakes which can give you the gap (and you seem to make fewer mistakes than the other two). This also good practice for UCI races where racing for time makes getting 80%d less likely. And those moves at the end were totally legit. If you want the position you've got to take it - nobody is going to give it to you. Esp. in the corners you've got to get your bars infront of theirs, that gives you the control. In neither of the corners did you get your bars in front, so you hadn't made a pass. You've got to commit to making the pass before the corner or back out. The finish line for this race was really the right hander at the bottom of the final descent, there just wasn't room to realistically make a pass between then and the finish :P
Running limus all year round I don’t have the budget to have multiple sets and also don’t have the time to be changing tyres over 👌 Bars were definitely equal or you would be able to see the bike on the wide angle lens but if it’s good to just deviate off your line… everyone needs to watch out from now on because I’m coming for everyone 😂
Watched both videos, this was exciting! Next race, you be the chopper (within reason), not the choppee? Awesome racing, I'm taking inspiration and tips from this video for my race this weekend!
I had a chat with Oscar Hoult, apparently he had to borrow someone else's front wheel right before the start and it was pumped to 35+psi, so he was skating around on those corners. He also said he didn't know you were coming on the right on that last bend - scout's honour ;)
Ahh I did wonder why he kept shouting to the people in the pits and haha yeah he said that to me after the race and to be honest I did come around with a fair bit of speed so it all happened very quickly but let him know I’m out for revenge at Newbury 😜😂
Next race, elbows out…. Honestly, get a full downhill mtb kit and put a deer rack on the helmet and go to WAR GC!…. Kidding.. 18 year olds can hit the deck hard and race again a few hours later…. A little harder for us Masters racers…
😂 American football helmet on the start line 😂 Ain’t that the truth, it’s not as easy to bounce back from a crash and I need to be in work the next day 😂
Really enjoyed your commentary! How on earth do you remember how each lap went down? 😮 Well done on the result. Should have been third place but the young choppers took it from you. 🫢😂
The pain is etched in my brain so I remember every second 😂 the youngsters don’t have bills to pay and work on Monday morning so it’s always going to happen 😂
Great stuff George. Love seeing these UK races and enjoy your commentary. Very motivating for my next race.
Thanks Steve! Hope you are enjoying your season… looks like you have been going well 💪

It certainly is and it never gets any easier, you just go faster and still have to embrace the pain 😂 haha thanks appreciate that!
great race video and commentary as always G - nice drift! All''s fair with those moves mate, it's racing :) nice power overlay -you did give it some!
Thanks mate 🫡
Great footage. Power overlay is what was missing. Love it.
And yes, those were dirty moves. Full elbows next time. 💪🏻
It great having the overlay and also to look back and see how hard I’m going 😬😂
Pure Tokyo Drift! Loving the power overlays. Mans gone full Norcal 🤣Utter filth from Oscar... Payback in Newbury 😎

Them young bucks really know how to chop. You’ll get them next round mate!
😂 bloody hooligans 😜😂
Nice videos! May I ask, which software you use to overlay telemetry data like power, heart rate, and so on?
Thanks and I use garmin virb software 👌
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling Thx, I will try it :-) Ride on
