- This is is a quick walk through for converting your Roland song data to .WAV files to be edited or mixed in a DAW. This works the same way for an internal HDD or a CF or SD card reader. You need card reader on your pc or if you want to read the hard drive you need a 44pin USB adapter.
Works with:
VSR-880
VS-880
VS-890
VS-1680
VS-1880
VS WAVE Export

Oh wow!! Just stumbled across this! Can't wait to try it out!! Was into the VS world in the 90's and have a few projects that I would like to revisit! This will be so great if it works! The Roland 1680's for their time sounded great! Thank you so much for posting!!
How did it work out for you?
Did it work out for you?

Demane, Could I get a clean copy of VS WAV Exporter software from you? I can't find it anywhere that doesn't trigger anti virus warnings. Thanks in Advance! David
Any luck I'm looking for way to convert tiles from hard drive to pc
@@crooklyneny I have not found any info on getting the data directly off of the VS hard drives. I have several drives that I would like to see what is on them.
I'm sure there is a way I hope you can find
What version of Windows are you using?
hello this is an excellent help my congratulations, do you have this program for MAC osx CATALINA?
I have this setup in a virtual environment for OS X. Im going to do a video on it soon.
@@JackboyRadio I will be anxious to see, would it be possible for you to send the software for mac, or does it have a cost? my email for agent chat ryldodisouza@hotmail.com
Thanks, please let us know when your video for Mac is available!
@@JackboyRadio as soon as you can send it we are looking forward to it, thank you
Thank you for the dropbox link. The goodlibrary file is coming up as "containing a virus" according to Google Chrome "protection"....I have a vs880 that I'm waiting for a CF card to IDE converter so getting my head around the process and everything I'll be needing. The process you describe is what I expected, but nice to see you walk us through it...thanks again.
same, when I tried to download the file my computer blocked it as a 'virus and dangerous page' how do you get around that? is the page and file safe?
@@siad1286It supposedly is a false detection by a lot of antivirus programs.
Does this work with songs backed up to DVD? I can't seem to get my computer to recognize the files on the backups
It worked for me for backups on CD. Ripped them to my PC, then also converted them to WAV.
no 2480?
hi i want to ask. i have data from roland vs stored on cd. i open it on pc i can't. according to info should be opened on roland vs machine. but now no one is using it. do you have any suggestions? Thank you
There is another file that is included you can run to access cd data. I’ll have to check the name but it’s included with the VS wav export software.
Same issue, can you elaborate on the file?
I successfully used this to recover my backup CDs from more than 20 years ago. Very good. My only gripe is it outputs wave files, but not the song structure (I have to figure out where in the recording the WAV go)
Hi thanks for the video. On own a VS-840 since 1998 and I already put .VR8 files on my computer. Do we know the best way to convert .VR8 files? Any other software available? Thanks!
hey bro, how can I download this without the virus warning, seems pretty scary to download files with massive warnings like that?
How can I take my old vs-2480 data discs and convert them to wave format for use in newer DAWS🙏🏿
A few ways to do this, but the easiest is probably to remove the drive and connect it to a pc via an USB adapter. Another way would be to get an external card reader, copy projects to the SD card and transfer from the card.
@@JackboyRadio same question, but I no longer have my vs 2480, just kept my backup cds? how can I transfer them back into my computer to use them in my DAW
Will this work for a Mac?
no
AY BRO..
I have an VS2400 with a failed disc drive, so sticking the hard drive in to my pc seems pretty comfortable. Would that work as well? I fear, that somehow all my data will be erased..
Yes that works. I use a usb to ide converter and the software see’s the HDD’s fine.
@@JackboyRadio Thank you for your answer! That really gives me hope. Could you tell me, which converter you use?
@@BluesGitarrero Any one of them should work that supports a 2.5 drive, but the one i use is the SinLoon USB to SATA IDE Converter Cable Adapter USB 2.0 to 2.5/3.5/5.25in IDE and SATA Adapter Cable
Do you know if this works with MAc OS? Thanks
Yes if you run it in an emulator. I created one in DosBox that runs well with Windows 10. I’m working creating a system that is much smaller in size.
ermagerd been trying to work out how to do this since y2k haha. thank you
Can I transfer files from Zip disk created on 840 to Mac. I don’t have the 840 anymore just the Zip disk.
AS long as you have the disk they should be able to be converted. You will need a USB zip drive as well.
Awesomeness ✌️
I got a Roland VS840 with sd card. How can i do that?
It works the same way for SD cards as it does for CF cards.
I would like to transfer over files from my Roland VS-2480 to my Mac computer to listen to. How can I achieve this?
I retrieved all data files from my Roland VS-2480 and had them professionally uploaded to a flash drive because the unit no longer works. So that's my starting point for this transfer process.
Please help 🙏
I’ll see if I can put a video together on how to set this up for a Mac. Basically you have to run a Virtual Machine with the Windows OS. I set one up a few years ago. I’ll see if I can locate it and share it.
@@JackboyRadio Thank you 🙏
Just an FYI on the program you recommended. When I tried to upload it my security software informed me that it was a virus attached to it. Any other suggestions?
@@jackfrost9151 I've been using this program for years now and its never been flagged for a virus nor have I ever had any issues with it.
Thanks! Pls share it as per your earliest convenience. Virus alert is when downloading from internet gooddr site
Hi There, do you know if I can export files from my VS-2000 to be mixed and or mastered at a recording or mastering studio? I've minimal engineering experience so I've always recorded, mixed and mastered on the VS. I need my mix and/or master professionally done for a acapella song I've recorded, but I'm not sure about the files I export. Can they be read on "modern" equipment? Will the WAV files work on non-Roland equipment? any advice or assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, you should be able to export the files with VS WAVE Export. Then you can take the wav files and use in any DAW you choose.
@@JackboyRadio … I don’t know why I’m just seeing your reply, but thank you so much.🙏🏾
