4mm String (Colour: Natural)
Hey guys! I have an advanced pattern for you today! This pattern is created by tying a number of double half hitch knots (DHHKs) to create interwoven diamonds. To create these diamonds we are required to tie the knots in a certain way which is why you’ll see me moving from one diamond to another and back again.
This pattern is intended for those who have some experience with macrame and are very comfortable with the DHHK. As I move through the tutorial I will point out various sections that will be helpful for you but for the most part since it is an advanced pattern I will be giving less instruction than I do with some of my other beginner tutorials. Let’s get started!
Set-up - Cut 14 pieces of 4mm string, each piece is 8 ft long. Attach to your dowel using Lark’s Head knots.
Using the 12 strands in the middle of your work we will create our first diamond which will have two layers. Follow along as I tie the top half of the diamond first.
Using the two middle strands start to create another diamond in the middle of the first diamond (this diamond will only have one layer). See photo on the right for reference to the finished piece.
Using the 12 strands on the right side of your work we will create another diamond with two layers. The top of the diamond should sit slightly lower than the inner diamond.
Note that this side is different from the right side of your work - the inner diamond will be hidden underneath the top diamond.
Using the 12 strands on the left side of your work create another diamond with two layers.
You might have to push the knots up your filler cord a bit before tying the next knot.
If you are wanting to make your work symmetrical there is are two slight changes you will need to make to this pattern. The first should be the positions of the diamond on the right and the inner diamond. The crossover at the bottom left side of the right diamond should be so that the inner diamond is on top, not hidden under the right diamond.
I’ll mention the second change as we move through the bottom of this pattern.
The second change you are going to want to make is right here - you will want the inner diamond to go on top of the bottom diamond.
Thanks so much for watching!

Hello! I'm really glad I found your channel. Your tutorials are the best!!!
I wanted a little help, how can I add chords in this pattern?
I want to create this pattern on 50 chords in a set of two.
Are you strands of rope 8' after you put them on the dowel or before?
Very nice!
I started with the basic, i.e : Lars-Knot and square not, as with my channel. Any idea or advice what to do next?
Bellísimo! I like!!! 🌹✨✨✨🌴
Qué clase de cordón está utilizando para esa labor? Gracias!
