Nice lot of cells there my friend

I just built 2 17 cell batteries and skipped this top balance process completely.. My BMS has 2 amp balancing built in and they did a great job keeping the cells balanced as the packs were taken to 59.8vdc for the first couple charges.. I also used mild compression to help the cells prevent bulging but plan to remove this once they are seasoned with at least 10 cycles from top charge to bottom charge as I never plan to push them harder than .3c.. This saved me weeks of messing around and I have a .003v variance cell to cell in the packs..

that sounds great. is this mobile application?

@@bryansbusadventure4783 900 pounds of batteries so no.. Stepping up from L-16 lead cells was a wow moment in the total storage and the speed at which I could charge them has really optimized the solar array.. I hope your install goes well as I watched a couple videos of some that went well and others that did not..

To everyone watching this: never use 3.65 V directly on such large 280/304 Ah cells with your puny DC power supply while top balancing.
That 3.65V is supposed to be at 0.05 C rate according to most cell manufacturer datasheets.
Forget multiple cells in parallel, even for a single 280 or 304 Ah cell, 0.05C is around 14-15 Amps. Now multiply this with the number of cells paralleled will the corresponding cutoff charge rate @ 3.65 V.
People should just use something around 3.38 or 3.39V for top balancing.

Yeah those wires across the cells are also wayy too thin.

You are correct, it is way slower this way but it will be there, thanks for the input again thanks for the reply. I will check that immediately

@@zaprodk I think you are referring to balancing from a BMS. I have research this and I am doing it correctly. thank you for the concern

I did this with my bus except I used 32 100ah cells....and watching your videos are scaring the hell out of me.
    1) take 4 or eight in parallel at a time not 32
    2) both your charging leads should not be on the same end of your run
3)3.55 volts should be your goal for top balance not 3.65 and 3.45 would be better
    4) the cells will likely swell with charging and should be slightly compressed.

please explain to me why the leads need to be at opposite ends. I have checked with several (experts) on line and none of them top balance that way.

why does this scare you , please explain why. with 3.6 volts and 4 amps there is no challenge

I check several Chinese cell companies and Wendy at XiHo Energy Technology co. Ltd is absolutely the best I came across. she helped me thru a couple of challenge that I created. She is the best Tell her I said hello. No they did not sponsor anything
