I totally understand the environment and everything you were feeling, like exactly! I worked at JCP for almost 6 years and went through the same things. Be happy to be free of that toxicity. I ended up just putting in my 2 weeks and leaving because it was such an unhealthy environment. Better things ahead! 💗

I know these people well.
I experienced most of the same during my 14 months there. I applaude you for your public candidness. I can only imagine what was said about me after I was "not up to company standards".
However, I learned SOOO much while working there! I learned exactly what a manager should not be. I learned that internal cliques, when allowed to happen, are essentially 'poison' for a work environment. Take everything that you experienced, and make it a course in How Not to Run A Store. You are better than they ever thought you were.

Omg I can’t believe you even stayed that long!! After they were rude and said you weren’t going to get paid the same and that you have an attitude I would’ve been like cool see ya!! I never let anybody talk down to me like that I know I’m a good employee and I deserve better. I know it’s easier said than done if you really love your job but I seriously give you props for staying after that! I would’ve been fuming!
That’s such an insane story! It really seems like they were trying to find anything you did wrong to let you go and that’s horrible! So glad you’re out and in a better environment
Sadie!!! I went through the same thing but in banking literally everything was just like you experienced there ...like doing good in sales, the pay, doing your all, then the change! I did the same with demoting myself and then management seemed to act so ugly. The atmosphere had changed tremendously and I knew I had to go!!! But I am now in a better space, different profession and far from sales because they made it so bad for me that I never wanted to do banking anymore. But I am so happy for you and all your accomplishments. Blessings 😍

I can relate because I’ve worked with them like forever and I’m in a freestanding store. The company has changed a lot unfortunately. As you said it perfectly in the beginning.. it’s all about the people you work for. The thing is because of Ulta being our biggest competition they put pressure on managers and this is what you get.
Working in the company has gotten really bad the past couple of years and I’m looking to leave also and I’m not even management but because the story you told about how they promised you a position has been played out in our store so many times before.
The awesome thing about Sephora is that once you’re in and you get to know people and brands it opens doors for you for other opportunities.
I’m glad you were able to move on and be happy. You deserve that.❤️

Omg i worked at a SiJCP too and management treated me the exact same way. They would put me down, call me into the office, and they would make things up about me that weren’t true. One week they wanted to promote me and have me do more, and the next they would talk down on me and tell me they were watching me and that they could replace me in 2 weeks. It was horrible and really brought my self confidence down even though i did nothing wrong but was doing what i loved. I ended up quitting immediately that this became toxic to me.

I thought you brought up a good point - you can believe in the company and support what it stands for but in a toxic environment you won’t be able to thrive. What you’re going through is common in all jobs no matter the profession. Being loyal to a company, you expect to grow with them. I felt like when you were promoted in the holiday months, it was more for you about your achievements and accomplishments at Sephora in the past few years rather than the pay. But I’m glad you left the toxic work place. That’s when you know better things are in store for you. Don’t ever let them make you feel small! Everything happens for a reason

I have been in that position too. Lesson learned is: When you see that the situation is TOXIC -- just get out, don't wait (if you can.) I'm glad you shared your story. Keep talking -- I hope they watch this and hear people like me say "Yet another reason why I won't shop at Sephora." I think you should also run your story by an attorney.

I literally just had a VERY similar thing happen with me at my work. This is absolutely disgusting how these higher ups treat people. Keep your head up girl, we both got better things to come.
You know what I think happened Sadie JEALOUSY! I’m sure you get along with everyone WELL with everyone NATURALLY. You managed to reach your goal or even higher in the four months of being an assistant manager and manager than what the General Manager accomplished. I hate the whole everything happens for a reason statement because it’s not okay to fire someone from their job with out probably causes such as stealing, showing up late, and being disrespectful to co workers/ customer managers and the like. Great for finding another job and I know you’ll be manager I can feel the promotion!

Wow! I'm not surprised. I worked at sephora back in 2010 and 2011 for the holidays. I never trusted the management. I do work at ulta part time and have been with them for almost 5 years. There are lot of negative people there too. I try to let it go if they talk down to me. I've been looking for something else. Praying it happens soon. Wishing u the best of luck girl!! I worked at a Starbucks that was such a hostile work environment, it was unbelievable. I finally quit, & after I left I heard through the grapevine that they were telling people I got fired? & genuinely do not understand these managers & their power trips. I’m glad you got out of there! Life is way too short for that negativity.

I feel you, girl. My last job, my manager was CLEARLY out to get me and made the environment at work a living hell. She was so visibly jealous that I was successful and she was rude to me for no reason at all and would yell at me and talk down to me all the time. I'd "get in trouble" for the most random things, and my coworkers would do the same or "worse" things and nothing would ever happen to them. It was so toxic. I finally had decided to quit and I wrote a letter to the owners and it felt so good to leave from that place. No one deserves to be treated that way especially in a professional work environment! I teared up hearing this, a similar story happend to me. Someone with no experience got a job over me and I was told to train them. Once I said no I got retaliated, so I switched stores because I was living in hell for 5 months. I am happy now. People don't quit jobs they quit management. But also karma eventually will get them. You will go far in life Sadie 😘
I totally agree with you . I use to work for Walgreens beauty department . I was a beauty advisor at the time and the second we got a new assistant manager she just tried EVERYTHING TO GET RID OF ALL THE EMPLOYEES to hire her people . I got another job at sams and just stayed at Walgreens part time working only one day out of the week. I did this for about a year until I eventually found a full time good paying job where I left both sams and Walgreens . What bothers me the most is that they want the good employees out and the people above them see it and don’t care or aren’t even aware of what actually goes on in the stores itself. It’s really sad bcuz they are the ones loosing ; not us . I’m sorry to hear you had to go through that. On another note you don’t have to feel that negativity any longer. Best of luck ! 🥰
Your Sephora is my local Sephora too but I don’t shop there the vibe is stale so I drive the extra 10 min to Ulta..
Girl, I feel you on this. I used to work at a pretty high end salon in LA as an assistant and my boss would talk down to me all the time. Make comments on my weight in front of his clients and embarrass me. Saying things like - " Oh, she's so skinny. She never eats." Yelled at me for not wearing "enough" makeup to work and told me to go put on some more. & The list of insults went on and on. Fast forward months later I broke my elbow and was out of work and he had the audacity to fire me while I was out on disability.

Sadie! I cannot believe that all happened the way it did.. just ridiculous! I see your channel growing so much lately and I think it was meant to be! They’re clearly vindictive as hell. That being said, I work at a freestanding Sephora and while it’s not perfect it is so very different. If you were nearby I’d get you in here part time in a heartbeat and you’d have so much fun! But I think you’re gonna do even bigger and better things with your channel soon! I always really enjoy your videos! 💗

Everything happens for a reason. I thrived in a position before the one I’m in now and wasn’t appreciated at all so i got another job in the same company making 4 times what i was making and fast forward to a boss that appreciates me and my work. I’ve received 18% pay increase in the past 2 years and 10 months 🙌🏽❤️ keep thriving Sadie !!!
I can honestly say I know how you feel went through that at my last went to another job and I am still getting treated like shit it hurts when you don't know what you're doing and/or never doing anything wrong and others are making more money than you it's so sad and heartbreaking
This is almost the same exact reason I left Ulta as a manager. You really hit home when you started talking about getting called into the office for an attitude, and also getting new higher ups that caused a shady environment. She used to make us go into the office and talk about the other employees weaknesses, then she would tell them what was said and made so many people cry. It was very hostile. Like you said, we only have like 2 members of the OG crew left. So sad :(
Eff them Sadie!!!! You did not deserve that at all. Something sorta like that happened to me too. After 9+ years at my job at Delta Air Lines outta nowhere a bunch of people were let go in all departments. Totally blindsided. I am still trying to figure out the real reason but on to bigger and better things. I was devastated. Best job I ever had.
I'm sorry Sadie. Unfortunately what you experienced happens so often in retail management (speaking from 15 years experience) and disgusts me and is a horrible tactic used! (They try and break you down to make you quit so they can get out of paying unemployment, etc) all I can say is what goes around comes around with crooked people in these positions! There's a ton of favoritism, and I guessed it before you even said, that those two were friends..a typical recruitment. "Birds of a feather flock together."
You are a wonderful person, and making this video sheds light to others who think they're being singled out and harassed, when in reality, they're a victim of circumstance. 💙 You have a great attitude, and you will be successful, I BELIEVE THAT! 💯🙌

I understand this cuz the same thing happens at my work with my management .. i honestly dont know how those people weave their way to the top but its extremely sad when theres people working themselves to the bone while others are NOT working and calling out hard workers trying to find ways to get rid of them instead of doing their own jobs. Its sad but its like that everywhere unfortunately. And its hard to figure out what to do about it when everyones the same, just shitty people. So i totally get it
I’m so happy you are out of that situation. I left my SEC position one year ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I was dead-set on working my way up to AEM because I love Sephora as a company and I love their educational focus, but JCPenney is the most delusional company and they are running themselves into the ground. My manager was an unhygienic slob who didn’t know anything about the products or ingredients and would lie to clients about products and about credit applications and she was the reason my entire team and I left. She made clients feel uncomfortable and even made fun of handicapped people and racially profiled any person of color who came in, but upper management defended all of her actions and ignored our warnings and she still works there today. You are so much better off. The discount, gratis, client interactions and co-workers are really hard to say goodbye to but it’s so worth it to get out of that environment. Good riddance! I completely understand where you’re coming from in this situation. I used to work at a Sephora inside of JCP it was definitely a very toxic situation for me after working there for a couple of months. All of the girls I had originally worked with can all agree with me when I say that we felt like we weren’t apart of the JCP team. When we had our morning meetings they didn’t really acknowledge the Sephora team unless we were doing better than the other departments. Or how the store manager decided it was appropriate to throw shade at one of the Sephora girls for not getting a credit card and make jokes about it with the rest of the JCP team... Long story short things took a turn for the worst and all of the girls that I first started working with quit around the same time (including myself). Once I left I felt that same relief and so much stress went away. It saddens me to hear that you were being singled out too but at least you now have a new job and don’t have to stress! Good luck!!

hey Alex!! my best advice would be to create a relationship with your team and try to learn from them, and then try to look up in your spare time different new products that are launching & maybe then you can teach them something. Be open, kind, and build relationships xo

I'm sorry you went through all of that. I understand that you want to move on. I wonder if there is anywhere at a state level where you can file a complaint against the company. The salary change and the immediate firing without a paper trail are highly questionable ethically and maybe even legally.

Been there I got fired once because "I wasn't the right fit" which honestly I totally agree with them because I don't agree with training people to fail (they literally tell you this and don't really help you until you mess up) , super glueing products back together so they can sell them at full price, wanting you to approach customers when they are stealing (while your all alone in the store btw, can I just say how dangerous that is and most of the employees are like 18 yr old tiny girls), etc etc all there stupid ideas and drama... I cried so hard because I was fired but I was so glad to never have to work there again...
