@@hgv1883I think they're using "night vision" thermal cameras during the day. The mines sitting in the sun heat up making them visible. That lets Ukraine find the thinner parts of the fields and clear them.

Thanks for another great report. And thanks for pointing out the difference in long-range targets when Russia strikes, as opposed to now when Ukraine strikes. It is obvious Ukraine is only targeting legitimate military capabilities (legal) while Russia targets military capabilities, but also specifically targets critical civilian infrastructure -- schools, hospitals, electricity/heat/water facilities. Yesterday Artur Rehi covered the differences between breaking off to the East (like they are in the diagram you are showing) vs breaking south. The southern road runs right between some trenches and looked like the kind of road that would be surrounded by mines and would allow Russians to dial in the artillary shots to set points. That's probably why the AFU forces are starting with a sweep to the right. They're going to have to sweep west again to keep a broad, defensible front, but doing it from behind or frrom the side will help them pick off the artillary as they go.

Similarly to the Il-76 engines, lots of Russia and also USSR space stuff was made in Ukraine. NBC said the other day when India landed on the moon, that only the USA, China and Russia had done so. Russia has done no such thing. USSR did, and many of the parts and talent came from elsewhere in the Soviet Union. Anything accomplished by USSR was USSRs doing, not Russia. If Russia has landed craft on the moon, then so has Ukraine, Kazakstan, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, etc.
BUT Russia DID land on the moon....and created the first GARBAGE DUMP there. Hell, it is a wonder they hit the moon for they could have MISSED IT TOO.

The counter attack all of a sudden looks serious. The enemy cant stop Ukraine and are in danger of losing control of their defensive lines
It's just the looks. Ukraine destroys 20-30 Russian howitzers, several electronic warfare equipment (e.g. radar) and 500+ personnel every day for some two months already. Just yesterday 9 tanks, 17 APCs, 26 howitzers and 44(!) trucks.
No way Russia could sustain this for long. Advances seen now were made possible with all these previous efforts.

@@traumflug It's also possible due to all the air strikes against bridges and railroads from Crimea, ambushing supply convoys, having bridgeheads scattered to keep lines thin etc. Everything has a purpose and is helping with the breakthrough, even the troops working away at Bahkmut or guarding Kupyansk right now are helping the southern forces. I am glad that all the prep work does seem to be paying off. Hopefully they can make a lot more progress before Russia has the ability to rethink their strategy.

I believe DPICM (cluster munitions) have really helped to subdue the Russians in recent weeks (both offense and defence). They were a critical addition to Ukraine's toolkit.
No. The supply of cluster munitions has untied the hands of the Russians and now the Ukrainians are suffering crushing losses.
If you look at the height map of Robotino - 4 Ukrainian brigades ended up in a lowland between the heights occupied by the Russians. And they get Soviet cluster munitions on their heads, of which Russia has hundreds of thousands of tons.
And by the way, the talk about the fact that cluster munitions will clear minefields was also a lie. The Ukrainians are still having trouble getting through the minefields, but now they are also hurt by the cluster response from the Russian side.
I cannot wait for them to receive, just in discussions, the cluster ammunition fired from Himars...

Since the rear echelons were weak the most important thing is maintaining momentum.
The gains in the south's are speeding up. The reports about problems with Ukrainian artillery and counter artillery are reported more often. And only a handful of russian troops are shifted from one frontier to another to help, indicating the lack of reserves. That's all good signs for Ukraine. Let's hope the weather plays for Ukraine and they are able to make a breakthrough fast and strong enough before the rain comes.
