Frank Wes in an incredible blues performance that pours down deep soulful blues feeling...these blues just soak you way, way down to your bones so deep you'll never dry them off...
This is what I call "Smooth Jazz": Smooth delivery as collaborative spokesperson who employs Jazz phrasing and expressions as the vehicular conduit of musical virtuosity. Frank Wess strolls quietly along with his cool and relaxing authoritative swing.
Wow, it's taken me a long time to discover Frank Wess. This one track has put him in my pantheon of tenor players along with Prez and Ben Webster. Smooth doesn't even come close!
It never occurred to me until I saw 101 Dalmatians shown on TV this Christmas, just how much of a jazzy/deco/noir feel the whole thing has. It's pretty overt in the art style of the piece, but having only previously seen it when I was a child, I obviously hadn't picked up on it.
Frank Wess was partly responsible for changing my life, about 50 years ago when I was discovering jazz. This upload is a gem
Beautiful song !!! FFrank Wess 100th Jubilee, today !!!
What an adorable image.
Totally agree!
good image but adorable isn't the word
101 dalmatians' scene
☻
@@danniecc The image reminds me of the animated film The Triplets of Belleville.

This song makes a Rainy Afternoon a happy dream
One of the great great, great masters
wow! unique sound on the tenor. And the phrazing is so relaxed.
Este tema me transporta espiritualmente a la regiones mas mas elevadas, tocado por algo de nostalgia y envuelto en un dulce sopor.
This is awesome
This is terrific tenor playing. Great backing trio too.

So mellow, perfect moodsetter.

@MonkeyIslandBlues Really? They are great! I love them!
This explains why FW held
the Johnny. Hodges saxophone. His playing ls like Hodges on a tenor.

de 101 dálmatas :)
I've just heard reports of Mr. Wess' passing...R.I.P.
@pellegittan I feel his flute playing - unfortunately curtailed during his Basie period - phrazing and tone are reflected in his tenor playing
Frank Weiss, F r a n k W e i s s
Beautiful, mellow however, the pic reminds me of 101 Dalmations!
