Thank you for these videos! I actually feel like I understand what perspective is now and also how important it is to think and observe before starting the drawing! It also makes me less scared to just try it and make the scene more dramatic, cause I feel like a lot of the times I hold back and then my work ends up looking flat.

Ok so I totally get what you’re saying and it’s obvious that one is more correct than the other. But is it crazy that I kind of still like the incorrect one as well lol maybe it’s just a testament to your skill that even when you draw incorrectly it comes out looking good!

Hey, I'm having so much fun watching your videos, learning so much from them! But I have a big problem with the proportions, not in the drawing itself but on the paper. I start somewhere and then suddenly my paper ends up being too small and the building doesn't fit on the paper. Do you have any tips on that or maybe a video where you explaining how to fix that?
I have a few videos on keeping proportions when drawing. If you use a photo, try and draw it same size, it’s easier to reference proportions that way. Choose your start point on the paper carefully, and visualise the completed drawing and how large the various parts will need to be. Take extra care with key points which establish the drawing further out from your start point, as opposed to drawing which is more filling in such points. Do you see what I mean?😀
I have a question about the even spacing of the windows and their respective framework and recessing into the building. How do you align the and duplicate the frames of the windows and the recessed parts without making a complete mess of your page with endless amounts of guidelines? Thanks alot on advance, your videos have helped me alot improving my drawings
I have videos on foreshortening that explain the theory behind spacing the windows. In practice, I approximate the spacing using the principle and eyeballing it. Recesses are also freehand. I sometimes use guidelines. In some places they don’t show too much. A guideline can be a series of dots etc, doesn’t have to be a straight solid line. I get a lot of practice with this, which helps. 😀
I got extremely well at digital painting portraits and looking at references to paint the scene. When I wanted to make my own little concept art, everything fell apart. I didn't know why at first. I could paint things from life, I could paint things from references, but when I wanted to make my own scene, it was flat and nonsensical the way things sat in the scene. So I, for some reason remembered making grids way back when. I did so and actually made a pretty decent road with some buildings and cars on it from imagination. The moment I tried a different angle, it was a FLOP! Then I realized while learning art I neglected perspective and composition. Now I am on a video quest to learn this well so I can set up the 3D space in my scenes. So far the learning is coming out good. Portrait painting needs no perspectives. Painting something from life, I can see the perspectives....Creating a concept from imagination with no actual way to conceptualize 3D space without looking at a preset reference....That is what I am trying to fix lol. I want to draw space ship art with aliens...that's pretty hard to make the jump from reference photos of human life. Every artist has something different to say about this...I like this because I can pick and choose what I like and dislike about their perspective...on perspective...

There is a photo reference, and I measure or at least check my angles with my pen. And I’ve had practice.
