- Bluegrass Music: Lou Reid & Carolina with James King sing Long Black Veil live. Lou Reid & Carolina ask James King to sing this song during Lou Reid & Carolina first set at Bean Blossom 2011.
Rural Rhythm salutes the Father of Bluegrass during his 100th YEAR CELEBRATION with a special Live Recording at BILL MONROE S legendary Bean Blossom Festival location produced by Sammy Shelor (Lonesome River Band). In 1973 BILL MONROE released the Classic Live Bluegrass Album BEAN BLOSSOM which contained top Bluegrass artists of the day performing Bluegrass classics and fan favorites. In 2011, 38 years later, Rural Rhythm is releasing BILL MONROE 100th YEAR CELEBRATION Live at Bean Blossom containing 12 essential BILL MONROE Classics performed by twelve Rural Rhythm artists including icons Bobby Osborne, Ronnie Reno and top Bluegrass artists; Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Lonesome River Band, Lou Reid & Carolina, Audie Blaylock and Redline, Blue Moon Rising, Grasstowne, Rickey Wasson, Dwight McCall, Carolina Road, Brand New Strings and more.
Uncle Pen' is one of the most recognizable songs that Bill Monroe ever wrote and/or recorded. Not only a favorite to bluegrass audiences, but also made popular to country music fans when Ricky Skaggs recorded and released it while performing as a country artist. We felt like our performance of this song at the Bean Blossom festival was the ultimate tribute we could pay to Bill Monroe and his music for this live recording.
Russell Moore (Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out)
We chose Can t You Hear Me Calling because we really like the energy the song has....It s a classic Bill Monroe number. We had so much fun performing at Bean Blossom this year and we could feel a great vibe and energy at the park around the recording and memory of the "Father of Bluegrass" and this Bill Monroe 100th anniversary event. -
Lou Reid (Lou Reid & Carolina)
With extensive liner notes provided by Bill Monroe and Bean Blossom historian Tom Adler, BILL MONROE 100th YEAR CELEBRATION Live at Bean Blossom is a very special Live Recording performed by Artists who called BILL MONROE his friend, mentor or hero and honors the Father of Bluegrass during his 100th Year Celebration.

AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Oh Ya
The saddest Bluegrass song as the guy is dead in the song. Awesome version, better than the Seldom Seen, or Ricky Skaggs or The Man in Black.
Just noticed a typo it should be The Seldom Scene, with the Late Great and lamented John H Duffy I use to go the the Birchmere and watch them when I lived near DC, they were wonderful.
+Ihategiggle gigglesucks Could be worse, the Matterhorn where everyone is dead.
+ecman1986 Yep, but this guy went to the gallows, just to avoid a scandal not a great reason.
Love Lou Reed too...whose the girl singing in his band?
Better then lefty himself
Lost something along the way..
Ultimate who done it solved. Couple plots to kill a man. She gets lover that looks like her husband, entertains him while husband kills. Boyfriend takes rap. Couple gets away. Deed done. Suckered!
"She stood in the crowd, and shed not a tear." Man, that should have been a dead give away. (Pun intended.)
But that probably is her in the veil. They say karma is, how do you say? I'm betting her husband done her in. No witnesses then.
