  • This two-step rope braiding technique is quick and easy and looks super professional! Ropes like this can be used as belts, straps, drawstrings, etc. To increase the thickness of your rope, just add more strands (but always separate them into 4 groups to start). The first rope shown was made using 16 strands of Lion Brand's 24/7 Cotton yarn. The second rope was made using 8 strands of a yarn that is not available.
Materials used in this tutorial include:
Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton in the color Ecru: bit.ly/247cotton

is there much 'take up' with this? I mean if you want a certain finished length how much more length do you have to add to start

This is awesome! Thank you! I can make my own cotton strap for my bag than buying the rope!

Do you have to twist the fibers at all for this? Or would you want to use somsthing already plied together like 4 strands of 2 ply cordage?
