Tengri is 58 years old well known singer in China. He is Mongol from inner Mongolia of China. He wrote this song in 1997 to express how much he miss and love his home town. His daughter passed away at a very young age due to illness so this song is for her as well. In the beginning there was traditional Mongolian throat singing. Some traditional Mongolian instrument was used in this performance like horsehead fiddle
I did watch the whole season because of Jessie J. and actually fall in love with Tengri and Hua Chenyu. Watching Tengri gave me goosebumps, he is such an amazing artist. Hua, he impressed me so much with his talent. Also loved Wang Feng and James Lee/Li?.
He is a great singer and lovely old man.
This was the only performance that made me cry in this contest.

Tengri was born in 1960 in China's Inner Mongolia. In 1985, after graduating from the Tianjin Conservatory, Tengri became a professional singer and composer. He is well known in China. He wrote this song in 1997 to express how much he misses and loves his hometown and his daughter. His daughter died at the age of six due to illness. In the beginning, there was traditional Mongolian throat singing. This performance used the traditional Mongolian instrument Morin Khuur
This song is all about release and hold. If you know what the song is (it`s about loving his family and hometown) and the singer`s history (his daughter died few years ago and he was very depressed since then, but he comes back again). After knowing those, you may understand why he sang in that way.

I love the combination of smooth and strong tunes of his voices. It was describe his home sickness about his home (and sadly i just learned that he lost his daughter) , thats what i think he try to express to his strong yelling, that he missed and can't even reach her. Even in the end he said let it flow with the nature. But his feeling alone is overflow through the music that he sang. He use the smooth tunes to describe the nature and the strong voices to describe his own feeling to it. It will make more sense once you understand / translate what he sing. Tengri is a Mongol from inner Mongolia of China. He is a well known singing artist in China. He is versitle. He can do rock too. But my favorite is his Heaven performance hands down.

FYI, the special instrument is morin khuur aka horsehead fiddle, which is a a traditional Mongolian bowed stringed instrument.
sorry for bad English, i think those singers, in the beginning, use a skill named Tuvan which allowed them to produce a fundamental pitch and-simultaneously-one or more pitches over that, it is very special. The main singer also sings in Mongolian style, and he performs this song for his daughter who already passes away, so it is a sad and beautiful song.

it is not exactly Tuvan. It is Mongolian/Mongolian Tuvan voice technique so called Huumii or Hoomii. Technically speaking, Tuvan is ethnic of Mongolian, it is also not wrong to call it Tuvan. But Huumii or Hoomii is not exclusivelly practiced by Tuvans. Tuvans Hoomii is one of many school of Huumii or Hoomii.

He is amazing - a performance beast! And I am so riveted by that throat singing technique in the beginning. He's Mongolian - I've also heard Kazakh performers do something like it. An absolutely unique vocal technique in this world.

谭维维 ; 紫 by 郭沁 ; 沧海一声笑 by GAI ; 你就不要想起我 by 张杰 ; 齐天 by Hua ChenYu (very young and popular star in China now) ; 南屏晚钟 by Hua ChenYu , and the song 默 by 那英. first is song name, second is singer. You can just copy the name and check. 紫 is very normal, but other one is good, enjoy!

Thanks for the reaction, coach. I had a feeling might you enjoyed the performance :) . Yes, he has other performances in "Singer 2018" show. This _"Heaven"_ performance for me is Tengger's best. Not that his other performances weren't good. It's just that performances from fellow artists/singers of the show like Jessie J, KZ, "Hua Hua" Chenyu were insanely good. BTW, I highly recommend reacting to Jessie J's performances there too. I had a notion in the past of Jessie J as a mere pop singer. I'd been pleasantly surprise by her showcase of growth, thanks to her showings in "Singer 2018". Her _"Purple Rain"_ rendition, Whitney Houston (!!) covers, and my favorite _"Killing Me Softly"_ , won me over. Maybe those will win you too :) .

Teng Ger Er is his name, which should be three syllables as "təŋ“ ”gə“ ”ər“ when you say it. He is a singer from Inner Mongolia in China and he is a mongolian. HEAVEN is a song he wrote in 1997 when he was 37 years old, and HEAVEN refers to the grassland of his hometown in Inner Mongolia. But the show in this video happened in 2018, that was 8 years after his 6-year old daughter died of some kind of congenital disease. So i think his feelings in this singing must be different from the earlier's, which might mix the love for his hometown and his little daughter, and that's why many female listeners are deeper moved by this version than male listeners. The last sentence of this song is mongolian language which means " Just follow the will of nature and time" , but i think he must not want to. He just wants his daughter could be back.

He is a Mongolian singer, who is singing the song in Chinese language. Background musics are all Mongolian instruments such as horse violin etc. The violinists performed throat singing which is also traditional Mongolian way of singing. Very good combination.

Yes he is an experienced singer. Talking about Singer 2018 check out Hua Chenyu's Nunchucks. He is also a young talented composer and changed the original song to something entirely new within a week. Say something by Kz was actually written by him. Sorry Kz's fans but she actually have a lot to catch up to do. Also checkup Hua singing Tenggir's Heaven...entire difference. But...Dimash is still the best

I think this song gives me a chance to imagine - the cool wind on the grassland, the bright sun above the broad area, the enthusiastic people in Inner Mongolia and so on... I lived close to his hometown so I know that everyone at my father’s age likes his song.
He is a Chinese Inner Mongolia singer. There are grasslands everywhere there. And the people love singing and dancing. He got typical Mongolian minority style. You can imagine how the sound travels across the grassland with wind sounds like.
