Assassins blade first! I loved reading the assassins blade so when Celaena starts talking about the experiences in the initials books you know what she’s talking about. I’ve had a friend say when she read Tog first she regretted it bc Celaenas character was more difficult to connect to.
I've been writing down all the responses & AB is still in the lead to start! That makes so much sense - that getting some extra background information about your main character will make you understand them better from the start! 🥰

When I was reading ToG I've started with The Assassin's Blade and it was great. It was few years ago, kind of before this whole SJM craze and I think even she recommended to read it fist back then.
I actually heard that from a few people - that SJM actually always used to recommend AB first & just recently changed her tune on that! I'm still thinking that starting with AB is going to be the way to go for me! 💙
This is my first time watching one of your videos and I am so glad I found you! Instantly followed and half way into the video brings me comfort and joy! I recommend Throne of Glass first as you become more invested and get to know the characters you understand the meanings of the characters choices later in Assassins Blade.

Me again! I started reading Throne of Glass last month and am in love with the series! I started with Assassin's Blade. I think it helped with knowing the back story with the main character.

Excellent ideas! There are actually several "your choice" slices on the prompt wheel & there's a "read your most recent purchased book" slice as well - they just never come up 😂
so, i followed a reading guide for throne of glass because i wanted to do the tandem read for tower of dawn and empire of storms. when it comes to throne of glass or assassin's blade, the "romantic order" is throne of glass first, because you get to know the main characters first and it has more emotional impact, and i guess also some "aha" moments when you connect everything together. that's what i did. and then "purist order" is basically just chronological order, which puts assassin's blade first. i'm interested to know how you'll come away from assassin's blade and if it hooked you or not, it's such a hard choice to choose what to read first!
Funny enough, the reading guide that I had found (because I want to do the tandem read too) had the same two ways you could choose to read. Of course, I'm more drawn to the romantic way...so now I'm rethinking! 😬
@@sheisbookedandbusyI also recommend the “romantic”. It’s how I read it, and the stories have more emotional punch when you know the characters better. It literally made me emotional with some of the stories. ❤

Read it inside the series after you’ve started it. I read it after book 3 and I loved it there. I think it would be very slow if it was first. But seriously it’s great either way!

Sjm actually wrote AB first as novellas but published them later as a whole after TOG. She also previously said that AB should be read first but recently changed it. I've not started the series yet but I'll be reading AB first as it makes the most sense to me.

I read TOG first and The Assassins Blade third I believe? It was fine and I still enjoyed the books, but I wish I would’ve started with TAB😮 Having the story happen in chronological order just works better for me… rather than jumping to past and present timelines between books 😅 but don’t stress too much about it, it’s a beautiful story that you’re going to enjoy regardless

I loved the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) when it first came out (and was supposed to be a trilogy) and it still remains one of the favourite book series of all time.
For the Throne of Glass series, I read in publication order (recently did an audiobook reread). The first time I read, I was waiting for books to be written and published. I like Assassin’s Blade in the middle(ish), because it gives some insight into the main characters motives prior to the book starting, and also introduces characters that will be coming up in the books that come after (the Assassins Blade was published) and how she meets them and how they come to be in the story. I don’t necessarily think you need to know about those characters at the beginning of the series. That is just my opinion/preference.

Okay, so I read She Started It last summer and I was intrigued buttttt I just was kind of let down at the end. I felt like it was predictable ……but my cousin says that I always guess the endings of thrillers 😂. So I’m curious to see if you like it. Also, just have to say that I’m not big on YA romance but Better Than the Movies was adorable and I loved it so freaking much. Ok that’s all 😊

Most people say to start with The Assassin's Blade I tried reading it and I got confused with it so I started Throne of Glass instead I only got to Chapter 9. I have been wanting to read Fear the Flames but it just got picked up from a publisher so I have to wait until September. I heard some great things about The Nanny. ⚔ Oh I wouldn't mind reading Eragon since I haven't read that series yet. Hope you have a great reading month!

Fear the Flames sounds amazing & if it wasn't so DANG long, I probably would have picked that one for this month! @sheisbookedandbusy I really enjoyed Eragon even though it definitely had some moments where the writing wasn't the greatest. Eldest, I ended up only giving two stars, unfortunately. I hope the third will be more enjoyable when I am able to get to it.
Ohhh interesting! Was the writing maybe a bit tooooo YA? Or cringey? I struggle with that with YA fantasy & romances sometimes!
@sheisbookedandbusy I don't mind YA generally, but you can tell these were written by a teenage boy. Full of angst. In Eragon, the plot held up the story, but in Eldest, you didn't have that. Plus the author tried to insert some romance in the second one, but clearly didn't have a clue. Still I know a lot of people love the whole series so maybe it was just me.
It is alright to change it up, you can cheat, it is your game your rules. I am glad you added 5 more spins, I never want this video to end.

I tried to read assassins blade first but could not connect to any of the characters, I felt like I was supposed to already know them. The I picked up throne of glass and was hooked immediately. So just give it a try 😊

Read The Assassin's Blade after Heir of Fire!!! That's how I read it the first time and it was definitely the way to go. I've been re-reading them this year and started with The Assassin's Blade and it wasn't as good of an experience. Start with Throne of Glass please!!!
I'm reading & writing all the comments & I've seen this order suggested multiple times as well! I've also heard that you're introduced to characters in AB that don't show up again until several books later! True!? 💐
@@sheisbookedandbusy Yes so it's nice to have AB fresh in your head for the later books. Also Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows have lots of allusions to AB cuz it's meant to be read between those two

I read throne of glass as it published and completely skipped assassins blade 😂. Still to this day I haven’t read it and it’s one of my favorite series of all time.
You know what? I’ve never even considered that as an option but honestly, do we really even need to read AB at all?! 🤣🤣🤣
Just to give you the other opinion: Please read TOG first! The stories in the prequel won’t connect until the second half of the series, which is why SJM says to read the first half of the series and then the prequel. 💜😊

@@sheisbookedandbusyI agree with OP! I just read the series and it was more emotional impactful this way. The prequel connects to the later books more imo. It also is a good change of pace in the series. Plus SJM herself has said this is the way.

Yes! So apparently I've been informed that SJM originally recommended that you read AB first, but has recently updated her preference to AB fourth. So I really was leaning on reading it the updated way but I've heard such conflicting opinions! 💌

It really is ambitious...I definitely am not fooling myself into thinking I'll finish all 15 books this month, but I needed a little extra flexibility in my options to kick start me back into reading this month! @@sheisbookedandbusy I'm open to anything except I don't do horror. ( might be a few I might try..im not sure) I've dipped my toes a bit into thrillers and nonfiction. Not sure if I've read any literary fiction, maybe. I'm open to it. Love fantasy, romance, romance/fantasy,high fantasy and fiction. Spice I'm open to any amount at moment lol.

It feels to me like the majority says assassin's blade should be read first but I haven't read it personally.
Yes, I've been writing down all the responses & so far reading AB first is still winning by a pretty narrow margin! So that's still the plan! ⚔️

Same here, but I honestly think some people's reading order preference has changed since SJM herself switched her preference to AB being fourth in the series...that's my theory at least! 🙂
That's a fair thought tbh. I could totally see that happening. Not sure that I'd trust that switch tho if people switch that easily just because the author said something, especially if before they had been holding a different opinion haha@@sheisbookedandbusy

Billy summers is definitely an easier read for King. I enjoyed it.
That's what I've heard! I'm so intimidated by Stephen King's writing for some odd reason so maybe going into Billy Summers as my first will be a good introduction! 😬
The assassin's blade first it will make more sense.
Yes! That seems to be the consensus so far! & it really makes sense that getting more information right upfront on the main character will give the reader more understanding for that character moving through the series! 🍓

Appendices 😆
As though english isn't a hard enough language, we have to deal with words like "appendix" 😂😂 but fun fact: because I am OCD, I actually looked up what the plural was afterwards & BOTH ARE RIGHT! Apparently when you are speaking of a book appendix, it's appendices, but when you are talking about the organ appendix, it's appendixes! WHO KNEW! 😂😂

I think doing Assassin's Blade first is a good choice. I personally find the main character to be a bit annoying in the first couple of books, but reading Assassin's Blade helps you understand her better and makes her more likable even when she's being UNlikable.
So funny that you said that about the main character because I've been told that before - that it takes a few books to be more attached to the MFC. I also heard TOG feels significantly more YA than a lot of the other books in the series - true?! 😬
I say read Assassin's Blade first. That is how I did and while i had a little bit of a hard time at the start, simply because I didnt understand what the story was, I enjoyed reading it chronologically. If you want tk read the story chronologically (sotry-line wise) definitely read Assassins Blade first

One character doesn't reappear until Book 7, but I liked the surprise factor and if you wait to read Assassins Blade until halfway through the series you may find it dry or boring because there won't be any shock factor. Like, Sam (I LOVE HIM SO MUCH). I don't know if I'd have loved him as much if I already knew how his story ended in AB
Seeeeeeee, I'm not sure about that now! If I hear about a character & love them, I don't want to wait for 7 books to see them again! But I guess I'll have to force myself to be patient! 😂

While I liked In the Lives of Puppets I don’t know if it’s the best TJ Klune to start with. It was a bit of a let down after House in the Cerulean Sea and Under the Whispering Door
I've actually seen a few comments saying the same thing! I'm definitely going to keep that in mind when I read it so I don't get disenfranchised with the author! 💌

Oh I was so nice! It was our first time on the Disney Wish and while the food was fantastic and the ship itself beautiful, it lacked a lot of Disney magic that makes the other 4 so Disney-esc
Omg! You went on the Wish!? I've heard it's beautiful! But I've also heard that the Disney cruises haven't had as much "magic" vibe.
@@sheisbookedandbusy i think it totally depends on how you classify "magic" this was Disney Cruise number 7 and my mom and I have 5 more booked between now and next May so.... we definitely enjoy them haha
My husband was 6 foot by the time he was 13 and his mom is my height I think which is 5 foot 10
