Tenten was amazing when she was first introduced. She was the first Genin who wasn't a fangirl or had an inferiority complex. Almost everything after Sasuke leaves is filler, but it's GOOD filler. The filler was so much fun to watch, despite it just being filler.
think of it this way: when you're on a team with people like Lee and Guy- whose daily behavior borders on the ridiculous and outrageous- or Neji- whose reserved and haughty demeanor can really grate on one's nerves- the ability to keep a level head can really come in handy. Tenten has a no-nonsense air which balances out the polarity of her teammates. She is also not afraid to use some wicked weapons and fight it out alongside all her male comrades. Team Guy could not function without her.
