Hahahaha, this is the quickest way to trim or cut cypress but you can also use hand pruners the traditional way except your hands will be tired specially if so many cypress to cut. Thanks, enjoy gardening, and be safe...
Beautiful trees, how old are they. I'd rather have them a bit bigger on the side...are they that thin. I got one as a present and currently is 40 cm tall ( over a feet). I live in Japan. Thanks.
They were 20 years old, and they need to be pruned every year to maintain their height due they grows so fast. I also trim the sides. My neighbor cut theirs all the way down due it became leaning on the sides because they don’t prune them. If I were you need to prune them to easily maintain them. Enjoy gardening.
They were planted from a 1 foot tall 20 years ago & actually this was the 2nd time I top pruned them but I trimmed the sides yearly to maintain growing vertically. They grow so fast & I recommend to prune them every year for easier maintenance specially the sides. 1 of my neighbor planted 2 plants in their yard & they have never pruned them & the tree bending sideways due to heavy weight and bushy instead of growing vertically . They end up chopping the whole thing. Too bad , wished I helped them to save the tree. Enjoy...
Where are you located? Btw, online the general info on Wilma Goldcrest is that it grows to 6' in 10 years, maybe up to 12' max with more years. Shorter heights will probably be more likely in mildly alkaline conditions, such as in coastal Southern California, while still maintaining good health. I'm in San Diego, CA.@@plantbodybydesign7534
Cupressus macrocarpa 'Wilma Goldcrest’ cypress. When I bought fom the nursery when they were still in a gallon container they were labeled as such. Let me know what do you call them please, thanks...
@@plantbodybydesign7534 I did more research & maybe yours is darker due to shade? Not sure…but it is very weird at how dark it is. It could have something to do w/ how it was pruned too? Must’ve watched a dozen videos. I do believe you! lol
@@bluebird4805 Maybe when the video was taken was later in the afternoon shows darker but when there is sunlight or summer shows more of the yellowish color. Enjoy gardening...
Your focus is on the color. I just bought a Wilma Goldcrest; the mature height is stated as 6-8 feet (quite a lot shorter than those in the video). My impression is that WG is a dwarf cypress.
I've been searching for a while on "how to cut cypress" this is the ONLY video that uses a Sawzall... Great idea. I'll try it now. Thanks

@@bonsummers2657 We are located in Seattle Washington & always raining that’s why the plant grows so fast & have to use a ladder to prune it.
I live in Washington too. I just planted four in my yard, so we shall see how that goes. Wish me luck. 😊@plantbodybydesign7534
Alright, two things. You need a spotter to hold that ladder and be careful cutting with saw and a wire. Yikes. Otherwise cool. Video
The ladder is very steady & of course safety first but thanks for the advise. Glad that you liked it, thanks.
But that’s not a Wilma Goldcoast.

The misleading labelling helps to sell plants. Mine, despite the labelling, is now around 20 feet!
