Bio: Wajahat S. Khan is an Emmy-nominated journalist and author reporting on Indo-Pacific security and focusing on the Af-Pak conflict. An Adjunct Professor at New York University’s Center of Global Affairs and non-resident Senior Fellow at Washington’s Atlantic Council, Khan is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Journalism and the University of Michigan, as well as Pakistan’s only Shorenstein Fellow for Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He has reported from 16 countries covering conflict, diplomacy, and media for digital, cable and network news. During the final years of U.S. military operations in Afghanistan, Khan was bureau chief in Kabul and Islamabad for NBC News, and embedded with over a hundred NATO, Afghan, Indian and Pakistani military and paramilitary units as he covered South Asia for leading US, British, Indian, Japanese and Pakistani networks and publications since the beginning of the 2001 U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. Recently, he served as the Digital Editor at Nikkei Asia, where he launched Nikkei’s first podcast series, and edited a popular weekend newsletter at the Eurasia Group. Very powerful show 👍🏻. Dr. Pirzada raised a very important and valid point about how the international media draws wrong parallels by blaming that similar blatant misuse of power was happening during IKs government. The truth is that now we are living in the worst of the times in terms of freedom.

It’s brave people like you, Dr Moeed , Adil Raja, Sabir Shakir, Haider Mehdi, Sami Ibrahim, Irfan Hashmi and others who are keeping the Pakistani people within Pakistan and abroad informed. We are grateful to you for taking serious risks. You guys are our real heroes. Arshad Sharif and other martyrs paid the ultimate price and will always be in our hearts. These Shaheeds should be given the same level of respect as our brothers who laid down their lives in defending our homeland.
A word of advice given the recent undemocratic steps taken by the current military junta to silence media personalities abroad, it would be best to form a journalists alliance or forum to counter this witch-hunt collectively. This will give more impetus to efforts to engage international organizations like the RSF, HRW and Amnesty International. A collective voice is more powerful than individual voices. More power to you, stay strong and we are all behind you!

You make for an dynamic duo! I suggest you guys should do more vlogs such as this in English. Invite western guests on a regular basis (particularly from western media) for reasons to inform them of the ' 'realistic' facts in terms of media freedom in pk history, the idea of which is to instill and equip them with knowledge with which, they can assist in spreading awareness in their domain respectively.
I am sharing news and vlogs from credible sources (such as yours) with my English speaking colleagues & friends. I've written to my MP, she replied back with the usual rhetoric, condemning the human rights violations in pk but nothing substantial.
So salient for overseas pakistanis to spread awareness amongst the common white man/woman.
I don't think the western governments will act unless they receive pressure from within their own public!

You are doing a good job spreading awareness among the average Westerner but the reality is that Western governments will NEVER act for the overall well-being of the Pakistani commoner irrespective of whether they face some pressure from their own public or not. They have never acted before and will neither do so in the future. All they want to do is to protect their own interests. They are well aware that the best way to protect their own interests is to deal with the ELITE Pakistani intelligentsia.
In one of his recent interviews with Piers Morgan, when Morgan asked Imran Khan about what kind of response would he like from Rishi Sunak and Joe Biden, Khan made it clear to him that he doesn't expect much from these guys because Pakistan's Military dictators are living up to Western expectations (i.e delivering on their promises to support the West in Ukraine's war against Russia ). So all these so called "democratic values'' of the West go out of the window, once Western governments know that they enjoy the support of Pakistani Power Circles. Unlike the Military dictators with a slave mentality running Pakistan for the last 75 years, Imran Khan is a totally different beast. He wants to develop an independent foreign policy and he doesn't fit well into the West's overall agenda to maintain some sort of control over global affairs.
Deep down in his heart, IK knows that his best bet is faith in Allah Subhanuhu Wa Taala and the support of the Pakistani man on the street.

The attack on Mr. Noorani was covered by the local press such as by dawn.
Mr. Mir when he was hospitalized in Karachi even the then-prime minister of Pakistan visited Mr. Mir in the hospital and Mr. Mir in fact was also provided heavy security by the local law enforcement.
However, one would also want to consider the effects of the Arab Spring on the economies and the politics of the respective countries eg Lebanon. Everybody in the end wants a stable Pakistan both economically and politically after all there is so much to gain from stability for Pakistan.
Wajahat and Dr. Pirzada both are wonderful journalists and certainly would condemn any sort of violence towards the state and its infrastructure.
Certainly due process of law will always be followed along with a detailed investigation. In fact, Pakistan has always taken pride in training journalists since 1941 which started in Lahore
