I quite like the various styles that fall under the umbrella of Historical European Martial Arts myself. Particularly Joachim Meyer's treatise on the use of this tool. Much of it translates over to spears (some of which do have the capacity to cut or slash) if not a glaive or halberd. These things you can fashion a makeshift version of by lashing or otherwise affixing your knife to one end of the stave.

Great vid! Like and sub! Please keep posting!
I have a similar quiver and I am impressed that you can practice defensive moves w/ staff and knives and the arrow remained in the quiver the entire time. This to me demonstrated both strength and poise. Your feet position and some of your strikes reminded me of yoga warrior poses. I am starting to study and practice stick yoga, which is evolving into learning to efficiently swing my staff. As you explained, no fancy spin moves, but learning to quickly swing and use the momentum to set up for the next swing. I practice stick yoga, work on my stick swings and then practice archery. The common thread for me is breath, balance, form, and focus. You definitely demonstrated all 4. Would enjoy corresponding w/ you about “warrior yoga” practice.

Attacker should never see the knife, only feel it. Staff is the opposite.

This is a dumb question but what if you are hiking and a bear starts moving towards you? How could I use my walking stick to scare off a small to medium sized bear?

Not much you can do. I'd say don't run and don't be near cubs. Jabs are your best bet then long single staff strikes to its face. You'll probably piss it off more but not much you can do

Cold steel do some nice samburu spears and a nice sheath knife that fits straight on that staff.

"Using your bo in a self defence situation"
    Ok....
(It's obvious you can use one though)

      @@thecantedarcher6999 sorry, I didn't communicate clearly.
I was commenting on the unlikelihood of using or having a bo in a self defence situation.
And I agree, like all things, keep working at it with good instruction and critique. Perfect practice makes perfect play.
Thanks for your reply, and for the video.

Why not just swap out the word harness for the word quiver? Instead of writing a whole Nother sentence.?
