    Hummel is a vastly underrated composer.

      Hummel never composed a symphony. No doubt he felt intimidated by Beethoven's achievements in that genre.

      Bach never composed an Opera, I guess he had to reincarnate as Mozart then... Just because a composer does not make a genre of music output, such as Symphonie or Opera, it doesn’t diminish him necessarily. Nonetheless Mozart composed about every genre, basically.

      @@maximilliancamilleri7907 I do agree as with most composers that have existed that Haydn was, although Stamitz really was the first developer of the the Symphonie, the Alles Papá, Allfathr of musicians and composers, we all said that we highly respected him, nobody that I know or knew would say otherwise. And Haydn would say of Mozart in the uttermost highest respect, saying that he was often was deeply touched by his music «quite fervently».

    This is a good one. It sounds more "classical" than the 2nd and 3rd concertos but it's just as expertly crafted as those.

    Thanks for putting this piece, I have not listened to much Hummel by the way, and I appreciate that you have started a cycle of Hummel's works.

    This concerto picked up the nickname "Les Adieux", possibly because it was a farewell to Paris after a stay there.

      Ciao!

    I really enjoyed listening to this concert! Thank you very much dear Mister! In the third movement I hear some ideas which Chopin used later in his concertos! There are some really creativ moments in this concerto as well. Really nice peace by Hummel, who was a virtuoso himself! Thank you very mich, Mister!

    It seems possible to me that the strong trombone colouration in the outer movements of this work influenced Chopin's choice to use them in his own two concerti, given Chopin, before settling in Paris from Nov 1830, had at least the Opp. 85 and 89 of Hummel in his concert programmes.
    The rub is that given the opus number, this work may not have been published in time for Chopin to perform or at least study it

    • @findelka1810
      @findelka1810 Рік тому +1

      The 1st publication date is uncertain, might be as early as 1826 or more likely 1827 (see info on imslp). As sheet music was very much in demand at the time and was like movies nowadays (only a couple of months delayed compared to one European city to another) and Chopin was always on the lookout for the newest, interesting music at Brzezina in Warsaw, it is very possible he has had time to study this work before he started composing his own concerti. Especially bc he was fond of Hummel. The 1830 publication of this work is probably a reprint already.

    • @findelka1810
      @findelka1810 Рік тому +1

      ‘ There is perhaps a notice of publication in 1826 that may refer to this concerto, but I suppose it is uncertain. Kroll has DOP: October 1830 (1 June 1826?) for this work. 1830 is obviously(?) wrong, since the 27 June 1827 Berliner Allegemeine Musikalische Zeitung has a review of the Peters publication of this work (perhaps reduced? 5 Thaler is the price mentioned, which may help decide which "version" is reviewed. Review.), which therefore was published by 27 June 1827 and not later. Op.104 (the cello sonata) is reviewed right after...)
      3 movements lasting 30 minutes. Actually composed earlier than the 3rd concerto Op.89 of 1819...
      However, it was also published in 1830, or at least received in 1830 by Hofmeister's: Hofmeister's Monatsbericht (1830), p.53. That may explain Kroll.’
      Chopin was in Berlin in 1828, so might very well have had access to the sheet music at least there, even if not in Warsaw. Although I’m almost certain all important music was available in Warsaw, too. Hummel was very popular at that time.

      Well, they were friends. Supposedly Ludwig wanted to marry the opera singer that Hummel wed. Can you imagine them bouncing musical ideas off each other? That would have been something to hear.

    Please watch this at the lowest quality only (144p) since it's just for the music, which is much more ecologically responsible than at a higher rate. Watching this at 240p (which is unnecessary for listening purposes), will increase the bandwith by double to almost tenfold! At 1080 the bandwith is augmented by a factor of 100!
    The use of digital technology accounts for 4% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, as much as the emissions from the world's truck fleet. Of that, a BIG part comes from livestreaming videos, mainly 3 sources : UA-cam, Netflix and porn.
    Let's enjoy this beautiful music by being aware and responsible, doing our little part in decreasing our carbon footprint and protecting this wonderful planet for the generations to come.

      Not to mention the strain put on the ecology by the fabrication of piano's. Felling of trees, casting of the metal frame. In Hummels' days they even slaughtered elephants for the making of the white keys !

    • @camilohiche4475

      @@christianwouters6764 It was (mostly, but alas not entirely) done in such a sustainable way that the material extraction rate from earth's resources was at level or lower than that of the renewal rate of said resources. As soon as that first rate is higher than the latter, the resource in question becomes non-renewable and eventually comes to extinction. This has happened multiple times over history (many animal and plant species have been extinguished this way), yet we seem to fail to understand the invaluable services that those resources provide to us as long as they are there (your reaction of weak attempt at sarcasm is a typical illustration of this), and if we persist at not understanding it or taking action towards it, we will most likely keep walking straight into our own demise.
