Yeah, I definitely think the back half of this mini album is WAY better than the pre-releases. Like I legit would not have listened to this mini without you and would have lost out on OTT and Holy Moly due to it. Off the record is the strongest of the pre-releases by a long shot while Baddie remains a non event.
I think the problem this EP has is that it lacks a stronger title track. IVE really got us used to those big, anthemic pop perfection title tracks so for them to not do that this comeback naturally feels underwhelming. I think the 3 titles chosen are not title tracks material, they are IMO simply very good *b-sides* , including Baddie. When I put aside the fact that these 3 b-sides had the burden of being titles put on them ( a weight they simply cannot carry when put next to their previous ones because they are obliterated ) and just listen to them as simple b-sides, I do actually REALLY love the project. I think the divisive discourse on Baddie overshadows the fact that the album is overall good and has some gems on it like Holy Moly, OTT & Payback, which IMO, are some of the best b-sides in their discography. I am overall happy with this release, if again, choose to view it as a title track-less project.
They are my fav 4th gen GG too, I don’t think the comeback is uninspired, I think it simply lacks a stronger main title track. I think the EP is overall really good but the lack of a big, anthemic title track like the ones from their past eras makes this comeback feel underwhelming. But the songs are still good IMO.

The issue you described with Baddie is SO spot on; I really couldn’t get into the repeating chorus
