I remember I was a junior in high school and going through a "rough breakup" when this song came out. Listening to this brings back every memory of all that surrounded what this song meant to me back then. Bittersweet.
Saw them with Yellowcard and mayday parade last summer and I was transported right back to being 14/15 and hearing these songs for the first time. It was such a good night 😊
I had this song on my cheap 64MB MP3 Player in '04 when I was in High School. You could fit 7 songs on on it lmao. I can still remember the small bunch songs I would play on it every day but this one takes me straight back.
Yea reminds me of the Sony one my dad gave me sophomore year of hs that was small as hell that i think took like 2 aa batteries. Man good times of not being an adult.
I'm 23 now, when I first listened to this song I was 15 and I still love the "page avenue", one of my favorites albums of all the time! ... listening to this now, brings me so much memories
SOTY was my favorite band and I even saw y'all live in 2004. This CD, Page Avenue meant so much to me back in those days and I can still listen to it over and over again and get the same teen angsty feelings. I'm 35 now. Life is flying by.
Love this song. When Page Avenue came out I never would have thought that I'd be able to chat and hang with the guys after shows, but 10 years later that's exactly what I'm doing. These guys are awesome.
I was in my 20’s when I first heard these guys and instantly liked them. I’m now almost 44 and still blast them at work in the shop!!! Life was better back then
Is so cool to read how many people listened to this I. High school. Hei strangers! We all kinda shared some thoughts, moments and now have some memories in common without even knowing it
The year has no effect on how it sounds. If it sounded good in 04 it should sound good now regardless. If you are true to your personality back then and still are the same person it shouldn't change unless you follow crowds that determine what they think is "cool" for you. This sounds just as good if not better now as it did back then to me.
Seen them last night in Glasgow supporting Yellowcard. They were amazing, set was tight as hell, guys singing is impeccable too. Got an amazing reception from everyone by the end of their set. Defo a throwback from the past. 👌🏻
I started One Tree Hill again and i heard this song... The memories just came rushing back to when i used to watch in 2005... Jake and Payton aarrrrgggg
I never sing karaoke, my new room mates have gotten me hooked. At 37 years old i have never once karaoke....ever, room mates asked me whats one song If I did feel comfortable, would I do.....This was it. This is the one. 10/29/2024 the memories this invokes remembering being emo and young lol. Best times of my life.
Man...We need some cleansing in the music these days...Just like their song TAKE ME BACK...their music takes me back to my younger days when we were not afraid and better days.
one of the most overrarated song written by this band i love Dans Voice i wish so much they would of blown up more this song is so beautiful and special
The bridge is all crumbled, the water soaks into rocks That fell at the bottom of the road (at the end of the town) The town that we lived in, the memories shaken apart From the weeds that grow Over the sidewalks Running away from the streets we knew Sidewalks Like the time we thought was made for you, oh Out on the front porch and watching the cars as they go by 18 blue, 21 gray Looking ahead for the first time that we could drive out on our own To speed away From the sidewalks Running away from the streets we knew Sidewalks Like the time we thought was made for you, oh All of the days have passed us by And all of the sun is gone Away Sidewalks Running away from the streets we knew Sidewalks Running away from the streets we knew Sidewalks Like the time we thought was made for you The bridge is all crumbled, the water soaks into rocks (Sidewalks) That fell at the bottom of the road
This song has always reminded me of one of my favourite Authors Mr. Shel Silverstein, The Giving Tree, A Light in the Attic, and Where the Sidewalk Ends are some of my most favourite classic works of Art... :) Thank you for writing with such splendid imagery... :) xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox
I love this song by them so much! It just reminds me of the transition I went through from being a teenager to an adult. Like a coming of age experience. I love SOTY!!!

Is it just me or does something that is supposed to bring back so much nostalgia just remind you of how depressed you used to be and I guess how much you are still holding on to you thought you got over.
Freshman year of hs I came home, flipped on Fuse and saw the chic in this video. It was then I was certain that I was living in the best music era and compleeeetly gay. :D
You need to listen to music from the 90s.... and the 80s......and 70s and 60s. Shit. You need to listen to anything before the 2000s. Music started to become shit in the 2000s
so i heard this song when one of my friends did a ballet dance to it, this is one of my absolute favorite songs. i live in st louis so im definately gonna see these guys, plus:the video is fantastic. but one of my favorite sings EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 of last 5 songs i played with my college band.. our drummer (who played this songs really good more than ten years a go) died in last year Boeing Max 8 tragedy in Jakarta..

I see most people in the comment section are nostalgic about High school days, but TBH I find my current life more enjoyable...work, money, freedom to spend and live...a life with more meaning. 2004. High school memory. Life was much simpler back then.

Listened to this on repeat middle school, high school, and now almost 30 with kids! Take me back circa 2005.
Listening to this during the COVID-19 wondering if I will ever be able to walk sidewalks without a mask with the people.
Miss the sleepless nights listening to this song on repeat..
Love this song. When Page Avenue came out I never would have thought that I'd be able to chat and hang with the guys after shows, but 10 years later that's exactly what I'm doing. These guys are awesome.
When page avenue came out I never thought it would be the last album they made that was good
I was in my 20’s when I first heard these guys and instantly liked them. I’m now almost 44 and still blast them at work in the shop!!! Life was better back then
I always liked this band, even though i love metal and harder rock. this stuff has always stuck with me over the years.
2004. I was 17 and I remember driving home from the hospital after my dad having just died, and playing this CD on the way home.
Damn man thats sad. Im really sorry.
I'm so sorry. I was 16 in 2004 but this CD meant the world to me too.
Is so cool to read how many people listened to this I. High school. Hei strangers! We all kinda shared some thoughts, moments and now have some memories in common without even knowing it
How does this still sound so good in 2019??

Saw these guys at the vans tour. 300 big dudes cry/screaming this song. Wish more bands helped guys.
Great song.
Unfitting music video. Should've been filmed in a neighborhood with nostalgic themes.
Been listening to this song for 17 years and still loving it each time...
I just found it a month ago. This is talent and meaningful music
Take me back to this era. Sincerely, fellow elder emo.

Take me back to my memories... ;"(
The bridge is all crumbled, the water soaks into rocks
That fell at the bottom of the road (at the end of the town)
The town that we lived in, the memories shaken apart
From the weeds that grow
Over the sidewalks
Running away from the streets we knew
Sidewalks
Like the time we thought was made for you, oh
Out on the front porch and watching the cars as they go by
18 blue, 21 gray
Looking ahead for the first time that we could drive out on our own
To speed away
From the sidewalks
Running away from the streets we knew
Sidewalks
Like the time we thought was made for you, oh
All of the days have passed us by
And all of the sun is gone
Away
Sidewalks
Running away from the streets we knew
Sidewalks
Running away from the streets we knew
Sidewalks
Like the time we thought was made for you
The bridge is all crumbled, the water soaks into rocks
(Sidewalks) That fell at the bottom of the road
Running away from the street I knew. Thank you for this song, you helped me examine my self and make improvement.
I really like this music video. It's clever the way it doesnt reveal the intention until the very end.

Excellent concept of the video, congratulations to the director.

What a perfect song..
it will always be 'story of the year' no matter what year it is.
Great song. Brings back so many memories!

Treyven Oliver Didn't think of it that way. Brilliant.
I think it was more about the destruction of relationships (the crumbled bridge and "sidewalks! running away from the streets we knew")and how naive we are in a happy one ("sidewalks! like the time we thought was made for you") and how our memories get tainted over time. (the weeds growing)
The bridge represents the relationship and the sidewalks represent the pathway to the person. Running away from "the streets we knew" is running away from that person and as time passes we reminisce about our past with that person and how we thought we were made for each other, but those memories slowly get tainted represented by weeds growing.
