These engines are great, they don’t run out of power at all, the redline actually kicks in just a bit before 5000rpm around 4890rpm so you don’t get the full, adjust the screw for the Rev limited which is what I’m away to do I should be able to increase the power a fraction as stated by Peugeot it gets 58hp at 5000rpm and it isn’t reaching full power. These engines max power starts when the redline stops....
@designspm I'll have you know that the 58BHP occurs at 5450 rpm. which is impossible to reach with the standard throttle setting. and its torque that hauls you from 0-60 NOT the BHP. torque in the 1.5D is 71 lbft and happens at about 2600 rpm, and since it has tall gears its better to change at about 4000 rpm which bring it back into the maximum torque range. BHP is only useful for sustained high speed.
@MartinObviously that's why I change it at 5100 +/- yesterday versus corsa 1.3 cdti 75bhp is about the same, I'm in front until 150, than put 5th gear and corsa goes on front a little
@MartinObviously yes it's nm not lbft... if your car is not fast as 1.1 it's your problem, my car when was stock does the same as 1.1 monopoint injection. at this time with modifications and 290000 km on the clock does the same as 1.1 multipoint... at staight line 4750/4800, with a little downhill 5000 or more..
Torque gives you acceleration. My 1.5D has over 110NM from 1600-3800rpm (2200 peak). Max HP was 62 @ 4800. The book figures are never quite correct. HP is good for maintaining speed. That was with no modification.
Eccellente piccolo diesel. @designspm No, it isn't much faster. How about you learn facts. And stop going off topic, the point I was making is that is torque that gets you from 0-60 not BHP. Any person with basic knowledge of engines knows that you change gear past your power peak, so you have to change gear beyond 5100 rpm to make use of the 58 BHP - which you can't do since there is no torque to accelerate past ~5100 rpm effectively.
