I just ordered the Anvil 6.5 yesterday after watching the Short Circuited Brewer reviews. I stumbled across this channel and glad I did! It’s great to see the 6.5 in action and giving me tons of ideas. Please keep up these videos and I am especially curious to see how this beer turns out!
@@HopsANDgnarly curious how you decided between this and the larger 10.5? I just got back into brewing recently, only doing 2.5-3 gallon batches but I used to do 5. I really like the idea of just rolling with the 6.5 since it's nice and compact. Do you feel like you'll longer term stay with this batch size?
Mark Cheek I also used to brew 5 gallon batches but it’s just too much beer when you brew regularly. Plus I still like to buy craft beer. For me, 2.5 gallons is the perfect finished volume and I don’t miss larger batches one bit. I keg most of my beer in 2.5 gallon torpedo kegs which can be stacked in my kegerator. When I made the switch I was able to double the amount of taps on my kegerator because two now fit in the space of one 5 gallon corny keg. Hope that helps! Cheers!
1:45 - "I'm trying to emphasize the malt character so going a little heavier on the gypsum than the CaCl" - isn't that backwards? You'd be sharpening the beer and presenting a drier, hoppier side with heavier gypsum.
It was hard to tell in the video, but it looked like you had the water flowing backwards in the chiller. It should flow from the top of the chiller down and out the bottom of the chiller. Due to the way heat rises the coldest part of the chiller needs to be at the top. When I changed mine around it worked much better. I have the 10.5.
Thanks man! I’m completely independent of Anvil. I bought my Foundry 6.5 right when I started the channel. Since then they’ve sent me a few things, hence the disclosures in the most recent videos.
@@HopsANDgnarly what a great company :) I'm so happy with my 3 gal bucket fermenter. Just about to brew my first Gose after a handful of kettle sours and your channel is definitely giving me some inspiration. Keep doing you!
I usually look through a number of resources and combine the best of each to form a recipe using BeerSmith. A great place to start is beerandbrewing.com. I recommend subscribing to the magazine as well!
Yass! Been patiently waiting for another brew vid!!
🙌🏼🍻
Haven;t been this hyped for brew vids since brewing TV
The good old days!!
Been making beer for a while but loved your video. Thumbs up from me
That’s great! Thanks man!

Yep I think someone else called that out in the comments. I got it switch around 🤦🏼♂️

Makes total sense! I can’t tell from the video either but I made some adjustments since this brew day that you’ll see in the next one. Thanks man 🍻
Glad I discovered your channel! I love the camerawork and the polished esthetic of your videos. How did you get such a sweet gig with anvil?

@@ThisIsCoRn Heck yea! Gose is actually my next video ✌🏼🍻
Do you have a tasting video? How'd it turn out?
Great video, Just got my Anvil 6.5 in and looking for a first brew to try on it. Wanted to try something new. Where do you come up with your recipes?

Another great beer video. BTW what kind of board do you ride?
Thanks! The newest one is a blank maple board 🍻
Look good! I think these got mixed up:
Calcium chloride = more malt sweetness
Gypsum = more hop bite
Wow! I can’t believe all this time and no one else pointed that out 🤦🏼♂️ Yep, you’re totally right!
Super pumped to see how this beer comes out. Curious, do you typically use a refractometer instead of a hydrometer?
Me too! Yep, I use a refractometer before fermentation and a hydrometer after. Cheers!
Is it pronounced “Gooze” or “Goza” I’ve heard both but have been calling it “Goza”, but now I’m doubting myself.
They’re actually two different beers. Gueuze and Gose.
The respective Wikipedia articles have phonetic spelling of the two beer styles.
