- Bangladesh's army chief will meet student protest leaders on Tuesday as the country awaits the formation of a new government a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled following a violent uprising against her. FRANCE 24's Mark Owen is joined by Economist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus. A key organizer of Bangladesh's student protests said Yunus was their choice as head of an interim government.

About 40% of people (less than 30 years) can relate to this and feel that a systematic change is necessary. It's not like changing the government. It's like changing the system. The real question is whether the students can bring the majority of the population to their side and explain what needs to be done if they want to end wealth concentration.

Yes, you are correct. Moreover the reservation quotas are written in the constitution. In addition there news reports that Ynis has illegally ammased more than 100 million dollars. This clearly is not a student revolt. There arr islamists and other groups behond the riots.

What is Mr.Yunus doing to safeguard lives of minorities in Bangladesh...reports of attacks on hindus are emerging
It is mainly a narrative peddled by sections of the mainstream Indian media with vested interest in keeping Bangladesh under a puppet like Hasina who fashions similar dictatorial style like Mr. Modi.
Apart from a few sporadic incidents, the population is deeply aware that minorities will be targeted to offset the narrative and colour it as fringe Islamists chaos and not a mass student led revolution to dilute the magnitude of this popular uprising and consequent victory.
If you are Indian, please note, Bangladeshis are taking care of the minorities and any attack on them will not be tolerated by its people. We are one and we intend to be so.

Md. Yunus is well respected inside and outside Bangladesh, but will not lead the next Bangladeshi government because he is not a politician and will not enjoy political support. Religious fundamentalists (Jamaat ul Islami), the party banned by Sheikh Hasina, will be in power, otherwise Bangladesh will be continued to be ruled by the army, like Pakistan. It has been proven time and again that democracy doesn't work in Islamic countries.
