What you said about the Enfield is so funny. I said exactly the same thing with my 2002 Bullet 500. After riding it for a good year to 18 months by dealer asked me how I liked it. I said, “it’s great, it turns heads, and it’s a perfect commuter bike. I just wish I could go farther and faster.“ He had a 2000 Moto Guzzi Jackal on consignment. I test-rode it, and never look back. Rode Guzzis for 12 years! Now on a 2020 BMW R1250RS, but the Bullet got me back into motorcycling.
@@bcgal0004 depends. If you have to ride 2 hours down the highway to get to a place to ride off road, I'd think you'd want to upgrade to something with at least a little more highway capable.
I passed my bike test here in the UK a year ago, at the age of 58. First thing I did was buy a Himalayan 411, and have done 7000 miles in 12 months. I absolutely love it….its a keeper 😊
My current motorcycle is a 2022 HD Iron 883. I love it and it is plenty of power for me. Now... I'm picking up my 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 next week (July 2024). It's brand new- 10 miles. I've noticed that younger adults may like the RE Himalayan, but aren't very content with it. The older ones - I'm 54 - love the Himalayan. I'll keep my 883, but I'm very happy to get my Himalayan. I do like the HD Pan American, but it's overpriced (my opinion), has lots of plastic and I'm not in a hurry. I like saving money on gas. If I ever buy a Pan American, it will have to be used and half the price of new. But... You'll love your HDPA and you won't be disappointed.
The Pan America is incredible! I owned one for a short time, but hit a time when I needed to do some work on my house and rather than borrowing to fix the house, I sold the Pan Am. I will get one again sometime, I hope.
No judgement , buy and ride what you like , but first time on a somewhat rough trail you're going to feel that extra 130 pounds the HD has over the Enfield . Of course the piston won't be swapping ends in the cylinder at highway speeds like the Himalayan . I started my MC career at 12 with a lightweight , went bigger and bigger through the decades , and now in my decrepit old age am back to small and light , cruisin' at 65 just as good as 100 plus used to be .😄 Just enjoy your ride , your way , if you ride what and as others think you should , you're doing it wrong .
I Loved and miss mine everyday.. But got a 1200C Sportster and love it too.. Was a stupendous first bike and am thankful for the memories. If she was the new Himalayan I would still have her… Would have been perfect.
I think that means the Himi did its job! Nothing wrong with starting on a smaller bike to build confidence and skills and now she'll go on to help someone else.
I completely understand why you're moving up from the Himi. As you become more experienced, it's totally natural to move up towards something more capable. Seems like common sense to me...
I've been able to do the Royal Enfield demos the past two seasons. I think they're a good value. Very mechanically simple motorcycles, so very easy to maintain yourself. Sometimes less is more. I was pretty impressed with the new Shotgun 650 this year.
Tractor, the Hemmi. Naw. Cool and fun bike yes, tractor is the Yamaha T-Dub 200. I got one a tractor, also have a RE Super Meteor 650. Love the Royal Enfield line. Great videos. Keep them coming.
Everything has its time and we part. When its right we know it, no point hanging on to things no longer needed. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Pan Am. ATB.
I kind of compromised I just got two Kawasaki x300 versys gf cried when the BMW 310 GS went, the Harley Iron 883 will go soon and the tracer 7 GT will replace it.(the account said maybe 🤔) we both are happy that you have upgraded Welcome to the Dirt side👍🏻
I like that little bike, but i love the panamerica (maybe one day)... you might not remember me but we talked at farrow during one of their bike shows (i was working in Ohio from Indiana).. update I took my BRC (Indiana) and just purchased my Z500... Ride safe out there !!
I'm glad you enjoyed the motorcycle. Although it seems that your goal was to graduate to a Pan Am, I wonder if you would have kept the newer version of the Himalayan a bit longer (it was not available at the time, of course). The new bike has a significantly more powerful (water cooled) engine and weighs about the same. I think that the new Himalayan has graduated into a a small all-rounder that can now deal with US highways whereas, as you discovered, the older version was a bit too anemic.
Good video, I just found you on you tube. I have been going through your videos and I see you are fairly new to campers. I can answer most all of your questions about anything campers. As a matter of fact, I live fairly close to you and used to work at one of the local camper dealerships. Feel free to contact me if you wish. I do enjoy your content and have subscribed. BTW, I sure miss Ole Man Ronin!
Got a kick out the video title (you might get mad) I'm was thinking people don't marry motorcycles. At some point in life we will sell or get rid of our motorcycle.
I don't get it. You say you want to do some light dirt, but you keep selling the dirt friendly bikes. The Pan America is a big, heavy bike that is not going to make you feel any more comfortable off road. It'll be fine on easy dirt and can take a pack load like a sherpa (see the himma reference I made there?), which is useful. But that's about it.
@@HerTwoWheels It's widely known that lighter bikes are easier to manage off road. But hey, suit yourself. Personally, I think your off road anxiety is due to lack of seat time. If the Pan America helps you get past that, awesome.
Maybe so, but for a rider accustomed to riding 800lbs baggers, a light bike will feel “squirrelly”. I went through this myself, riding big, heavy cruisers and baggers for close to a decade and then hopping on an enduro or a smaller ADV bike. I felt like I forgot how to ride because the weight difference was off putting… I hopped onto my friend’s “full size ADV” and what a difference. I immediately felt more comfortable and confident when hitting the more challenging trails.
Everyone loves the 411 himalayan until they get on the highway and then realize its a dog. The KTM 390 adv runs circles around it and will do 75mph all day long at 6500 rpm. And is sub 400 lbs to boot. A 500 + lb adv is not a dirt bike. Be careful where you take the PA.
I use my Himalayan 411 on the motorway here in the UK all the time. It’ll cruise at 70-75 all day long, no problem, and will reach 85. No problem overtaking either.
That's the whole point of the Himi. Getting folks offroad and getting you hooked. Then you move up to bigger bikes. Did the same thing with my KLR
Hey it's that guy rolling deep in the Vmax!
😄
No point on moving on to a bigger bike after riding it twice

That pan america is heavy too. It's much harder to pick up a bike on dirt or gravel. The himi will be easier to pick up.

You are totally correct. It's not always about the biggest and baddest. Some people gotta learn the hard way.
Makes sense once you got your Pan Am. She'll be missed, but I'm glad she provided you a fun skillset for the future!
Congrats on all that you and Jordan have accomplished in passing on the passion for being on two wheels! So cool!
Thanks so much!!
Sounds like you are doing the right things Jess. I need to liquidate my collection, I'm procrastinating.....

Look how clear those mirrors are! That’s smooth, especially for a bike with knobbies.
Maybe in the camera… but not to my eyeballs 😂😂😂
Himmy content was cool! Looking forward to see how you build the skills up on the Pan Am

Your algorithm is your problem 😂😂😂 i made PLENTY of videos with this himi. Take a scroll back if you must.
So long Toph, I'm sure your new home will open up new adventures for you😢
If you ever want to purge the superglide I would love to have it. I guarantee it will get ridden a lot.
Preorders for the new Himmy are currently open for North America. I think it closes halfway into August.
Hope to see them on the road!!
Thanks jess
Not a lot us can afford to have 50k in motorcycles in our garage.
There’s a LOT of things out there that some people have that I will never achieve. It’s not a competition. Do what brings YOU joy.
If I knew you would deliver, I would have bought it for my son. 😉
The new Himi looks promising
Have you considered the 500 exc-f / fe501s ? Light, fast and fun. Unless you’re doing crazy miles on road.
I’m usually only doing “crazy miles” on the road 😅
I was thinking it would be a great first bike for your sister.
Maybe one day! When she’s ready!
Awesome bike for off-road
Smaller bikes are much more fun and capable off road. Sure, big bikes can do go off road, but the fun factor decreases, and limitations increases.
How many miles did you ride it before you sold the bike?
those little things will get to speed, it just takes awhile to get there lol
What’s next to get sold the Dyna or the BMW R18 ?
it is considered as heavy according to Indian standards
What you think about new Himalayan 450?
sometimes you have to make decisions. harley pan American nice.

More experienced riders know that a lighter less powerful bike is your best option for off road.
Not arguing that. But i don’t do all my riding “off road” I’m a touring rider.
I'm sure someone will get a lot of mileage and joy.
