Those waxworks are not bad. I am impressed.
The hand gestures of the lady in the window *may* be confused for the other longest line of work lol!
What a cool museum!! I could use a prescription for whiskey, hahaha!
You’re always welcome in the C-Port, Jacob!!! Thanks for stopping by!
I would probably fall for a wooden gun at night.
Prohibition never works; people will always find a way!
YEP. MOBSTERS RAN SPEAKEASIES AND THE POLICE WERE PAID BY THEM TO KEEP QUIET
Yep. Laws and locks only keep honest people honest. People are going to do what they want to do. How's that war on drugs going?
@@hunhun23 $$$$$ always talks!!
Kinda like the war on drugs...
@@TylerTheBoss and how the USA wants to ban vaping! not as much $$$ in it as cigarettes! (And it is waaaay less harmful!) Go figure?!?
That’s a neat place. I like the updated old timey pandemic signs.
Carrie Nation called her "remodeling" of a bar a "hatchetation". When she was charged with damaging a property she replied, " I didn't damage it, I destroyed it!" Don't mess with her.
I need to get to Savannah! So many cool museums and stuff.
That virtual moonshiner is Tim Smith of Climax Moonshine. Climax VA and also a main character on the show "Moonshiners"
"starring that guy" lol
lol i had to laugh at that one while showing his name not quickly lol
I don't drink, but you can't deprive someone of beer.
I when here with my parents when I was like 12. And to this day its still one of the coolest museum I've ever been to!
Welcome back to Savannah Jacob!
Can’t beat a good bottle of beer, cheers my dears 🤪😜🤣 x
Like your going to go to a bar and have bread after a hard work day. Sounds like a great way to hang out with people.
Beer is piss water. It's nasty.
@@cindythecatwoman1601 you're*
@@englishatheart That’s your opinion, maybe your mouth is bitter and full of nastiness 😁👍🏻
@@englishatheart Do you ever leave a nice comment to anyone why does it always have to be hateful
"Hey, give me a chug of that liquor!" 🤣🤣 I'm still laughing at this.
My favorite place in the world!!
My laugh for the night-"What a fun guy"!
They stopped producing anything over the $100 bill all the way back in 1969
They stopped printing them in 1946. 1969 is when they finally recalled them and pulled them out of circulation.
@@bennelson8429 👍
The high denomination bills were used for bank to bank transfers -- they are obsolete, now that transfers of that type are done electronically. Although the bills were recalled, a few are in the hands of collectors, and they're still legal tender. The Horseshoe Casino in downtown Vegas once had a display of one million dollars, which used a number of the 10,000 bills.
Watching replay. Thankyou ❤️
Oh...also, those creepy monkey compacts are from the 1920s. A German company called Schuco used to make them.
Yep, Jacob. Not too far from where you live in NC those old boys including the legendary Junior Johnson were the ones that started Stock Car racing.
Just watched your video while drinking Tequila out of my souvenir shot glass from the museum! Thanks for the memory.
Love you Jacob! 💗🕯️🌨️
The intro to your videos never get old awesome video jacob 👍
Very interesting! Thank you for the video! 👍
The good old day's man LOL
Days* Apostrophes aren't used to make plurals.
Interesting museum! I want to go lol! I love History. This sounds like a good museum. I didn't know some of this stuff. Learn something new every day. Well, thanks for sharing! Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
Hope you had a drink at the bar inside!
Thanks for another great video and have a great day.
There is actually a real necessity for 'medical' alcohol. If someone is deeply addicted to alcohol, not having some can be fatal. No joke.
and many medications of the day were heavily alcohol based some were even laced with lead and cocaine just to "help with the pain" alcohol too was one of the first anesthetics literally when they had to do surgery (or get bullets out or reset a broken bone/ amputate ) they would be knocked out with booze or chloraform long before rhyphonol or proper anesthetic was introduced
Very Cool Jacob looks like Fun
As long as I’ve lived in Savannah I never been here! Great video and hope you enjoyed the city!
my favorite is the hiding a flask inside a bible trick
not surprised moonshine is what lead to nascar tho
Love this video all the products the beer companies made , brilliant. This could be linked to how NASCAR started.Stay safe 🇺🇸🇬🇧😷👍
14:21 OMG they capped off his "gun moll" too ... ouch : )
I hate beer but enjoy a glass of wine now and then. My maternal great grandparents during prohibition used to make dandeloin wine in their bathtub I've been told to sell.
The time you visited with Adam the Woo a few years back is absolutely hilarious 😆
I live in Savannah and it is really interesting with all of the museums and historic places
Watching a video on prohibition almost seems like a guilty pleasure! 😄
Hope you enjoyed City Market
thanks, that was fun!
Thanks for the video, learn some things
Good museum. Nice job taking us through, and we even got to see the exit thru the gift shop part 👍😄
They should build a prohibition meuseum for marijana once its federally legal.
Welcome to CANADA...
Jacob the carpetbagger, you should Oatland island wildlife center zoo in savannah, Georgia
These videos are good to chill in bed and be amazed at what the museums have to show us
That was a very interesting museum. Thank you so much.
Look at that knocker!
Thanks Jacob. Another interesting spot.
Is that a drunk Jean-Luc Picard in the thumbnail?
So interesting. Coming from the Netherlands. Where alcohol and weed is so normal. And never been "dry" so far i know. (If im wrong tell me about it)
Not to mention you don't have to be 21 to drink (unlike here, where you can sign up to kill/die at 18 but can't drink until 21).
@@englishatheart when i grew up. It was 16 years old and not 18 or 21 for alcohol.
@@edith3715 I think it's 16 in most places other than the US.
@@englishatheart in the old days it was 16 now its changed to 18.
Tim Smith is that guys name after the popcorn poster
Great video!! Thank you for sharing with us!
Cheers 🍻 with 🍺
Hi Jacob awesome vlog at the Prohibition museum. Stay well and safe 👍🏻😺
Cool museum! As it happens, Prohibition took a particular toll on my family. I think it was my paternal great-great grandfather that had a brewery in Birmingham's Southside that was quite successful. Then Prohibition happened, and he had to shut it down. Today, the city block where the brewery once stood is part of the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and/or its associated hospital.
ironic a oversimplified prohibition vid on my up next tab
Love your channel
I have one of those hatchet pins in my oddity collection
Thanks Jacob!
10:16 Hmmmm, I’m surprised “going to see the blind pig/ seeing the blind tiger”or something similar never became a euphemism to go on to confuse later generations. I guess it wasn’t widespread and just didn’t catch on.
7:16 : Anybody else getting a strong Clockwork Orange vibe?
my exact thought
The us government stopped printing 500 and 1000 dollar bills sometime in the 40's
No way!!!! I was at this museum yesterday.
Great video! There are still 8 towns here in massachusetts that alcohol is illegal!
It’s funny : while watching an episode of the simpsons were homer and marge go in a drinking spree and homer always finds inspiration from the good book which he makes into a drink
Merry Christmas carpet! Here's to a dry one? Merry Christmas to Crystal and anna!🤗
If you mean his wife, her name is Christy (or however you spell hers). I don't think it's short for Crystal, but I could be wrong.
The history of how the Mob opposed the KKK during prohibition was an incredibly strange but interesting story.
The alcohol mainly the liquors they illegally made during Prohibition was actually in most cases stronger than what could be bought in stores before the prohibition act
My Father in Law made money running booze during those times from Canada to the US. Interesting times. Loved the museum. Keep Safe ❤ Keep Well❤
"Disappearances" was an intriguing, somewhat haunting movie released in 2006, starring Kris Kristofferson as a prohibition-era, French-Canadian bootlegger conducting clandestine border-crossings w/his son. I 1st viewed it at that year's American Indian Film Festival in S.F.
Bottoms up! Glug, glug, glug!
alwats good to see ya back jacob and love ya adventures all the way from new zealand here :)
The Covid signs were extremely clever. Maybe they ought to put those out into the world. Anyway I'll definitely have to check this museum out sometime.
I’d expect a prohibition museum to be in Chicago
Bruh. I was JUST there 😳🤣
I loved this tour, thank you so much! Happy new year!
Question. Have you ever been to europe? Yes.. where? And no. I can give some "secret" tips
He's said before no he hasn't and has no intention to at the moment until he's seen everything in the US
omg i went here on a field trip in 8th grade 💀
I always love your videos! Keep doing what you’re doing bro, sharing American history in the most interesting way!
As someone who lives here i never knew this place was even a thing lmao
The figure at 17:01 looks like Benicio DelToro
Happy New Year🍻
A Blessed 2021 to You & Yours - Cheers! Just be sure to not let the hootch-hating Hatchet-Lady tend bar at your NYE party, if hosted somewhere other than the ol' homestead & you'll be wanting your deposit back!
Al Capone “ I don’t even know what street Canada on”
My Grandmother ended up spending her wedding night in jail because of Prohibition. If anything was to come of this, it should have taught people that you cannot force morals down other's throats. If you have to for force "enlightenment" on someone, then you haven't Enlightened them at all.
Crazy how this applies today, to so many things. We should have learned from history, instead we are just repeating it.
Bruh I think we were in Savannah at the same time omg
Earliest ever!!
Yes my dad got a $1000 bill in the 50s just to have it and I'm sure he broke it soon after.
What?
this must be a newer museum
Did you go to Bonaventure cemetery where bird girl was before the museum!
Fun fact, Rhode Island never ratified prohibition.
I imagine nobody mentions all the millionaires starting up companies like Standard Oil. If Americams (mostly rural) could make their own alcohol at home from left over crops they wouldn't have to get their fuel for all the new gas driven equipment they were bring pushed to buy from the gas station.
The dead gangster couple in the car are Bonnie and Clyde
Probably not the best thing to watch before trying to complete a dry January...
Have you been partaking in some Alchahol yourself today? ???
Lol now we Beer bread....
The US stopped printing 1000 bills quite some time ago.
I…I don’t think the lady at 10:13 was just looking for customer to come into the bar
Billy Sunday was a MLB outfielder before turning into an evangelist.
According to Billy Sunday, Savannah is the wickedest city in the world. Clearly, this guy has never been to Davenport. :P
