I'm also pretty sure this wasn't a live broadcast but an edited concert. That means the director and editor also recognized how amazing this was and left it in the cut on purpose.
It's not much of a fail to me. He instantaneously pulled out a stick, kept the groove, and he 'failed' at such a time where you couldn't even tell by listening.
Would anyone have noticed just by listening? ;-) This is happening all the time at most concerts by any band and no one is noticing it (if a great drummer is sitting behind the set). Not a fail at all - a super gifted and professional musician at work.
He keeps a stash of spares! I’ve seen a few vids where a stick goes flying off and he gets the new one in his hand 1-2 beats later, and you wouldn’t notice if you hadn’t seen the stick spinning away.
Stick even lands on his head on the downbeat ;-) ( actually if you mute the sound and keep time to his movements, the stick hits him on 2and but who's counting? ;-) )
This is not a fail. Look at the recovery.
Totally

He made a mistake then recovered
Pink Floyd "Pompeii" has one too, during "One of These Days", Nick Mason plays a little fill with one hand and grabs the new stick.
And he didn't miss a beat.
Not a fail. That was a drummer keeping a beat going.
Great save.
He kept the drummer code and never lost the groove. Good job!
Max is the consummate professional drummer. Solid as a rock.
Totally agree, a professional SAVE, not a fail - bet most people didn't even notice, he didn't miss a beat and that's what counts :-)
Not a fail. Outdoor show, humidity, rain, anything can contribute to losing a stick. Nice recovery, great drummer
recovered like a boss
***** I see what you did there.
The Mighty Max he never miss a beat
That is mostdefinately NOT a fail - that's THUG LIFE moment.
Didn't even miss a beat....
Pink Floyd "Pompeii" has one too, during "One of These Days", Nick Mason plays a little fill with one hand and grabs the new stick. THUG LIFE BABY
It's not much of a fail to me. He instantaneously pulled out a stick, kept the groove, and he 'failed' at such a time where you couldn't even tell by listening.
That's a win! He didn't miss a beat.
He's dropped them before just like everyone else.
Mighty Max never misses a beat. With or without a stick in his hand.
That recovery is why he's in the E Street Band 😍🎸🎷❤
Not a fail at all
Pretty common and a good save. Max could buy and sell every cheesedork poster here about a thousand times over if not a million times over.
Best Recovery Ever !!
that's not a fail that's class
Max was jus show boatin his talents on a level no other drummers can
Best recovery ever. Only max can pull this off
Happened to all of us , we don’t panic , we keep the groove and pick up another piece of firewood
Close your eyes and listen to where the ‘Fail’ is 👏🏻
If he lost a stick, had no replacement, kicked his floor tom over, yelled at a stagehand and stormed off, THAT would be a fail.
As the drummer in a local bar band, it's good to know even the BEST do that occasionally.
Would anyone have noticed just by listening? ;-)

Looks like he recovered pretty good to me no fail there.
That's not a fail. Happens to every single drummer, pro or not.
That's nothing. Most drummers have dropped the stick but fews can keep the beat and pull ou another stick likabossly
That's because he puts his cymbals waaaaaaaaaay to low! But he did not miss a beat. That's what a total pro is made of!!!
Actually a win in my book.
It happens, sticks fall out of hands. That's why he has a bag full of sticks to his right.
It happens all the time. no biggie.
He keeps a stash of spares! I’ve seen a few vids where a stick goes flying off and he gets the new one in his hand 1-2 beats later, and you wouldn’t notice if you hadn’t seen the stick spinning away.
Pulled it off like a boss!
How in the world is that a fail?? Guy kept in time like a boss.
Listen to the drums without watching the video, sounds great.
what a recovery!
that wasn't a fail he didn't even miss a beat, and you know that he was playing to a click a this concert as well!
Stick even lands on his head on the downbeat ;-) ( actually if you mute the sound and keep time to his movements, the stick hits him on 2and but who's counting? ;-) )
Bomono65 never noticed till now lol
...that´s only just because of the snare in his head!
No fail, calm, poised, kept the beat, amazing
Pink Floyd "Pompeii" has one too, during "One of These Days", Nick Mason plays a little fill with one hand and grabs the new stick.
Yup gotta have extra sticks just in case
If you claim to be a drummer, and this has never happened to you, you're not a real drummer.
Not a fail at all , a great save …
I wish I could fail like this
twice a night for me....
c'mon im sure every drummer has lost their stick bc it hits the bottom of a symbol unexpectedly
Like a guitarist dropping a plectrum, 100% recovery !
it's pretty common
Guys the fail is not that he drop the stick, of course it happens all the time and he recovered well. It's only about the stick landing onto his head!
Still not a fail. He can't control where the stick went. This is a stupid post.
this is not a fail at all. it actually is more common than you think. He never missed a beat
He has like 10 extra sticks ready to go
Whats the name of the song?
+Erik Johnson iknow that now haha
Fail, My ass. Little jealous, are We?
what song it is?
I guess this happens quite often judging by the supply of sticks he has on hand
If you close your eyes the drums sound perfect. Not a beat out of step baby.
It happens to every drummer.
You should change the title to Total Pro & axe FAIL.
shit he hit the cymbal he recovered not a fail
Happens frequently no big deal
I think you're supposed to hit DOWN on the cymbal, not up. Not that I could even do 0.0000000001% as good.
Max #26 in Top 30 richest drummers in the world (35 millions$)
That's because he has a law degree.
Como se llama la cancion?
HA!
I totally missed that.
lol hes still great
Professional
i havent seen you drumm on that show how comes that Batman?
Not a fail
Happened to fucking Lars Ulrich as well
Hardly a "fail"! Drummers ALWAYS have extra sticks at a gig, for this very reason. This is common! Post just wants clicks!
WIN
Sorry, but not a fail. "It happens"- O.J. Simpson
That's True. Fail because it hits his head ;D
Misleading title!
