Very odd that your speedometer fogs up when you put your foot down... lol
not sure if you were being sarcastic or not... but he was censoring the speedo so he cant get done for speeding
Was gonna reply with a troll comment but cbf, yea man i know
@@FNKY767 whoooosh
@@FNKY767 of course he’s being sarcastic
@@elpedro6962 all good
Wouldn’t mind more videos like this ;) These are so chill
I’m on it 👌
Maybe without like you know, the like commentary, cause like it was like monotonous listening to like the like and like.
P
I love these driving POV so much. They give a whole different perspective.
Ahhhh, the sound of rotary, my ear is blessed
"Cooked itself like a rotisserie chicken" had me in stitches. What a description 🤣😂 Sweet car brother, hope to catch you round the M-downs
Hahaha cheers bro 👌 appreciate it
@@ZacBaldy should use the 8 display on the FC commander. Pay attention to injector duty cycle and ignition timing splits (leading and trailing), also coolant temp lol. IAT a good one to watch as well, unless you have meth injection. If IAT too hot you run risk of air fuel igniting on it's own which is real bad.
@@ZacBaldy also don't run the car lower that 1/3 tank if you drive hard enough with low fuel you likely run the fuel pump dry and pop the engine
Don't overthink driving it, I have had my RE Capella for a few years now (using omp) and drive it like any other car, apart from giving it the odd squirt and letting it warm up nicely.
Through the years (think mid '90s) I have had mates with various styles of rotaries and they were never fussy about how they drove them. They mostly had the same issue/s, broken gearbox, diff or axles, never engine issues. Back then of course, those were cheap to replace.
A bridgeported rotary is probably the best sound in the world.
Great to see rotars still on the road. My first car was an RX4 J-Port. Keep it it up mate
Havent watched zab baldy in probably 6-8months and he's changed a lot. Has a rx7 and isn't as shy and quiet as before its a good change.
Good on ya Zacster , all the hard work is done , now it’s time to get out on the roads this winter and enjoy the yourself .
Loved this style of vid man! Need more like it!!
I read somewhere that the lining of the rotor housings are porous, thus retaining quite a bit of oil when you're not directly injecting it via. pre-mixed fuel or the OMP.
... I daily an 8 and have owned an FD for quite a few years, always engine braked without issues. /shrug
would you recommend premixing even when you have an omp
@@Burchie_ 100%, .5 oz per gallon if I'm rocking an OMP. Extra lubrication, some factory OMPs suck (s1 RX8) plus you can't easily tell if it's not functioning until it's too late, might save you an engine.
Haven't watched the channel in awhile. It's great to see it running so well mate, congrats 👍 definitely do more of these POV vids, maybe do a run up the coast and open her up abit 🤙
Ur right about us Subaru drivers we show love to each other when passing by little waves are enough to put a smile on most drivers
Would love more of these POV videos, really enjoy them🔥
Bro you need the spoiler to finish the initial D look !
Yes engine braking is fine. DRIVE it like a normal car. Had rotaries for 30yr.. still race one today.
Dude I would love to see this RX-7 beast in person honestly looks amazing, is my dream car as well. Have lots questions about the car would be dope to go for a cruise with u. Live in griffin saw u legit drive past my house. Anyways good vid bud keep up the content
When i first watched this video i thought cruising near Brisbane City. Then it turns out you literally drove 4 mins near to where i live hahaha near costco. i subbed for sure!
Love it man, there's a few fds in town here they seem to drive pretty normal hope this helps
This makes me miss my fd…. Awesome ride!
Oh and subbed mate, happy to support a fellow Queenslander!
That car is GORGEOUS
Sounds so good!
The car sounds so nice.
Love the updates on the RX7 and thecolor choice is spot on Zac, well done 👍
this is my meditation music
in love with this car 😍
Nice vid good to hear about how RX7 drives, I hope to drive one in the future always wonder how it feels compared to 2017MY GT86 handling and speed comparison.
Handling is similar, power the 86 are dog slow even a Camry will our drag it
She’s back
love to see you driving her properly (time 5.55)
Zac mate yellow looks good on your Rx7 👍👍
Rotary life is rebuilds and side of the road park ups waiting for parts. Fun when they run. What people say about breaking them is some what true but then again you can break any engine in a heart beat if you wanted to.
goddam that rx7 sounds good as hell. keep it up man
the fd in that yellow is just so nice looking.
Thats the nicest rx7 ive ever seen
As long as OMP is in the car, should be no problem engine *braking*.
yeah, don't remove OMP and premix only, that then means you shouldn't engine brake (unless decel fuel cut is disabled, which has it's own issues), but yeah with OMP, no worries.
綺麗でいい音してる、やっぱりロータリーは最高や
Nice dude didn’t know you worked in North Lakes right round the corner from mine haha need to come see you on smoko break
The first thing I picked up on this video was your lack of engine braking, I find myself doing the same with mine, purely for the fact that, as we know, rotors love a drink and in combination with pre mix, you sort of think to yourself, if I engine brake, I'll starve the engine of lubrication! Who knows for sure, I'm yet to find out!
Cheers for sharing mate...
that's why it's (almost) always a better idea to keep the OMP and only premix a bit on top of that if necissary - sure do a OMP seperate reservoir mod if you like, but keep the OMP, mazda didn't put it there for no reason that's for sure
didnt know you worked in north lakes legit right round the corner from mine. beautiful rx7
I'm a simple man. I see a cruise video with a RX7, I put my headphones on max volume xD
I cant wait till im old enough to drive one
Gosh its like the vibrations from the rotary blurs out the cluster when it makes some noise haha.
Crazzzzzy right 😅
If you have the factory OMP still connected, you're fine. If you're still worried just add 100ml of 2 stroke oil to a full tank. If you're STILL worried, just blip the throttle on the longer engine brakes
I owned a RX4 sedan in NZ for years and Rotary's are the BEST, you can drive them like a normal car but, in saying that there is things you can do with a rotary you ca not do with a conventional car. Use your motor to aid in your braking as it wont do any damage to your car ( I used to use the compression of my motor for braking and as a normal part of driving as i did my brakes, also you can drive along like you can in any other car however if you need to access the power of the car get used to dropping down to lower gears and revving it up. When you have your rotary staged up and you get that wah wah wah sound like you have a lumpy cam you will need to find the rev as to drive along on the Wah wah wah will make the ride uncomfortable. keep in mind these motors on a bench blow up at around 32000 revs, use the power. These cars loved to be driven and love to be worked, driving like a grandad will create more issues than giving it the gas.
I would love to own another rotary, they are the best!!!
Hope this helps mate
watching this video and seeing that you work down the road from my gym is awesome hahahaha, i'll be looking out for ya next time im around in my MX5! :)
Rx-8 here😎
My dream car my lord that's nice ahhhh 😍😍
Sick car mate I was planning to get another one
Bri the man has a RX7 AND a R33. Living the dream bro :)
isnt that an r32
I deciphered the lovely braps and they translate to "Zac. I. Need. An. RE. Amemiya. Wide. Body. Kit. Now". Do it Zac do it!
love the car zac
Great video. Yeah on the fence about engine breaking but when I get my next rota I will engine breaking fo sho
Nice wheels bro 👌 fav car also, rx7 Aspec/Panspeed
Hey bro that was me in that Subaru !!
Would be very keen to be in your video again !!
I saw u driving the other day it was sick
Gonna be a good one ☝️
dis reminds me of my old rx8 🥺🥺🥺
hi,
how is it the idling? can see u keep on free gear ,cause im having same set up like your i think,v mount bridge port power fc , the time traffic jam not that comfort to drive, any idea to settle it? by the way nice video really ...
i hope one day i see u driving around northlakes omg aha would be a dream to meet u and see the fd
Bro i live near you because i see that ikea everytime i come home lmao
Taff fan club unite
See you running PowerFC. Any recommend power fc tuner in Bris or SE Qld?
More vids like this pls 🤩
Amazing car. Is that an obd gauge on the right? Which one is it?
you gonna go single turbo setup eventually or keep the twin setup? otherwise nice car man very lucky.
You forgot to give it a chop under the bridge and a lazy 2nd gear at the port 👍🏼
10:43 f6 next car? I mean they are slowly starting to come down again! Sounds mint mate, good to see you happy with the fd and enjoying it
I live really close to you, hopefully I will see it one day!
What's it like to drive an rx7? wish I could have a go at driving one someday. I have my own jdm but still have a few on my bucket list to have the experience of driving.
My dream car💛
RX7 is my dream car too..
but hard to find a left wheel drive and too expensive for me..
the body shape is a first reason what i love..
the turbo sound so sick of me..haha..
why yours no wing..?
You just deeply press the clutch
Congrats for the oil👍👍👍😂😂😂
You need to add some custom number plates on the rx7 it will look sick!
beauty
Your literally around the corner from me. Wouldn’t mind a catchup and a perv on the 7 🤤
Man it would be hard to stop driving this thing!
damn, a skyline and a rx7, pretty crazy
Hi zack I love the videos
Thanks Falcon 👌 appreciate it bro!
Engine braking doesn't harm the engine. The engine doesn't have any fuel going through it during engine brake, it also doesn't have spark. It's basically an over sized loud ass air pump during that phase, that's it. It's also why it will shoot fire from the exhaust. Rich air fuel mixture during boost load leaves unburned fuel in the exhaust system, when you lift throttle the engine pumps a ton of clean air through which will after burn in the exhaust with the previously mentioned unburned fuel
I think there were some issues with engine braking on rotaries specifically causing oil starvation? Something to do with how the seals need lubrication from the premix and fuel cutoff reduces it? Correct me if I'm wrong though
@@BigBabo as far as I know you're correct in your thinking/theory. The oil metering pump is designed to aid in lube/cooling by squirting oil inside the combustion chamber, the issue lies with the omp is a part you would never know has failed. Until one day the engine has no compression. Most people tend to remove and block off the omp system and use premix in the fuel instead as a preventative measure. Lifting out of the throttle and coasting back down from redline potentially could accelerate apex seal wear since there is a lack of fuel/premix going through the engine, but it seems like a low stress moment where the motor is free spinning and combustion isn't happening. How bad this engine brake phase is unknown to an extent, pre mix helps cuz it doesn't combust. Personally I've not known of anyone who lost compression because of engine braking.
@@dukedub Ah I see, thanks for the explanation! Could the potential for seal degradation be worsened if you were to downshift into higher RPM's compared to the mid-ranges, or is the difference between free-spinning at 7k and 4k negligible?
You don't protect your identity while driving a dandelion orange rotary with a loud exhaust. And a big tip, download a speeding app. Waze? Saved my ass in my car
the brap brap brap makes me so happy
Why does it make that noise?
@@leojohnwayne1422 im probably a bit late to comment on this, but the reason why it makes that noise is because he ported the engine. There's lots of ways to port the engine, the one that gives it that brap noise is for the most part a brideport. You can look up what a brigdeport is:)
Resting your hand on the stick does add wear, something more concerning than engine breaking I believe. Nice video
Much better bro
do you hold the clutch in when you come to a complete stop?
it can handle gentle engine breaking but not like you cruise in 5th on highway then shove 3rd in there and not put a bit gas on it ....
the way you're shifting has given me a lot of pain
Hello i am from puerto rico i like rotarys in puerto rico loved rotarys
gotta love sitting behind people going 20ks slower then the speed limit
Where did you get the rims at? I need it for the rx-8
Plz give me advice on where you got ittt
plzzzzz
Men I like that sounds 😎
That is one nice chook cooker!
My dream is to drive one of these
What day was that? You drive past my work I'm sure i heard it
POV view like many of my vids . Good work
Yours are better because its a GTS ;)
The Subi lads aren't gonna wave back, but I would. I have a yellow RX8. I live on the Northside, so we might even cross paths.
And yes, you can totally engine brake. Watch some Best Motoring vids bro. So long as the engine has a metering pump, engine braking is fine. If you only ran premix it may be a problem because the fuel injectors are completely shut off during deceleration.
What do you do for a living bro? Inspire me
yessssss
i live so close to this man only just realised 😅
