This is the video I've wanted for so long. The different regional playstyles are super interesting, and it's really awesome that the different communities are overcoming the language barrier to share their gameplay with the entire community. The Eastern playstyle and ruleset reminds me a lot of the Western scene a few years ago. Even with all the nerfs, Self-Care has never been a terrible pick for comp settings. Always having the ability to heal for a rescue when other players can't can be really clutch, with not much the killer can do if comms are good. It's only pub matches where it's really terrible; people too eager to use it all the time, worse comms, etc. I think they will likely move slightly more towards Western playstyle over time, just because it's had a longer time to mature and develop. But I'm pretty sure there will always be big differences in both scenes due to the culture. Hit and run is definitely viable, just not as reliable as tunneling when there aren't perk restrictions.
As someone who has played on EU, NAE, NAW, SA and Japanese servers, the playstyle you see in Japan and other asian servers is truly unique from any other region. Its really not comparable. I can see why Japan does those rules. The difference between the enjoyment you get from watching is crazy. Obviously both blights are skilled but it's so much more fun watching a blight win because of their ACTUAL skill of the killer rather than tunnelling one person out instantly so it's a 1v3.
I agree. Which is why it is important to introduce an offering that allows you to mori one survivor at the start of the match. It would save up on the awkward back-and-forth and skip straight to the actual game as intended
I think western players can learn something here. Not tunneling even works in competitive. So the sweatfest situation we are currently in is completely unnecessary and a skill issue after all
You're saying all western killers have a skill issue compared to Japanese players? They're both skillful and have adapted different playstyles, allowing tunneling and camping in my opinion allows more room for team work
xeno made a mistake on his build. DMS provided not enough value to carry pain res/grim embrace tunnel. he needed deadlock to slow down gen-rush. I think it is because his build has pop goes weasel as 4th slot but he wasn't able to select it which messed up his 3 gen comeback possibility due to not being able to regress gens.
@@Ro-GhostI think it is more of a tru3 mindset within the Western community that the og comment poster is referring to. Many people say that tunneling and camping is necessary against strong teams. But that "justification" usually is nothing but copium. Most people do not go against comp swfs and most people are not as good as comp killers. They just copy paste the most skill-less aspects and than use the lame ass "but it is necessary......" as an excuse. Obviously Western comp players are skilled but also got used to tunneling and camping gameplay. (Funnily enough not 100% of the time though because even Western comp players have already shown that it isn't actually necessary) The Japanese playstile is definitly more interactive and overall more fun. But both comp scenes have insanely skilled comp players no doubt. It is just a funny situation that after years of hearing "tunneling and camping is necessary if you wanna win" bs the Japanese comp player come in like "watch me".
I've had the pleasure of playing on US, Europe, Oceania, and Asia servers. It is definitely a unique, and often times tilting, experience to play in Asia, but the metas are so interesting to come across
May be I don't understand something, but why the hell did the survs drop pallets against Legion with frenzy (in the game with Japaneese Legion)? It looks like their main mistake and the reason why they lost. They just wasted pallets and took their downs... Anyway I didn't even suppose that yellow addon can be so strong, I'm definitely going to try this build out.
I love that every game I ever play I end up using the same techniques from the Japanese play styles without ever watching them. Been 4 games now it’s fell into this.
Honestly this video is why I love dbd content people all over the world who loves to play the same game as me and how they play it is always interesting
It's very interesting that the meta in japan is not to tunnel, and the general consensus that the game counts on hooks and not kills. Although makes sense they lost more games since tunneling and controling a generator area is the better strategy in general, playing more macro and based on pressure is more challenging. edit: well also Xeno is the best

I already said that in the other vid from comp dbd
I really love the playstyle of the Japanese legion
It's so nice and refreshing seeing a legion doing such a good job and pressuring down top surv like this
Actually let me to play legion again, which I kinda gave up even tho they were my main and I still love them the most (especially playstyle, music and cosmetic)
Deeply respect the Japanese players for showing the power of Etched Ruler Legion and Gift of Pain as a perk. Two of my favorite playstyles that don't see enough use.
I been using legion stealth build for years. That add on is so good. Nice to see a pro use it as well
It's 1AM but I gotta watch thissss, work tomorrow is less important than EAST vs WEST! Thanks Hens!
JP servers must be so fun to play. Wow I love how they play without tunneling, it’s nice to see different strategies to win
殺人鬼キツすぎて全然楽しくないよ
I don't usually watch comp games, I just watched the 2 Legion games and was very very interesting I just can't wait to watch the whole thing!
whats really interesting about the japanese meta is games in general is since youtube and twitch arent nearly as big over there in comparison to billie billie they also dont see the western rules or meta really at all they make their own unique rulesets and make their own metas completely independent from the entire rest of the world
As a Selfish Care with Bot Know Gamer that only self heals when appropriate .... it's nice to see the combo used in a comp play setting..... show casing that self care is not a throwing perk if used correctly.
A perk that makes it so survivors can't interact with totems until one generator is complete actually seems pretty cool and reasonably balanced.
hex:undying is that perk. hexes are meant to be high risk where you can lose them in first 30 second of the match.
@@dodang_9147 so why not make another perk to make the risk a bit less high in exchange for some guaranteed early game value? undying can work but still can be done fast, i think a perk to enforce the no cleansing before first gen rule would be neat
@@beesus1412 unless your extremely unlucky, the totem is likely to survive. they do not want to remove the risk of totems. they will only invent perk to reduce risk but never entirely remove it. you can argue that undying is too weak as it used to transfer hexes multiple times but this was deemed too strong. the closest thing they would buff as totem-blocking perk is thrill of the hunt. maybe it blocks all hex totems except itself. sure you could give the condition of it only doing that for first gen. that is closest thing you'll get to the perk.
@@dodang_9147 That would just make thrill a better undying, and undying feels like it's in a good spot at the moment.
@@Aquilenne that's the problem with his perk. Not being able to cleanse a totem is power-creeping undying. it is been a common request to make a perk that makes hex totems appear as dull. this is so that survivors don't cleanse the totem right at the start but that is part of risk of what hexes are suppose to be. either way, i think Japanese rule is just there so that killer gets a strong regression perk without doing anything. it is to balance low mobility killer that suck at using pop.
Right off the bat this was a dope idea. Been thinking about it myself sometimes. AWESOME.
That bump logic blight was insane wtf
Amazing work from everyone. I have to say these outside the box events/showcases are so well done! Would love to see Asian teams in an invitational!
I don't know why I was not subscribed to your channel yet but after this video there i no way I'm gonna risk to lose more of your content
Nice job everyone for making the video possible
casually destroying elysium without hugtech, damn
After seeing the japanese Blight, I think Blight will be fine even without Hug-tech after the update.
@hens ty for the content..dont think that will avoid killers in EU to Tunnel out weak survs but maybe the good killers will change there gameplay...keep up the good work..
Tournaments with different set of rules and different stuff going on each time would be amazing.
Love the japanese rules and playstyle! Winning by skill and game sense, not only by perks, tunneling and camping. Mad respect for that, especcially the Legion game was insane!
Winning by skill and game sense is western my guy not Japanese
@@SphinxOfKairoall I see from westeners is camping and tunneling. This is the first time I see a competitive game thats actually entertaining and skillful.
@@poiint5354 We've gone from Killers versus Survivors us versus them to East/West killer/survivor us vs them.
@@XLamonteCoxX on god bro dbd community is cooked ppl js wna argue to argue 😭😭😭
"Winning not only by perks" japanese legion playstyle wouldnt have worked without thana and ruin lmaoo, stop making a strawman bro
This was really well made and super respectful to the differences in metas
Lmao @ the children getting offended and arguing about which side is better.
This was super interesting and fun to watch, ty Hens!
Can I just say this quite unrelated but the otz and hens are such great commentators. I don't even play this game and I can understand everything happening in the game. Great work y'all!
I wonder if that Legion match with Thanatophobia woulda gone the same on a different map
Seeing Self-Care actually being used in a good way is surprising
Holy pallet town that gideon. 2 safe pallets in a corner tile next to another 2 safe pallets in the rack pile
Hooks over stages adds an entirely new level of strategy to competitive play. Choosing not to rescue actually denies the killer points. Intriguing.
Hi Hens i am a German Blight main who understood that the hugtech is basically 70% show bump logic is as u saw it extremely strong
Aber cool das du solche showcases überhaupt machst
I can see why Japan does those rules. The difference between the enjoyment you get from watching is crazy. Obviously both blights are skilled but it's so much more fun watching a blight win because of their ACTUAL skill of the killer rather than tunnelling one person out instantly so it's a 1v3.
I agree.
Which is why it is important to introduce an offering that allows you to mori one survivor at the start of the match.
It would save up on the awkward back-and-forth and skip straight to the actual game as intended
This was a perfect showcase of what the new blight will look like, much stronger but less fun.
what i got from this, killers don't have to tunnel if you make totems unable to be cleansed instantly? great vid guys
(Funnily enough not 100% of the time though because even Western comp players have already shown that it isn't actually necessary)
The Japanese playstile is definitly more interactive and overall more fun.
But both comp scenes have insanely skilled comp players no doubt.
It is just a funny situation that after years of hearing "tunneling and camping is necessary if you wanna win" bs the Japanese comp player come in like "watch me".
@@leonthegamer2839 good take
@@bloxer9563 thx appreciated :)
It would be nice for you guys to find a way to keep the killers view on permanently!
I’d of loved to see both POV’s in some chases 😢
is that nurse playing with a 200 ping disadvantage? Seems like it'd be absolutely crippling for a character as precision heavy as the nurse.
interesting to see making self-care + botany a comeback!
as a relatively new player, this is such a cool video to watch. thank you!
Smart choice to invite Otz to cast. He is really good at yapanese
The Gideon legion match was beautiful
Trying to take this game serious is like trying to take making breakfast serious when your options are coffee or cereal
50:00 in classical dbd fashion, the player with 2 anti tunnel perks that activate after unhooking dies on first hook
Self care is still good if you know when to use it
I actually find it fascinating that the entire concept of meta varies by region
Absolutely funny to see the commentary on the game's like it's WWE wrestling
Self-care proving why it's the best perk 😂
It’s so cool seeing one meta vrs another
As someone that hates using camping and tunnelling as a crutch, I was rooting for the Japanese team the whole time- their performance on gideon especially was incredible
Ich habe fast 4 min gebraucht um zu merken das otz dabei ist. Hahaha top Video wirklich super interessant:)
Bro that self-care game of Gideon was crazy
God otz being delayed is fucking with my mind
I'm curious if that DMS was intentional to make him patrol the gen while Nea worked on the other one and they got to reset.
I wish they had the same ~20 ping at least, because there were certainly moments of ping issue
Incredible competition between East and West.
I remember watching this match live on stream, oh boy this was a crazy one
