Took a little searching but the the pop locking dancer is known as "Coolpockets," his real name is Paul Guzman- Sanchez and there is a documentary about him called The Coolpockets Story. Hope that helps dude. Also I think someone else may have already pointed out the guitar lead in this track was played by Dire Straits frontman, Mark Knopfler.

Mark Knopfler did NOT play on this track. Guitar work was done by Jim Cregan who was a long time collaborator of Stewart's. Cregan co-wrote many hits with Stewart, including "Passion", "Tonight I'm Yours (Don't Hurt Me)", and "Forever Young" (1988). Cregan received thirteen multi-platinum awards for his work with Stewart and together they have thirty recorded songs to their joint credit.

This song hits home with me in so many ways. In June of 1981 a few weeks after H.S. my wife and I took off and got married. We lived and grew up in Ohio. 6 months later this song comes out and we're living in San Antonio. A job offer took us to New Hampshire, Mississippi , California and back to Ohio. Through it all we raised two sons. I worked while my wife attended college. Almost 40 years later, I retired two weeks ago, my wife as a Masters Degree in Education and has been teaching for over 30 years. Life is never easy when you get married young without an advanced degree. We struggled a lot but never gave up and soon we'll be taking off for Phoenix.

Saw Rod Stewart in the 2018 New Orleans Jazz Festival, filling in the spot that was supposed to be Aretha Franklin’s (he played at the Mardis Gras a few months earlier, which is how they got him onboard). He treated it like it was always his. He also gave his background singers and musicians some of the spotlight, one of the singers he dedicated the end of the concert to. The reason why was because it was her last concert with Rod before leaving to follow her dream to become a Broadway star. It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to, maybe even THE best one!

Have you reviewed The First Cut Is The Deepest Jamel? I've seen him live and he sounds the same as he does on the radio.

I consider myself mostly dead on the inside, but this song always makes me wanna dance and cry at the same time. Life comes at you fast and brings a lot of growing pains. This song reminds me of all of mine.

Glad you got to this one, it is a great song! One of my favorites. I also really love the more sentimental song Sailing, but he has so many good songs.
Definitely should check out This Old Heart of Mine ft. Ronald Isley, Some Guys Have All The Luck, Rhythm of My Heart and Forever Young.
I also suggest his love letter to Motown - The Motown Song ft. The Temptations
If you want to hear the sad songs - I Don't Want to Talk About It, Reason to Believe, The First Cut is The Deepest and I Know I'm Losing You.
If you are looking for more nostalgic and sweet - Sailing, Downtown Train, Have I Told You Lately That I Love You, You're in My Heart and You Wear it Well.

Jamal- thank you so much for the hours of enjoyment you have brought me. A lot of memories, a lot of new takes on old favorites, and some rediscovered music from my youth. I would like to request The Communards cover of "Never Can Say Goodbye". They were one of the first (and few) openly gay pop groups. The main instrumentalist is now a Church of England priest, and is on British TV quite a bit, as a panelist on matters great and small, including classical music. They did quite a few covers during their years as pop stars, and this is one of my favorites (along with "Don't Leave Me This Way"). Again, thank you for keeping great music alive.
