40:55 This right here is why Kingdom Hearts will always be my favorite series of all time. Excluding the mobile games, I don’t think any KH game is really “bad” or “terrible” it can be brutal and frustrating for some challenge runs at Level 1 or on Critical. Yet, there still enjoyment to be fond on what mechs really worked and just a overall perspective of these games now post Dark Seeker Saga.
Hi, I speedrun this game on lvl 1! I certainly won't argue it's not the worst lvl 1 run, it's pretty rough, but for those curious there are a few things that can be done to take the edge off. -Drop bonuses are huge. Magic or Attack Gain lvl 2 or 3 make a huge difference in your damage output, especially in early game. Grinding droplets as Riku is really easy once you've beaten The Grid, the turrets in that room before the boss give a lot with the reality shift. -Status effects can go a long way. Slow and Confuse in particular are very useful on mob fights, and Slow is useful for a few boss fights too. It's a lifesaver on Commantis. -You can cheese Spellican if you have enough Collision Magnets. You're welcome. -For all of Riku's final fights, before you drop to fight Xemnas, you can grind so that Riku will have Overcast after the Xemnas fight, grind droplets for Sora to have drop bonuses, and then since the game doesn't give you a chance to drop after Xemnas those drop bonuses go right back to Riku. Only have to grind up that lvl 3 magic or attack boost once for all of final fights. In any case, congrats on the dub! Getting through this game on lvl 1 at all is no small feat, hope KH3 treats you better.
As someone stuck on xemnas this is very helpful. Grinding dp sucks. Also i have seen someone do craptons of damage with ballonga not even balloonra. How does that happen?
The fact that this video gave me more information about the mechanics of how DDD works when it wasn't even the focal point of the video compared to every other video I've seen of this game is just insane. Mad props to beating this game, I would never dream of attempting to do this.
@@PixelHeroViishdrop me nots exist in literally the first world. Dropping is literally not an issue. During my first playthrough I thought it was bland that I could just bypass dropping via. an item. I got so far in Sora's playthrough that Riku was 1 or 2 worlds behind.
@@onthedre Oh I know, but that doesn't make it any less annoying, because now you have to switch out a Command with the item and force all of them to reload, then switch back and wait again. Now with that in mind, okay you use them as often as you need, now the mechanic doesn't matter in the slightest so what's the point of it being there? A mechanic/system can be easy to circumvent but still be annoying
1. Saw a crazy video about a niche kingdom hearts game being beaten at level 1. 2. Find the playlist of the KH games beaten in this method. See that it's chronological. 3. Immediately check if they did a 358/2 days run. 4. Dispair
Here as one of those who has in fact played both TWEWY games. DDD got me interested in Neku and the others, so I wanted to try their original game to see what it was like. I started the original DS version, but ended up fully playing through the Switch version(and also played NEO on my Switch). And in doing so the first game of the two became a genuine contender for my favorite game of all time. It's easily in the top 5 at least. Anyone who has a Switch and the money to spare/some other way of trying the game like borrowing it from someone, I 1000% recommend giving TWEWY a shot.
Literally just watched the whole playlist today. You have my subscription and all my likes, man. Your voiceovers, the pace of the videos, and editing are great. Excited to see how you develop as a creator.
I did this no balloons on 3DS and PS4, and yes Ansem 1 was torture. Young Xehanort on the 3DS was sheer luck due to the fact I needed Spirit Roar and Haste permanently. Oh yeah, one kind of each command too. 37:28 Misconception : you don't need to attack him to get the Reality Shift to appear, it appears on its own for a split second.
Love your kh level 1 series. I have enjoyed watching it while I passively grind riku to max level in kh:recom. I decided to do a platinum trophy run of all the games
If you like re-chain of memories, I humbly suggest playing the original game boy game as well. It’s my favorite version and I think it actually plays a little bit better, even if some fights are harder
So, the reason young xehanort was considered the hardest boss in the game and, at the time it came out on 3ds, one of the hardest non-optional bosses in the series is because on the 3ds version he was just harder, he had an extra bar of hp in both phases of his fight, the reality shift to stop the fight reset was a bit of a mess of clarity on top of the boss already being incredibly hard so it was easy to for your hand to jitter just enough to chuck it and have the fight reset because, oops, it was on a touch screen and hand jitters will ruin you, and because of the extra hp in the second phase it was very common to time out and have to reset the whole fight at least once just to lower his total hp enough for it to be manageable. Add to that the dream eaters not being well known enough on release to know which ones you needed for important skills like once more and second chance or how to farm the fragments needed for the better dream eaters since those were tied to the extremely RNG special portals which could easily take over a hundred drop resets just to see all of them CASUALLY, and it's a perfect storm for making an extremely tough ending boss. Now that the game has been remastered for console and PC, he has less health in both phases, the clarity issues with his reality shift were completely fixed since now his reality shift is the same one as TWTNW, the reality shift isn't on a touch screen so jittery hands can't ruin your attempt, dream eaters are much better known now so it's relatively easy to blitz through to get the best ones with all the skills and spells you want to survive the fight AND the fight isn't taking place on a 4 inch screen so you have just more room to keep up with what he's doing visually. On the 3ds version he is the hardest boss in the game and easily one of the hardest story bosses in the series, but on the remaster he's been toned down a fair bit to the point where the Riku final boss gauntlet of black cloak nightmare and ansem 1 and 2 are way harder, since they have mechanics and health pools that would make them super bosses in the original releases of kh 1 and 2 and are incredibly hard in the remaster AND the original 3ds version, though the black cloak nightmare is the hardest of the 3 on the 3ds since the perfect tracking heartless angel that can't be blocked or jumped, is unavoidable in melee range and heals the boss up to 4 bars of hp is, get this, REALLY HARD to keep track of on a 4 inch screen.
Crazy seeing the strategies others take to clear their own level 1 runs! unfortunately no Ultima or Unbound hijinks, but still a wonderful video and experience overall! Good job. I totally forgot Firaga Burst for my own run.
I played TWEWY for free with a jailbroke iphone and i loved that game. Been waiting for someone to tell me the sequel is good and you may have convinced me brother
The fact that anyone could complete the level 1 run is insane to me, I've never played on critical but I vividly remember doing so little chip damage in mob fights that I thought it was impossible 😂
when i was playing this game, if i had trouble (except for like 2 bosses one being the time stop shit) i realized that i just wasn't abusing flowmotion and commands enough
Fun fact some DDD bosses can stagger, the way stagger works in 3d is like the reverse of revenge value where, after a certain value is reached, the boss will stagger. Xemnas is special as his stagger value is stupidly high and guarding his attacks reset the value. Link attacks and shock/double impact are extremly effective against Xemnas. Do not ever trigger the reality shift against Xemnas, you only harm yourself because xemnas becomes unstaggerable and becomes more aggressive for little benefit. The reason reality shift wasn't appearing is because of the moves you chose to use. It seems moves like sliding crescent (or whatever rikus was called) give reality shifts more often. Fun fact young xehnort can be easily and consistently staggered. All you have to do Is hit him twice with something other than a counter or sleight (dependent on sleight). Also slide roll isn't that good, it turns your dodge roll timing more into parry timing, good to rack up that stagger value if you can time correctly.
I've had Dream Drop Distance since 2012 and it's been the only KH game where I never beat the Critical Mode because I found it so frustrating especially compared to other games and it wasn't until recently I decided to retry the game on Critical Mode and it was better and worse than I remembered. The beginning and especially The World That Never Was are easily the worst parts of the game so I can't even imagine the pain of a level 1 run. That being said, mainly due to Union X's ending I did grow a bigger appreciation for the Dream Eater system and constantly swapping them around was pretty fun to experiment and get more out of it.
I just found another glitch in the game. I was almost about to beat Young Xehanort, when suddenly he and the clock disappeared and I was left on the battlefield with nothing to do but soft reset the game. The worst part is, I FORGOT TO SAVE THE GAME! T-T
Wait a damn minute…. How come I still had my drop gauge as riku in the world that never was????? I always wondered through my playthrough what would happen if I dropped back to sora as he was in super sleep. Idek that that wasn’t supposed to happen.

@myriadbIades On the topic of Xemnas, I think that it's just genuinely awful that the game refuses to stagger boss enemies unless certain spells are used OR if you and your Dream Eaters attacks land around the same time. It takes a lot of planning and personal agency out of the player's hands to make combos dependent on whether or not Gromblo the TRex and Deathbane the Tiger decide to jump the boss or not
