The score was so important to the original Pokemon games it’s unreal. I don’t think people truly grasp how important. They literally captured the very essence of what the games were trying to sell to the intended audience. They amplify everything the player is expected to feel in the particular settings/scenarios they’re in. The emotion I feel listening to these is indescribable. I won’t say I had the worst childhood, as that’d be very selfish, but there were certainly some very troubled parts and times where I felt incredibly alone. These games had a huge impact on me and kept me sane. They enabled me to focus on something positive all while living a very real and unpleasant experience on the outside. Nothing else mattered. I knew the reality of it all. A bunch of chips, electronic circuitry encased in a big block of plastic, but it felt magical to me nonetheless. It allowed me to fantasise about a world I wish I lived in. I could be someone else for an hour or two and distract myself from all of the other things that made me miserable. The people behind the original Pokemon games will never truly understand exactly what they did for me. I know the end game for them was turning over a profit (as is still the case today), but I couldn’t care less. It gave tens of millions of children something to focus on when nothing else was working out for them. I don’t think it will ever truly be replicated. Iconic is an understatement.
I wish it hit harder it's such an iconic bit of music just wish they went for it but I don't blame the musicians they played perfectly to the music that was written
Sat an cried when I heard Pallet Town theme to relive those days in the 90s when I was a kid as a kid again I'd give everything I have. The happy memories an the annoying ones this brings them all back. Like the annoyance of being so happy to finally reach the elite four an rush straight into it thinking you're strong enough an don't need items then loose the first battle an realising it was a bad idea to spend everything in the game corner so had to activate the missing no glitch to satisfy my craving of wanting to beat them so badly.
So gorgeous. I just wish these were split as both have amazing distinct sound tracks from each other. Felt a little too rushed in some spots, and some songs were a snippet when I would have loved to hear them whole. Overall great job as always though. I always get the nostalgia cries and tight chest when you guys do my favorites. Just purchased Crystal on 3DS a couple weeks ago and am living out my glory days again. The only game to include the original zone, albeit abridged, as well as the new zone. 16 badges to collect in one game, two zones connected by bullet train. Best in the series, in my opinion.
