I recommend checking the screws on your handle side plate first. I had new reel that just couldn’t hold any tension. Took it to a local tackle shop and they said it was a loose screw. Problem fixed
@@shawnwalker9861 I looked at the sites you recommended, and I figured they were too overpriced. So I contacted bass pro and they sent me a new part absolutely free! (Because I had a warranty with them).
You're absolutely kind I usually go to www.ereplacementparts.com/reel-parts-c-18715_187987.html or www.southwesternparts.com/ and www.mikesreelrepair.com/reel-parts/ you either need to know the make and model of your real or use a caliper and actually measure the size of the shims because you can actually get different types of shims now whether made from copper or carbon fiber. Just made my own plastic shims out of a plastic bottle cap and a piece of softer plastic that I found :) my reel is back in business
