Beautiful scenery. If you ever do a ride/drive out to Hedley , Google and youtube the town's history before you go. As a boy, only time my family ever stopped in Hedley was to pull over to that highway gas station. But that was very very rare when ... my father bothered to stop there. It must of included an emergency piss .
Anyways, i seen pics and a youtube video of the history of Hedley, BC. ....it was a booming little mine town of i think 1200 people back in the golden years. By the mid 1950s, mines were closing and other factors, no jobs/no tourists....people flee for better pastures. Penticton was the place to be, i imagine . Penticton's population was bigger then Kelowna up till 1964 or so. Like my father and uncles, they went wherever the jobs were.
When i got old enough to drive, i would always stop in Hedley on my way to Summerland. I had a hunch there was more t0 Hedley then just a quiet little tired looking Main street with a general store and a crap for sale antique store. But i did not know about Hedley;s history till recently, with the ease of internet knowledge. Check this out, go thru the galleries. www.communitystories.ca/v1/pm_v2.php?id=exhibit_home&fl=0&lg=English&ex=00000834

-- back as far as 1900, there were hotels, bakery, banks. general stores, laundrymat, police station, jail, school, a Hospital , probably were whorehouses and bars , there was at least one gas station-garage, restaurants and cafes. Up till the mid 1940s, the town had parades, ballroom dancing , concerts , CHILDREN . ......fun photo to check out in the gallery, there is a geodesic dome in somebody's backyard made out of cracked windshields. I saw that myself in person when i was exploring the town by car about 10 years ago. bcrdh.ca/islandora/object/hedley%3Aphotographs

@@grumpydude6802 ....very nice ride. Ever ride out to Greenwood? My parents got married there in 1957. I think they were living in Beaverdel. Imagine the paradise of Beaverdel in 1957-58...lol. Anyways, Greenwood and Nelson are on my bucketlist of places to visit.
More interested in Nelson, from the the youtube videos, looks like a cool little town to check out for 3 days or so.
