In India, we have automobile laws. A car can run on roads only for 15years and post 15 year, a car becomes a waste. We have different laws in terms of years, engines, emission laws etc.. and a car cannot run on indian roads or else the car can get confiscated.
Let suppose if I buy an AUDI A4, in the year 2012, I can run the car only till 2027. so the price fluctuates accordingly. 15 year ki cap khatam hone se 1-2 saal pehle 2nd hand loge to aise hi rate milenge.

But the end line is, we have different vehicle laws for Private, commercial, Vintage and Luxury cars which makes our car market more updated with the world and gives us chance to have more and more safe and customed models according to the world structure. which is basically a good step from indian govt since the end of license raj in 1991 and taking a step into economic liberalisation.

In India Diesel engine cars first registration lasts only 10 years and petrol engine lasts 15 years.
After this period cars have to go to the RTO and take an NOC which lasts 5 years first time and then 2-3 years after 5 years.
Modi govt. brought new laws which says cars don't have to necessarily go for chopping after first registration. We can run them as long as RTO gives NOC for engine fitness.
But the main catch is after the first registration companies don't give warranties for these cases and insurance is very expensive.
