Thank you for sharing this insight. I wondered about the process involved. I am a nurse and was unfortunate to witness 2 circumcisions during my clinical rotation, No numbing was used. The babies were strapped onto a plastic tray type thing with wraps to hold the babies arms and legs. One was performed in the hospital, the other in an outpatient setting. It was all in all Horrible.
Have heard a hospital circumcision is very different. They take off so much more and very painful for the baby. Was good to hear he did not even cry. What a difference
@@christinebarone2829 That's strange, because local anesthetic is used in all hospital circumcisions, and it completely blocks pain perception. Whatever you witnessed was not standard practice. The plastic restraint, however, is completely normal and actually used for safety. There are many situations in which a baby should not move, and many different hospital devices are designed to keep the baby still while its being examined.

Mutilating a child isn’t gentle
Mazel tov!! Our son’s bris was in our synagogue and the service started at 6:30 am. Since my husband went earlier, I and the baby had to be there at 7:30 am. It was quite emotional as our son is named after my dad who passed away in 2005. You have a beautiful home. Stay safe.
Why couldn’t you leave him intact? Religion should’ve be an excuse to mutilate a baby

Mazel Tov!! My son's bris was the first I've ever been too and It was definitely not a stress free day we had about 35/40 people there but it was beautiful and meaningful experience to do the mitzvah . It was nice to rest afterwards 🥰

Circumcision is a very serious human rights violation. Modern circumcision is much more severe than Old Testament circumcision. It’s an infringement of his human rights. What if he grows up and decides he doesn’t want to be Jewish anymore

Our son was circumcised by a doctor in the office. Before this, baby was always happy and smiling, and after I could tell he was in pain. It took about 3 weeks for him to seem like himself again. I felt terrible. But what's done is done. I only did it because my mother in law insisted. But if I had it to do over, I would definitely do some serious research. But we are not Jewish, so.... Anyway, it looks like it was a lovely day for your family. Thanks for sharing your special moments with us!

"Research" isn't anti-circumcision propaganda organizations, though. The movement against circumcision is largely pseudoscience and fake news.

In response to your comment about hospital vs bris, I would choose Bris 100% of the time. Hospitals are super traumatic (baby is tied down??) , and usually the parents can’t even be there. Even though bris’ are hard, I can’t imagine not being there with my son!

Great name. I am so bad even my children were having injections I would have been terrible with the circumcision and I have 6 boys, which includes a set of twin boys. You are so brave I couldnt have coped. Xx

When my son was born, my husband and I were deeply involved in volunteering and leading Shabbos services at a local nursing home. That's where we had our son's bris. We wanted the people that had been there with us as we were dating and there at our wedding able to come to our son's bris.
It made the paper the next day....

Congratulations! Welcome Zachary Theo! Beautiful name. My son was circumcised in the hospital. We aren’t Jewish so there wasn’t any ceremony or significance to it. They wheeled him out in the bassinet and brought him back about 30 mins later. Then the nurses showed us how to care for him and what to look for and when to call the doctor. They have a pediatric surgeon do the procedure. Not sure if that’s what you were wondering about, or if you were wondering about how it works for Jewish families in the hospital. 💙
Same here! The nurse came to my hospital room the morning we were going home (our son was two days old) to take him to the nursery for his circumcision and the 20-30 minutes he was gone from me I was a nervous wreck! I’m honestly not sure how I would have handled being right there when it happened. So difficult to know he was in pain, even if for only a short time!
That is so nice. The bris dress looks a lot like a christening dress. I kept both my kids christening gowns in linen bags designed to keep them. You should consider storing yours in one of those bags since he is your last baby.

Being a muslim boy, my mum also had me circumcised soon after birth and held a little celebration for the khatna/circumcision too. It's a beautiful part of our culture too and I'm happy my mum had me done 💙 I'm sure your baby boy will come to love it too!

I have 2 sons and I chose to have them both circumcised. It was done in the hospital I think the 2nd day of their birth. This was a longtime ago.
