I am thankful that we have platform's like this that allows music to be seen,cause I never would have known artists like Ren and others,cause this Ren music is a blessing, I normally don't listen to heavy accents artists, no disrespect it's because I can't follow the lyrics and that's pointless to just like a beat....But he's crisp and clear,the guy is so musically talented
I was very hard of hearing since birth, I have Bluetooth hearing aids now. I just got in the habit of reading the lyrics, that habit stays with me, even though the hearing aids make words much clearer .

I hate to compare, but he does play guitar like a God, sings like a freaking Angel, writes songs like he's Shakespeare, storytells them like he's hired by the KIng to entertain him. Rap's like he's standing next to Eminem and TechN9ne. Acts like he's an Oscar's nominee. Produces like he's Dre. Addresses all humanities issues, and with honesty, and a rawness.
Jaw on the floor good. A once in every 20 years artist/band. Who can appeal to a 16 year old and an 80 year simultaneously. Incredible. And........... an artist who no-one can box or label.

I'm kind of blown away by him and have to stop myself watching too many videos because I have ADHD and I can get pretty hyper focused on things I like and then i can't actually focus on anything else! I LOVE the little hums in the middle of the song. Idk why, but it's my favorite part.
I think in the last few lines of the opening "I'm put on life support, I've been put up on a higher shelf" he's talking about the people around him. A very common theme for mental health is those around you compensating for you, hence the life support, and setting high expectations for you, hence the higher shelf. I think it's supposed to be a commentary on how those things can be detrimental. Falling short of those expectations, or learning to rely on that life support too much can be just as bad as the mental health in the first place. The whole song is amazing but those two lines always hit home for me.

Absolutely, the other rap retakes are fire as well. The only thing is that he doesn't own the rights for the beats for those, have to be honest to Cliff after so much support :). If I understand correctly, Ren had a deal with Sony, and they dropped him when he got sick. My 23 yr old son showed me Hi Ren 2 weeks ago and have been stuck in this dude since. Super talented.

Based on intererviews as devastated as he was to be dropped from the label it was that the clock ran out on it. He got sick right after he got signed and didnt recover in time to release anything he had started working on with them. All of the hard feelings are towards his disease and the misdiagnoses that robbed him of all of those years and thinking he had missed the boat and it would never happen for him. That's what so much of the negative voice in Hi Ren is about. A decade plus of being tortured by that gremlin convincing him it was over and not worth trying. That his sense of his talent was inflated. Gaslighting himself into nearly giving up on life not just music.

Once again I have to say that the guy who is doing Ren's videos is a genius too! Oh and the drum'n'bass version of Genesis Ren mixed is dope too. He is so incredibly talented and I'm pretty sure it's good that sony dropped him. He wouldn't be on this level with them influencing him and forcing him to change stuff for a more commercial success. Surely Ren will be successful, in a different way though but still.

okay... been wandering a lot these last weeks listing to reactions (all REN ever since I have discovered Ren) Anyhow .. I know I passed thought here at least a couple of times. I get nervous every time I listen to a new song as I am afraid it will break the spell of amazing track after amazing track. But so far .. not.
