Trump actually took away one of the biggest "loopholes", if you want to call it that, which the wealthy used: Trump limited deductions for state income plus real estate taxes to $10,000. Some wealthy were deducting millions of dollars. That said, no one really pays for anything with taxes in the US. As of now, the federal government pays 24% of federal income tax to the interest on the national debt alone. The national debt increases by trillions every year at this point and is currently about 36 trillion. This also doesn’t include the estimated $150 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Debt greatly outpaces tax inflow. But remember, Congress changed the constitution to legalize income tax shortly after it was deemed to be unconstitutional by the supreme court in order to fund government spending that greatly outpaces tax inflows for a national debt that we’re told supposedly doesn’t matter. When they did this, they said it would only affect the top 1%… Everything is funded with unsustainable debt, not taxes. Taxes are quite literally just a pointless form of oppression without a balanced budget which will never happen. In fact, that was the whole point of why Congress surrendered their constitutional authority to coin currency to their banking donors and abolished the gold standard to enable the politicians’ infinite virtue signaling I.O.U.s and the banks’ 0% fractional reserve ponzis… What’s not “fair” is Congressional insider trading, a lack of Congressional term limits, Congressmen and Congresswomen living in districts they do not even represent, etc… but guess who would need to vote to change this? It was horrible. People could not pay rent, buy groceries, or pay their utilities. It lasted a long time when Trump did it. Cruz also pulled this stunt. It’s ridiculous that people will have to pay for groceries with a credit card if you don’t have family that can afford to give you a loan. We had money in savings, but not everyone has enough to cover over a month of expenses.

As it’s already federally illegal for noncitizens to to vote and a federal law to show ID to vote if you didn’t show ID when you registered, (states also have similar laws and 13 require ID already), this is MORE political theater from House Republicans.
You prove citizenship when you register to vote. It’s already illegal for non-citizens to vote. We don’t need more barriers to legal voters exercising their right to vote.
