I have just purchased an older model but new 1416 Varminter. 18 inch threaded barrel , so for your video to have popped up is a gods send , THANK YOU SIR for your knowledge. This will help keep my shooter in good condition.
Thanks I'm trying I have only been in the rimfire for a year and have done lost of testing before the UA-cam channel to see what work and what not works. So I figure I should share what I know so people don't waste a lot of time and money and can get to shooting.
I clean the chamber with a chamber brush and then dry patch every 124 rounds. The bore only gets touch when the rifle tells me it wants it (about 500 rounds). I used to clean .22lr barrels after every use. That practice was killing accuracy.
Yea I noticed that with mine once it starts shooting bad she wants cleaned. then after clean it take around 50rds before is start getting consistent again.
I also use Boretech Rimfire Blend. I use two Myers’s custom 20 caliber rods and a bore guide. My procedure is, 3 wet patches, followed by a five stoke brushing with a brass brush, followed by two wer patches and three dry patches.. I do not put an oily patch because I shoot my rifles every week.. Boretech is absolutely the best I have ever used,,
Thank you for another great video ! Do you prefer lead or copper plated bullets ? Would the cleaning process differ if one or the other shot better in my rifle ? These days it seems you have to shoot what you can find.
Why are you using a J. DEWEY rod for your patches and a BORETECH rod for your brushes? I used to use J. DEWEY rods but now use BORETECH. I recognize both by their handles.
Your right I have a Boretech and a Dewey rods. No reason for using the Dewey over a Boretech the Dewey is a 20cal rod and the boretech is a 22cal rod. I wanted to try a Boretech so that is why I'm using it and to be honest I will be using the Boretech over the Dewey's.
You too Don wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New year I have more video coming out soon with diffrent lots of ammo so stick around to watch them and thanks again.
I won't say cleaning a rimfire barrel is wrong, I will say for those who do clean the how and when is going to be greatly determined by ammo selection and quality if the bore. The one thing I will say is you NEVER push a brush out and let it touch the crown. This isn't a personal opinion, you can read this from several barrel makers for rimfire and center-fire. The crown can and will change from brushing.
I do it every time and still shoot perfect cards. Not saying your wrong but I have shoot over 10,000 rounds this season and I clean my rifle after card so 70 times and have not had a problem yet with the brush being pushed out messing the crown up. Just because someone says not to do it doesn’t mean it will hurt it until you try and I’m not about to quit because what ever I’m doing is working. Reason why I do that is because I watch what the top shooters are doing and there doing the same thing and some are a lot harsher when they clean there rifle then me. I appreciate your comment but you can’t believe everything you read.
@@304rimfire5 Shooting and all aspects of it from how, what to use, technique ...etc are all changing as we become more and more technologically advanced. Weapon development and components have changed light years in the last decade and are changing ever faster. The old school methods or rules are hard to break but slowly with more critical testing new methods are coming to light. Shooters the older they are will be slower to change where newer less seasoned shooters will adapt quick because habits are less ingrained. I know myself I had to see to believe some of my long held rules needed to change as I tried new methods that worked despite my doubts. Imagine what we will learn in 5-10 yrs from now.
I have been watching your videos lately, like the way shoot. I was wondering if you could tell me whose Bore Guide you are using? I had a CZ 455 and had a Bore Guide but the extractor which the guide didn't protect the rod, causing the coating to be peeled away. Looking at the MTR or Varmint to purchase once inventory comes back to normal. Thank you for the help!
I use the bore tech guide rod. Yes I just ordered another gun for the channel hope it will be here this week so I get it all done and ready for some videos. Weather is getting nicer where I live the snow is melting temperature are riding and bullets will be flying here soon.
Reason to use a smaller rod is because I don’t want the rod to touch the inside diameter of the barrel. Some cleaning rods say there .22cal on them but the rod is bigger in diameter and is hard to push down the barrel. So with the smaller diameter rod you eliminate the rod touching the inside of the barrel to cause any damage.
Those are 40-44 inch I need to order 48inch long rods. Those rods work great for my CZ 457mtr but a little short for my Anschutz. The rods are made By Boretech also I use 1) rod is a .20cal and .20cal jag setup 2)Rod is a 22rimfire by bore tech and i use there .22lr nylon brush
Is it amusing ? I live on the other side of planet Earth, have same Anshutz, use same PROTECTOR support tor the butt, same Caldwell Rock RB for the front, also have Boretech chemistry and rod. Globalisation as it is !
Exactly what II was after matey. Just bagged a bottle of this from a colleague (.22 rim match shooter) and he swears by it. Thanks man 🤜🏻

Again, excellent video displaying methods for through cleaning of .22LR target rifles. Thanks loads. Bore Tech, top quality.
Thanks
Thank u. Hoppes is OK. It works but to get the carbon loose I need 2 let it soak for too long.
Thank you. Well done. You don’t use a light oil inside of barrel?
Yea I use oil after i clean it and know the rifle is going to sit
That is just one damn nice rifle. On my wish list.
Be sure to wipe any residue on the muzzle end away.
That's much the way I clean my .22s.
Thank you for another great video ! Do you prefer lead or copper plated bullets ? Would the cleaning process differ if one or the other shot better in my rifle ? These days it seems you have to shoot what you can find.
I shoot nothing but lead bullet never shot anything copper out of these to rifles

I also have wonderful 64 MPR. I can't find bore guide that suits. What BORE GUIDE do you use? - Thank you!
I ordered mine from North America Anachutz the aluminum version.

,20cal jag? what size patches do you use then for a .22lr?
I use 1inch round cleaning patches

@@RimfireAddicted70 Very True
Nonsense, no amount of brushing from a bronze / brass brush will change steel.
I just use white spirit

This is pretty much what I’ve done for the last 10 years minus the brush

That is awesome and crazy I’m from the USA and your miles away matching the same setup as me.
And it will never shoot good again until you shoot another 100 rounds!
No my stuff shoots good after being cleaned about 7rds and it will shoot really constant. I Should make a video of it and show you guys.
That's straight up nonsense. A barrel always shoots best cold bore and clean.
@@StuninRub That goes to show what you know about small bore shooting!
