Quality builder, as a shipwright, I noticed all the screwheads on the underside of the chassis are matched (pointing the same way) in their groups,, Unreal!
Its mental. Because when all these vintage cars came out, racers would do everything to mod and customize them to make them go fast and look good. Now we get this stuff, usually do box art and leave them on a shelf. I'm a Kyosho fanboy, always have, always will. But you really do have to give to Associate the way they designed and put the RC10 together.
Lovely thing Glen…. As per usual back in the day there was no chance of ever being able to have one!!!!!🤣.. just truly truly aspirational…. So pleased that you have now got one for the collection… once again we see what a great little hobby this is both with the kit but the people.. fantastic
Stunning rc10 buddy Great video Bought an rc10 2nd hand as my first competitive race car with my paper round money in 1990 aged 12 Brings back great memories ...thanks 😊
Had a CE back in 1990-ish, There was an article in RC Car Action in the 80's that detailed how to eliminate 2 of the transmission bearings making it far more efficient. The original trans didn't have bearings on the output cups, just that plastic ring and a felt donut. You installed output bearings and then replace the two innermost bearings with a piece of 1/4" copper pipe, or something like that. Battery life on these cars back then with a stock brushed motor was around 4 minutes with the resistor controller, maybe another minute or two with a Novak/Tekin and a good NiCd. Nice score!
I've still got mine. Bought new in 88. Still all original, still working. I recently put new electronics in it and it still rocks. Handles and drives still better than any rc I've ever had. Raced it back in the day. Never broke. Never replaced a part except bodies/motors. Amazing rc. Mine is Cadillac edition A stamp. Back in the 80's showing up at a race with one of these was like cheating. Ran circles around anything else. The ultimate vintage buggy no doubt. Congrats. I wish I could get a original body for mine. Modern bodies are awful. Fyi, hornet tires fit the rear. The fronts are nearly impossible to find. Proline makes wheels for it. Run it! I run mine regular. They are tough as nails. Made to run. Cheers!
I remember spending hours helping to get my friends RC10 running back in the day. We always had to fiddle around with something to keep it running. I had a JRX2 from when they first came out so working on the much older RC10 was a little frustrating for me. The JRX2 was so much better (in my opinion) that I never really developed an appreciation for the RC10. It looks cool. I’ll give it that.
One of my top 5 dream RC’s.. I had a gold pan chassis as a kid but never got any of the suspension or transmission to put it together. Would kill to have a gold pan now

Glen you are correct definitely most iconic 2nd. I’m a collector as well and have been trying to get one for years. So jealous lol thanks for sharing it with us. She’s a beauty.
I was given an RC-10 about 15 years ago. A good friends dad was a high-school physics teacher and had his class build 10 of them and then race them at the end of the year. He built one as well and was displayed in his classroom until he retired. Pretty sure this one has never been run and is sitting on myself since the day I got it.
G’day Glenn from Oz 🇦🇺 Like you said, “I’ll keep this wing, little bit different”. Got to be fan of a touch of difference, in a sense makes it unique. Creates a talking point. Even the silvering of the ring on the shocks blends well! Fantastic 😊

Very interesting indeed. A piece of history. I learned through this video that back in 1984 there already were electronic speed controllers. In 1985 I got my first real RC car: a Tamiya Frog an I remember the two servos, one for the steering and the other one for the speed controller, but before coming back to the hobby last year (!!) I didn’t even know about the existence of an esc! Anyways: top video as always!
I bought one of those back in 1984. It originally came with a mechanical speed controller and if I remember correctly, a AA battery pack for that controller. It wasn't long before I upgraded it by replacing the mechanical one with an electronic one that wired directly to the main battery which greatly improved the responsiveness and handling ability. This was back before the digital transmitter/receivers came along so when racing against others, we had to make sure everyone had different frequency crystals.
Glenn, congratulations you have got to be the LUCKIEST guy on the planet right now. Your friends are awesome! I also think Keith is spot on with the camel yellow. That would be my go to color. I actually have that exact picture of the car as my screenshot for over ten years. By far the best two wheel buggy.

Glad you got your 2wd hero Glen. I’m still in search for my favourite, the Tamiya Nissan King Cab. If you can offer any advice on where to look or who to speak too, it would be greatly appreciated.
Excellent car there. Electronics are a lot newer than the age of the car but it looks so good. The kits in most cases actually came with a mechanical speed control and a stick Associated 27 turn motor. Looks to be a later release than 84 but no far off. I think Keith is correct. The closest colour would be Tamiya Camel yellow. Congrats on that find.
I agree Chris. I'm not sure about that wing. Even the RC10 Graphite from 89 had the other wing. A Novak T-4/ T-1/ T-1x and a Futaba R-112 reciever with gold label would be period correct. As for the colour, to be exact would have to custom blend.
I think you made a great decision👍💯I love the original RC10’s. I had 2 of them and I lost both of them in a storage auction. My Ex put my storage into auction even though I was sending her the money for the storage she ended up keeping all the money I was sending her and eventually it ended up being auctioned off. I miss my RC10.🙁🤷🏻♂️👍💯
Congratulations on this find! That is the first racing car I got in the early 80's and loved it! Wish I still had it. I've looked on ebay for one since I got back into the RC hobby but the price is too high and finding one that is mint like you got is very rare.
Has to be the most iconic car from bitd, they go so well on the track aswell 👌 looking forward to seeing the final result, hope you find the right colour 🤞

Awesome RC-10 Glenn, It's a Cadillac Edition so roughly 85-86 you can tell by the original four ribbed front tires and slightly darker anodized gold of the chassis absolute beauty thou. Also the box art is a custom blend of paint. The closest you can buy is Camel Yellow from Tamiya. Looking forward to seeing it done my friend it's stunning 🙂
@@RCLegends2022a great old esc's, I still use my Novak Durally no limit with 2s and it's still got some punch to it lol, just don't forget check on the battery level or use a cut off. 👍
Awesome rc car. Just recently bought 2 of these . One was a rere from 2013 and got the c stamp chassis from the 90's as a roller. Just completed the roller it looks sweet. Those original body's are rare and worth a ridiculous amount of money. A nice alternative is the jconcepts detonator . It's close to the original and around 25 dollars Only reason I say this is because you mentioned you are going to use the mci decals and I've noticed mci's colors are a little off from the original sheets included with the kit. May want to consider trying to find an original sticker sheet. Anyhow great video and congrats on the rc10 it's mint!
About the esc, in the year 95 Novak had the explorer, duster, hammer, racer, tempest. and the 410m5 which could handle a 10t motor. At one point I bought a Tekin esc, that was much better also had a tekin charger. Which I still have today.
Lovely car, great pickup. I don't think I'd run it if I had an example like that. Mine, when I got it, was a basket case old beater, so it didn't matter. It took me a while to repair/resto it. It runs now but the slipper needs a tighten. I have also been racking my brain trying to figure out what colour the boxart is. I still haven't painted and stickered the body for mine because of that. I was going to go with a kind of bronze/brown/coppery colour. Please let us know when you find out.
From what I can see its a later Cadillac version. The motor and spur gear are not box original and its missing the rear body mount, mechanical speed controller, front sway bar and some of the screws were switched out to stainless instead of black. Only important if your looking to restore to box stock. Other than that it looks to be in incredible condition. Very rare to find one in this condition. Congrats Glen!
I'm not to precious normally but don't think I could run it unless it was clean carpet with bean bags around the walls lol that's awesome Glenn congrats!!!
Stunning car👍 my biggest regret was selling my original rc10 gold pan a few years ago before they rocketed in price and I got absolutely peanuts for it😢
This is the first time l have watched and felt like a feeling of jealousy creeping in! What an exciting excellent example! The Champion man!!! The 1985 champion actually the RC10 finished first, second and third at the world Championships in the stock category. Glenn what a thing to have in your collection. boxart too good man Glenn. Has to be! Hope you nail that boxart its a amazing looking buggy in boxart for sure. I remember seeing these in the mags mostly on the back cover and they always seemed like some sort of 2wd god boasting about being champion and why not!!!! Regarding the body colour l can't help much but remember its an orange looking colour but somebody will know the actual paint. Basically this time Glenn you have got me jealous lol but l am generally so pleased for you to have this in your already fantastic collection. It hurts to say this as l have Tamiya blood running through my veins but l don't think we can disprove this is not the most iconic 2wd of all time, lol the good old Grasshopper could have something to say about that though? Obviously for totally different reasons it was the people champion lol. Awesome vid my friend. Cheers a jealous James off to read up and learn more about the RC10 now it sparks interest when legendary buggies are on your channel. Great stuff buddy.
@@RCLegends2022 Thanks Glenn l loved this vid my friend! Iol yeah the Grasshopper will always be the people's champion! This most iconic rc ever thing is strange but alluring as it can cover so many aspects! But its about what rc car left the biggest imprint in the history of our hobby over the masses! Very interesting topic and one l think we all could discuss for some time indeed! The RC10 is seriously something special! Well it was the dominant champion and beautiful looking and designed to boot! so without doubt that's right on the top of the pile....or is it??? Iol. Cheers a jealous James.
I just got one of these last week, not anywhere as mint as this one but in great shape with a wonderful pro-painted body! I do know the TBG has a full undertray for it you can add to it if you decide to take it out for a light run in the grass! You really got a gem with this one and I am looking forward to seeing it all done up. I wish I could help with the paint but I am as clueless as you on the right color for it! Congrats on getting the holy grail of RC Glenn, it is an absolute stunner!!
Not sure if you have it or not but the front stabilizer is missing. But awesome car looks identical to the one in my condition. It’s an early Cadillac version.
I happen to have a pair of original headlights if you would want them... thought i had all 4 but only found 2... but you are more than welcome to them if you want them
It might just be, Camel Yellow. I just painted my Bronco, Camel Yellow, and it came out a lot more orange than I thought it would. I took a screen shot with both, can I send you a pic somehow? I can try sending it to your IG.
Also, I did box art on one of mine, Camel Yellow, I think I read it in the RC 10 build guide but dont remember...either way the MCI decals I got from them do not stick that well so be warned
Great find! I have 2 of them, in the US its easier to find them. Looks like hardware is titanium, and not OG, spur is not OG, shocks should be all gold, looks like someone stripped gold off tops of them, all and all fantastic shape! If your going to run it, strip trans down and replace bearings if they are bushings.
I would not run it without putting tape on the chassis. I cannot bring myself to run my original worlds. Ended up getting a rere worlds as a runner which is crazy. They scratch soooo easy.
Yeah I don’t actually have any pull to run it tbh, why should I risk it when it’s in this great condition. Quite happy to get it finished and just look at it lol 😂

Hi Glenn from what I can see the Novak hammer pro is a No limit esc, the buggy looks very clean👍👍
Oh that’s excellent news my friend 😅
@@RCLegends2022a great old esc's, I still use my Novak Durally no limit with 2s and it's still got some punch to it lol, just don't forget check on the battery level or use a cut off. 👍
Awesome rc car. Just recently bought 2 of these . One was a rere from 2013 and got the c stamp chassis from the 90's as a roller. Just completed the roller it looks sweet. Those original body's are rare and worth a ridiculous amount of money. A nice alternative is the jconcepts detonator . It's close to the original and around 25 dollars
Only reason I say this is because you mentioned you are going to use the mci decals and I've noticed mci's colors are a little off from the original sheets included with the kit. May want to consider trying to find an original sticker sheet. Anyhow great video and congrats on the rc10 it's mint!
Gee, wow, no words!!❤❤
Awesome. I've never seen the hex-collar on the shock non-anodized? They must have done that for a run at some point?
Wow that's just insane 😲 she's never been driven. I would just keep her as a queen👑
Yeah I honestly can’t see me running it 😅
From what I can see its a later Cadillac version.
I've done my Kyosho Scorpion in Camel Yellow and I'd say it's very close to the RC10 boxart colour.
The most iconic car from the Golden Era of RC has - of course - a GOLDEN chassis 👌🪙
Haha how fitting my friend 😇😇😇
@@RCLegends2022 As if they KNEW already, back in the day ;_)
I'm not to precious normally but don't think I could run it unless it was clean carpet with bean bags around the walls lol that's awesome Glenn congrats!!!
Nice wow!
Stunning car👍 my biggest regret was selling my original rc10 gold pan a few years ago before they rocketed in price and I got absolutely peanuts for it😢
Oh no 🤕
This is the first time l have watched and felt like a feeling of jealousy creeping in!
What a fantastic comment my friend 🤩👊🏻
Isn’t it funny how the little old Grasshopper can hold its head up high in this conversation 😍
Clean!
Not sure if you have it or not but the front stabilizer is missing. But awesome car looks identical to the one in my condition. It’s an early Cadillac version.
I happen to have a pair of original headlights if you would want them... thought i had all 4 but only found 2... but you are more than welcome to them if you want them
I'd say it's an off orange colour too, definitely doesn't look yellow (Google images) 👍👍
Yeah camel yellow seems to be the popular choice 😅
Nice, very nice. What stamp is it?
It might just be, Camel Yellow. I just painted my Bronco, Camel Yellow, and it came out a lot more orange than I thought it would. I took a screen shot with both, can I send you a pic somehow? I can try sending it to your IG.
I read the title and thought that it could only be that particular car. And it turned out to be....😏
Fantastic thanks for watching 😇👊🏻
Great video love the car amazing how it’s survived so well
It absolutely is, I still can’t believe the condition it’s in 😅
Nice
Thanks buddy 😎👊🏻
This is my dream buggy. If I had one like you guys, I would wrap it in bubble wrap before I ever ran it!
When I add an associated B3 I didn't go boxart I don't go out box art with those particular not do box art for it.😁
I’m kicking myself when they offered the anniversary gold pan re-re RC10 kit for under $300 and I didn’t get one
I’m amazed at how he had that as a child and did not run it not even once
Yeah it’s crazy isn’t it 😇👊🏻
@@RCLegends2022 absolutely mind blowing brother
